Asheil Lighting secures land for advanced manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia
Strategic partnership with Versatile International and Haneco Lighting to localize high-performance lighting solutions and enhance supply chain resilience
Supports Saudi Vision 2030 by fostering local manufacturing, creating skilled jobs, and advancing sustainable infrastructure
Saudi Arabia – Asheil Versatile Lighting Technologies (Asheil) has secured land in Shaqraa Industrial City, 180km northwest of Riyadh, to establish a state-of-the-art lighting manufacturing and technology hub. This milestone strengthens Saudi Arabia's position as a regional leader in advanced lighting production, reducing the Kingdom's dependence on imports while driving industrial growth, supply chain resilience, and job creation.
The 6,800m² facility will not only produce high-performance lighting solutions for Saudi Arabia's giga-projects, large-scale urban developments, and commercial infrastructure but will also generate significant local employment opportunities. By investing in localized manufacturing, Asheil is ensuring that Saudi talent plays a direct role in the Kingdom's industrial transformation, equipping the workforce with expertise in advanced manufacturing and energy-efficient lighting technologies.
The facility will integrate cutting-edge production techniques, energy-efficient LED technologies, and precision engineering, addressing both market demand and the need for a skilled, future-ready workforce. By providing high-value job opportunities, Asheil will support the Kingdom's long-term economic diversification strategy while advancing technological self-sufficiency in the lighting sector.
'Asheil is proud to contribute to Saudi Arabia's transformation into a hub for advanced lighting technology,' said Marco Fahd, Chairman & CEO of Versatile International. 'This facility will not only provide international standard, high-quality, locally manufactured lighting solutions but will also create skilled jobs and provide new career pathways for Saudi professionals in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain management. We sincerely thank the Saudi government and our partners for their support in making this vision a reality.'
Saudi Arabia's LED lighting market was valued at USD 2.3 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 4.8 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 12.9 percent. The Kingdom currently imports significant volumes of lighting and signalling equipment, with China accounting for over 40 percent of its lighting imports. By manufacturing locally, Asheil will help reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, enhance supply chain stability, and ensure customized, region-specific solutions for developers and infrastructure planners.
'With Versatile's extensive project management experience and Haneco's deep expertise in LED manufacturing, Asheil is set to become a transformative player in Saudi Arabia's industrial landscape,' said Nicho Teng, Founder & Managing Director of Haneco Lighting and Co-founder of Asheil. 'Our integrated approach - spanning design, manufacturing, and after-sales support - will not only deliver high-performance lighting solutions but will also empower local talent with the skills and expertise needed to sustain and expand Saudi Arabia's manufacturing sector.'
Asheil is a joint venture between Versatile International and Haneco Lighting, combining world-class project management expertise with cutting-edge LED manufacturing to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient lighting solutions. By localizing production, the partnership aims to enhance supply chain stability, reduce costs, create new job opportunities, and provide faster, more customized solutions for Saudi Arabia's major infrastructure projects.

Nissan has announced a 10% year-on-year growth in the Middle East region for fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 – March 2025). Spanning over 18 markets, including the Gulf states, Saudi Arabia, Levant, Iraq, and CIS, the brand's regional business unit achieved strong results, fueled by increased demand for SUVs and crossovers, which accounted for more than 55% of total sales. SUV sales rose 17% year-on-year, led by the World Premiere of the All-New Nissan Patrol in Abu Dhabi, which saw a 21% increase in sales. Closing FY24, Nissan expanded its SUV range with the Magnite, a compact SUV introduced regionally in Saud Arabia, offering a value-driven option for city living. Saudi Arabia remains Nissan's largest market in the Middle East, contributing over 35% of total regional sales in FY24. The Kingdom continues to be a key pillar in Nissan's regional strategy, with the SUV portfolio including Pathfinder with a 27% increase, and KICKS with a 10% increase, resonating strongly with Saudi consumers. This market remains pivotal to Nissan's growth, especially in the SUV segment, which has seen strong demand in recent years. Thierry Sabbagh, President of Nissan Middle East and INFINITI and Divisional Vice President for KSA, Middle East, and CIS, said 'FY24 marked a strategic turning point for Nissan in the region. Amid shifting market dynamics and heightened consumer expectations, we remained focused on what drives long-term value, strong partnerships, competitive product lineup, and operational agility across our markets. Our performance in Saudi Arabia, our largest market, reflects the strength of our product strategy and the trust we continue to build with customers and dealers alike. As we look ahead, we see clear opportunities for growth, particularly across the SUV segment, supported by a robust FY25 product pipeline and closer collaboration with our trusted partners across the region.' Beyond Saudi Arabia, Gulf markets played a key role in driving regional sales growth. These markets saw a 16% uplift in sales, with Qatar emerging as standout performer with a 32% increase. The UAE registered a 16% increase in sales, while Bahrain posted an 11% rise. The Patrol saw impressive gains in these markets, with sales surging 80% in Qatar and over 30% in both the UAE and Bahrain. Additionally, the X-TRAIL recorded strong double-digit growth across several key markets, including a 32% increase in the UAE, and 25% in Kuwait. Product performance across the region also showcased the strength of Nissan's portfolio. The Pathfinder achieved a remarkable 96% year-on-year increase, driven by robust demand in the UAE. Meanwhile, the KICKS saw a 28% regional increase, with particularly strong performances in the UAE and Bahrain This momentum was further boosted by the February 2025 launch of the all-new KICKS, which featured upgraded features and a refreshed design, reflecting its popularity among younger, tech-savvy urban drivers. Entering FY25, Nissan stands on a solid foundation, having reinforced its product lineup with both iconic models and exciting new introductions. Building on its momentum, FY25 will see the continuation of Nissan's product offensive strategy, with new models and nameplates set to launch across the region. With the recent introduction of the new Magnite and KICKS strengthening Nissan's SUV offering, the brand remains focused on meeting the growing customer demand for SUVs and crossovers. Guided by a commitment to innovation, quality, and customer engagement, Nissan is poised for sustained growth in the evolving Middle East market.

