Man Utd to be 'offered' former transfer target in £17m cut-price deal

Manchester United are set to be offered the chance to sign former target Adrien Rabiot after he was transfer-listed by Marseille, according to reports. Rabiot came close to joining United last summer after leaving Juventus, but instead returned to his homeland with Marseille. The French international proved a key cog in Roberto De Zerbi's side, recording nine goals and four assists in 29 league games as Marseille finished second behind Paris Saint-Germain. However, the 30-year-old has now been made available for sale along with teammate Jonathan Rowe after the pair were involved in a violent dressing room bust-up following their opening league game against Rennes. Describing the incident, Marseille president Pablo Longoria told AFP: 'What happened was extremely serious and extremely violent, something I've never encountered before. 'We had to take a decision because what happened went way beyond what is acceptable in a football club, as it would be in any organisation.' An experienced midfielder and five-time Ligue 1 winner with PSG, Rabiot is unlikely to be short of offers in the final few weeks of the window. And Fabrizio Romano reports that United will be one of the clubs offered the chance to sign Rabiot for a cut-price deal of €15-20m (£13-17m). 'Many of those who are close to Adrien Rabiot's camp are proposing the opportunity to offer Rabiot to clubs, for example, also to Manchester United,' the Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel. 'He's a player who was a target for Man United many years ago, and in recent years was never close. At the moment, I'm not hearing anything concrete on Manchester United in negotiations for Rabiot. 'He is going to be offered to Manchester United and many other clubs as an opportunity for €15-20 million. But at the moment, it's still an open situation.' More Trending United have made clear their desire to sign a central midfielder before the end of the window, although the Red Devils were knocked back in their pursuit of Brighton's Carlos Baleba. Ruben Amorim may have his work cut out to convince Rabiot to make the move to Old Trafford, though, with the Frenchman suggesting only last year that United were still 'in a bit of a hole'. 'Last year as well, when I was free, they came back in again. I had good talks with them again. But it's true that it was a bit tricky,' he told The Athletic when asked about United's approach to sign him last summer. 'The situation they're in at the moment… I felt a bit of reticence about whether United were going to be able to go on and achieve great things. Because they're in a bit of a hole at the moment.' Man Utd sent transfer message by £40m target: 'I'm happy with my choice'

Manchester United have been sent a fresh transfer message (Picture: Getty) Manchester United-linked Zion Suzuki has opened up about his future as the talented goalkeeper continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils came close to wrapping up a deal for Suzuki in 2023, even agreeing a fee with the young 'keeper's then club Urawa Red Diamonds. But Andre Onana completed a move from Inter Milan to United that same summer and Suzuki opted to join Belgian outfit Sint-Truidense VV instead, fearing for his playing time at Old Trafford. Now playing for Italian side Parma, Suzuki enjoyed a stellar first season in Serie A to help his side stave off the threat of relegation. But such was his form that several top European clubs, including United, were linked with a move for the £40m-rated keeper this summer. However, Suzuki hinted that his immediate future remains with Parma as he looks to build on his impressive performances from his debut camapaign. 'I know there were a lot of rumours about me, but I'm totally focused on Parma and preparing to start the season well,' he told Tuttomercatoweb. Zion Suzuki has regularly been linked with a move to United (Picture: Getty) 'Parma made me a fantastic offer, so I immediately decided to accept and join this club. Last year was an opportunity to grow, and I'm really happy with my choice.' Asked to reflect upon his first season in Italy and his goals for the upcoming season, the Japanese international added: 'In the end, we achieved our goal, which was to stay in Serie A. 'I've grown a lot, and it was a good season. It taught me the importance of preparation, because only if you train well and in a certain way can you perform well. The calls for United to sign a new keeper only grew louder after Altay Bayindir's mistake against Arsenal (Picture: Getty) 'First of all, I want to reduce the number of goals conceded, because last season we conceded a lot. 'That's my first personal goal, then as a team, we want to raise the bar and not just fight for survival.' More Trending United, meanwhile, are still without a convincing first-choice keeper, and the calls for the Red Devils to sign a replacement only grew louder after Altay Bayindir's error against Arsenal on the Premier League's opening weekend. Ruben Amorim's side have been linked with moves for Emi Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the United boss appeared to suggest that he is happy with his current trio of Bayindir, Andre Onana and Tom Heaton. 'We prove today that we can win any game in the Premier League especially against team like Arsenal,' Amorim said. 'I'm happy with the players. I'm happy with the three goalkeepers.' Arsenal facing potential injury crisis after just ONE game and huge transfer spree

Arsenal started their Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Manchester United, but already have injury problems to deal with ahead of their match against Leeds Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may have to improvise when he names his starting XI to face Leeds this weekend due to injuries. The Gunners began their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, but it may have come at a cost. ‌ Ben White started the game at right-back before being replaced by Jurrien Timber, but both now appear to be struggling with injuries. The defensive duo's appearances were limited last season by fitness concerns and there were concerning signs at training on Wednesday. ‌ White did not join his team-mates in first-team training and instead underwent an individual session while Timber took part in opening training, but missed the subsequent section. ‌ White was in conversation with club physio Simon Murphy as he walked off in the 71st minute at Old Trafford. The 27-year-old defender only managed 26 appearances in all competitions last season due to a knee injury that required surgery. Timber, meanwhile, was unused during the entirety of Arsenal 's pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong. The Dutchman has struggled with an ankle injury in recent months and is still battling to find full fitness. Arsenal have spent over £200million to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Eberechi Eze is on the way from Crystal Palace in a £67.5m deal, but they lack cover at right-back if White and Timber can't start against Leeds on Saturday evening. ‌ Thomas Partey often filled in last season, but he has left this summer, meaning another defender may have to play out of position this weekend. Arteta is due to speak to reporters on Friday in a pre-match press conference, where he may provide an update on White and Timber. However, it is the injury to Kai Havertz which is most concerning. The Germany international injured his knee at Old Trafford and the club are still waiting for a full assessment of the severity of the problem. ‌ The fact Arsenal moved quickly on Wednesday to hijack Tottenham's move for Eze suggests it could be significant. The Gunners are already without Gabriel Jesus, who has a long-term knee injury, while Norgaard missed the United trip with a minor issue too. Arsenal have finished second for three straight years in the Premier League, but William Saliba believes their work in the transfer window could make all the difference. 'Of course we've finished second for three years in a row, and we know that we always miss something,' he said at the PFA Awards this week. 'Now it's a new season, we have to see what we didn't do well enough to win the league. 'We won the first game and of course we want to win the league, and we will give everything. We have to try to be even better than the last three seasons to win this league. 'We know that the new players who came to help us, and I'm sure that they will help us to win some trophies. Of course we are already better with them. Let's see.' Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
