Chelsea rejected by £50m transfer target after 'months of talks'
Gregor Kobel has turned down strong interest from Chelsea to continue his stay with Borussia Dortmund.
Robert Sanchez has endured a torrid time across an error-strewn season at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper ahead the summer transfer window.
The Spain international even lost his place midway through the campaign, only to win it back again thanks to a string of unconvincing performances from his understudy Filip Jorgensen.
There have been calls amongst the fanbase for head coach Enzo Maresca to put his faith in Djordje Petrovic next term, with the Serbian enjoying an impressive loan spell at Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg.
But it's understood the priority is to find a long-term solution in the summer transfer market and the likes of Roma's Mile Svilar, Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale and Dortmund's Kobel have been linked in recent weeks.

According to Bild, Kobel has 'long been in Chelsea's sights' and there has been 'contact for months' between the two camps over a potential transfer deal.
But it's claimed Kobel has decided he will be staying put at Dortmund and a proposed move to west London is now 'off the table'.
The report adds that Kobel's entourage have informed BVB sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, that their client has no plans to up sticks and remains committed to the Bundesliga outfit.
The 27-year-old is keen to nail down his spot at Switzerland's number one for the 2026 World Cup – and remain fully focussed on the upcoming Club World Cup – without transfer speculation becoming a distraction.
Earlier this month, the German newspaper reported that Dortmund could have done business for Kobel had they received an offer of between €60-70 million (£50-59m) for the shot-stopper.

Kobel still has three years remaining on his current contract at the Westfalenstadion.
Asked for an update on his future earlier this month, Kobel said: 'I do not comment on such things at all.
'It was important to me that we were in the Champions League, because this club simply belongs in the Champions League.
'It is been a hell of a four years here. The Champions League final, almost champions, and this year it was a completely different season.
'It was definitely exciting, and you never got bored.'

Hull name Sergej Jakirovic as new boss after reaching agreement with Kayserispor
The 48-year-old Bosnian joins on a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, after the Tigers agreed a settlement with Turkish side Kayserispor. Jakirovic had only been in Turkey since January, having previously led Dinamo Zagreb to qualification for the Champions League, and succeeds Ruben Selles, who was dismissed last month after Hull narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship. Chairman Acun Ilicali said on 'We are delighted to secure the services of Sergej. Sergej's our man. 🤝 Welcoming our new head coach! 🇧🇦#hcafc — Hull City (@HullCity) June 11, 2025 'We believe in the football that he will bring to the MKM Stadium for us and, importantly, he has proven himself to be a winner throughout his career. 'My dream for our club has never changed from the first day I took over, and I believe in Sergej as we look forward to the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship campaign together as one family.' Jakirovic's backroom team of Marko Salatovic, Marin Ivancic and Andjelo Roguljic join him in moving from Kayserispor, while first-team coach Andy Dawson and goalkeeping coach Erbil Bozkurt remain on the staff. A former midfielder and Bosnia international, Jakirovic began his managerial career with Sesvete in the Croatian second tier before moving on to Gorica, Maribor, Zrinjski Mostar and Rijeka. Hull finished the season in 21st place in the Championship, staying up at the expense of Luton on goal difference.

Dor Turgeman told to make Rangers transfer by ex-Celtic flop
And Berkovic - who had a disastrous spell at Parkhead after Celtic splashed out a then-huge sum of £5.75 million for the Israeli international back in 1999 under John Barnes - reckons Rangers would be a good option for Turgeman. Berkovic said: "Rangers and Celtic are both big clubs who play in the Champions League often... but also in a very boring league. Read more: "But the big difference between going to Scotland and say somewhere like FC Copenhagen is that Rangers and Celtic are on British TV every week. "So if you are a star for them, you are watched by English Premier League clubs every week. That's the difference between Scottish and Danish football. "The problem would be to adapt. I can give you examples of dozens of our players who moved to Europe, America and Japan... and disappeared. "It's not easy for an Israeli player to play in zero degrees for six or seven months. It's not easy to live there."
