New natural park announced in the heart of Muscat
The project, announced in coordination with Muscat Municipality and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, aims to preserve and transform one of Muscat's rare natural landscapes into a sustainable, eco-conscious urban space. According to the decree, the initiative will play a critical role in activating the national urban development strategy by aligning environmental stewardship with long-term urban planning.
Key highlights of the project include:
• Advancing the National Strategy for Urban Development through focused management of the natural environment and cultural heritage
• Repurposing the natural topography of Bousher Sands into a driver of sustainable growth and recreation
• Safeguarding a unique ecological asset nestled in the capital city
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning: 'The Bousher Sands Park project is part of Oman's national urban development strategy under the theme Natural Environment and Heritage Management. Its purpose is to safeguard the unique sandy terrain as a natural landmark, protect the site's environmental identity, ensure harmony between urban planning and nature, and link city landmarks through eco-friendly pathways.'
The ministry added: 'The Bousher Sands Park project reflects the vision of 'Greater Muscat' through 'Vital Muscat' and 'Productive Muscat'. Recreational activities and public spaces enhance Vital Muscat; domestic tourism and economic opportunities support Productive Muscat. Licensing will be leveraged for innovative environmental activities, and balanced development embodies the concept of sustainable development.'
In this regard, Muscat Municipality has completed the design phase of the Bousher Sands Development Project, which is set to transform over 300,000 square metres in the Bousher Sands area of Muscat. The plan features a range of architectural elements, including a visitor centre, food and beverage outlets, car-related facilities, and multi-level parking.
With sustainability as a core goal, the project aspires to achieve LEED certification for its buildings, reflecting a commitment to eco-conscious urban expansion while enhancing the site's appeal as a recreational and tourism hub.

Muscat: Tourism and entertainment projects are proving to be a key driver of the Dhofar Khareef Season, providing integrated destinations that meet visitor needs, boost economic and commercial activity, and create employment opportunities for Omani nationals. These projects are especially important during the Khareef season, as they offer a mix of cultural, entertainment, and commercial experiences. They also play a significant role in encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which in turn positively impacts the local economy and the sustainability of tourism. Samharam Tourist Resort, a popular destination for the Khareef season, provides integrated facilities for shopping, dining, and cultural and entertainment activities. According to Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Hadhri, the site supervisor, the resort hosts a consumer exhibition with 150 to 160 shops from various Arab and foreign countries. The exhibition also features a handicrafts section with approximately 28 shops for SMEs and low-income individuals, supervised by the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. The resort's outdoor area includes restaurants, cafes, and games for both children and adults. The "Revel" section, managed by Sar Events Management Company, is particularly popular. Its owner, Muslim bin Abdulsalam Al Rawas, stated that this is the third consecutive year for the event at the resort. OCCI's Finance and Insurance Committee discusses unified insurance policy
Muscat: The Finance and Insurance Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), chaired by Mustafa bin Salman bin Ahmed, OCCI Board Member and Committee Head, discussed the latest developments regarding the unified insurance policy, which aims to standardize coverage and terms across insurance companies. The meeting also reviewed the fees and charges imposed by banks on borrowers, stressing the importance of conducting a comprehensive study based on data and statistics from the Central Bank of Oman, particularly as around 80% of companies operating in the Omani market are classified as small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The meeting further examined the fees imposed by commercial banks on SME accounts. The committee discussed a proposal to hold a joint seminar with the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre to introduce the centre's services and its role in resolving financial disputes through commercial arbitration. It also reviewed a proposal to organize a dialogue session to discuss financing challenges and personal loans that support the employment of Omanis in SMEs. Additionally, the meeting considered a proposal for a training initiative for workers in the insurance sector, which would include short and long term programs, as well as a professional diploma in insurance.
