Pillion rider crushed under lorry after m-bike skids on Johor road
JOHOR BARU: An 18-year-old man was killed while his sister was injured after the motorcycle they were on fell under a trailer lorry here.
Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the accident happened at 9.33pm on Friday (May 2) at KM12 of the Johor Baru–Air Hitam road.
'The accident is believed to have occurred when a motorcycle, ridden by a 20-year-old woman, lost control and skidded before falling under the left rear tyre of a lorry.
'This led to serious injuries to her 18-year-old brother, who was the pillion rider.
"He suffered severe injuries on the face and legs, and was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said in a statement.
ACP Balveer said the rider suffered minor injuries, including cuts and bruises, while the trailer driver was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
'We urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation,' he said, adding that they can contact investigating officer, Insp Noor Azlina Raof, at 013-2864878.

IPOH: A police sergeant was killed while on his way home to Kedah after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at Kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Kuala Kangsar yesterday. "He was rushed by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at around 9.24pm at the hospital's emergency ward," he said. He added that the victim was believed to be on holiday and was returning to his home in Alor Setar after visiting friends across the state. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
