During a press conference, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this on Friday. He said the Prime Minister will first arrive at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district and dedicate the bio-ethanol plant to the nation.
Developed as a joint venture between NRL and Finnish partners, the facility is India's first bamboo-based bio-ethanol refinery. It is designed to process up to 3,00,000 metric tonnes of bamboo annually to produce 49,000 metric tonnes of ethanol.
Following a successful trial run in Dec 2024, the plant is expected to begin commercial production by mid-2025. The project is expected to benefit around 30,000 rural households and marks a significant milestone in India's green energy and biofuel sector.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the construction of the much-anticipated Guwahati Ring Road in Mangaldai, the CM added. The project includes building a major bypass, widening key stretches of NH-27, and constructing a bridge over the Brahmaputra river to connect Narengi in Guwahati with Kuruwa in Darrang district.
The 121-km project, aimed at decongesting city traffic and improving connectivity across Assam, was awarded to Infracon Pvt Ltd by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in April.
The concession period is 30 years, including four years for construction, with completion expected by Dec 2027.
Later in the day, the PM will arrive in Guwahati to inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of legendary musician Bhupen Hazarika, the CM said. "The state govt has made meticulous plans to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner. A total of 1,000 singers — from senior artists to the youngest performers — will present a musical medley of a few of Bhupen Hazarika's most famous songs. Several programmes have also been planned as part of the yearlong celebration," the CM added.
To honour Hazarika's legacy, the state govt will also release a special biography and a commemorative coin.

This 1-hour 53-minute horror thriller film will send chills down your spine, climax will leave you speechless, has IMDb rating of 6.6, movie is…, lead actors are…

In the world of horror films, few stories manage to stand out by doing something truly different. One film did just that by taking a simple idea, what if vampires attacked when no one could escape—and placed it in one of the most chilling and isolated settings on Earth. With a sense of creeping dread and brutal survival, it gave horror lovers something fresh. It didn't rely on fancy effects or over-the-top jump scares. Instead, it brought terror in the form of long, freezing nights and monsters that thrive in the dark. Which film is this? The film we're talking about is 30 Days of Night, released in 2007 and directed by David Slade. Based on the comic book of the same name, the movie is set in Barrow, Alaska, where the sun disappears for 30 days during winter. As the town settles into darkness, a group of ruthless vampires arrives, turning the peaceful community into a feeding ground. Josh Hartnett stars as Sheriff Eben Oleson, a man who must lead the survivors, including his estranged wife Stella (played by Melissa George), in a desperate battle against bloodthirsty creatures that show no mercy. How were the performances? Danny Huston's performance as the terrifying vampire leader Marlow added to the intensity. His cold, emotionless portrayal left a lasting impression on audiences. Other actors like Ben Foster, who plays a creepy stranger preparing the town for the vampire attack, and Mark Boone Junior, who plays a local with a heroic streak, add depth to the small-town vibe and the growing horror. How was the box office reception? The film was made on a budget of approximately Rs 250 crore and earned over Rs 625 crore worldwide. Its gritty visuals and unique setting helped it stand out, earning a solid IMDb rating of 6.6. It is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and in some regions, it can also be found on YouTube Movies. The sequel to 30 Days Of Night Due to its success, the film led to a sequel in 2010 titled 30 Days of Night: Dark Days. The sequel follows Stella Oleson, now portrayed by Kiele Sanchez, as she travels to Los Angeles to expose the existence of vampires and take revenge. However, the sequel didn't connect with viewers the same way and received mixed reviews, with a lower IMDb score of 4.3. Still, the original remains a must-watch for horror fans, which is still remarked as best and terrifying vampire based movies ever made.

PM Modi's Pariksha Pe Charcha enters Guinness World Record for most registrations in a month

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative has entered the Guinness World Record for "most people registered on a citizen engagement platform in one month", the Ministry of Education (MoE) announced on Monday (August 4, 2025). According to officials, 3.53 crore valid registrations were received during the eighth edition of the programme. Prime Minister Modi directly interacts with students, teachers, and parents as part of the Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) initiative, which aims to transform the examination season "into a festival of positivity, preparation, and purposeful learning", making exams a time for encouragement rather than stress. "Pariksha Pe Charcha has been redefined as a national approach to examinations by turning stress into a festival of learning. The eighth edition of PPC recorded a total of over 21 crore viewership across all media platforms in 2025," Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said at an event where the Guinness World Record certificate was formally presented. "The overwhelming participation in PPC 2025 is seen as a reflection of the country's collective commitment to holistic and inclusive education and alignment with the vision of a Viksit Bharat," he said. While addressing the occasion, Ashwini Vaishnaw called Pariksha Pe Charcha a unique initiative that brings together students, parents, and teachers to promote well-being and stress-free learning. PPC is an annual event in which Mr. Modi interacts with students appearing for board examinations. During the event, he also answers students' queries related to exam stress and other issues. The first edition of the prime minister's interactive programme with school and college students was held at the Talkatora Stadium in February 2018. Its seventh edition was held in a town hall format at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, engaging participants from across the country and overseas. The eighth edition of the prime minister's annual PPC was held in a different format, with renowned personalities like actor Deepika Padukone, six-time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom and spiritual leader Sadhguru joining the event.