Loyyal Expands Maharaja Club with Global Shopping Rewards
Air India has partnered with blockchain-based loyalty specialist Loyyal to allow Maharaja Club members to earn points on everyday purchases across key brands in the United States and the United Kingdom. The collaboration enables members to accrue Maharaja Points on shopping at major retailers such as Walmart, Victoria's Secret, New Balance, GAP, Victorinox and Alamo – marking a significant expansion of the airline's loyalty programme. Members now earn up to 99 Maharaja Points per USD 100 spent at Walmart, 310 points per GBP 100 at Victoria's Secret, 300 points at Victorinox, 45 at New Balance, 180 at GAP and 64 points at Alamo. These offerings are accessible via the Maharaja Club Partner Offers page on Air India's website, where members can select a brand and follow on-screen prompts to initiate their purchases. Shailesh Kumar Singh, Head of Loyalty at Air India, commented that the alliance with Loyyal 'makes it easier for our members to earn Maharaja Points on everyday essentials and shopping, without needing to fly frequently'. Meanwhile, Loyyal CEO Ashish Kumar Singh noted that the initiative 'significantly boosts the earning potential for Maharaja Club's members,' adding that it enriches daily experiences and complements travel benefits. ADVERTISEMENT The partnership follows a broader revamp of the Maharaja Club, which adopted a simplified tier structure, updated identity and enhanced customer features. Air India has added more than 50 non-airline partners over the last 18 months, supporting its transformation under the strategy and leveraging its Star Alliance membership. The move aligns with global loyalty trends, where airlines increasingly engage shoppers via retail partnerships. By enabling points accrual through non-travel spend, loyalty programmes become more relevant to everyday consumer behaviour, fostering engagement beyond flight activity. Consumers, meanwhile, gain tangible value even during non-travel periods. Maharaja Club's integration with Star Alliance further enhances its value proposition. As noted by Air India's own commentary, elite-tier members benefit from worldwide priority check-in, lounge access at over 1,100 locations, extra baggage allowance, and the ability to accrue and redeem points across the alliance's 25 carriers. These features remain central to the programme's repositioning. Industry analysts highlight that Loyyal's blockchain-based platform offers secure, transparent point tracking and easier integration of diverse partners. Though Air India and Loyyal have not disclosed technical details publicly, Loyyal's existing reputation in travel loyalty schemes supports confidence in seamless implementation. Under the agreement, Air India continues to broaden access to Maharaja Points across shopping categories. The move targets customers traveling abroad or residing outside India, reinforcing Air India's global outreach following its Tata Group-led transformation. In support, the programme emphasises that points can be redeemed for award flights and cabin upgrades through Air India or Star Alliance partners. The timing of the launch coincides with Air India's widened network with new interline agreements and route expansions, such as recent pacts with airlines like airBaltic, Cyprus Airways and Uzbekistan Airways, aimed at increasing global connectivity. As passengers gain more travel options, the value of earning and using loyalty points is projected to grow. As more household and lifestyle brands are added to the programme, members could diversify their point accrual even further. Air India has indicated that additional partners will be announced in due course, though specifics have not yet been released. Maharaja Club members benefit from streamlined user experience with clearly stated earning rates for each participating brand. For example, spending at Victoria's Secret yields 310 points per GBP 100, while spending at Victorinox delivers 300 points per USD 100 – figures that are prominently showcased on the shopping portal. Air India's alignment with Loyyal fits within its hospitality-driven repositioning under along with fleet modernisation, training investments, new routes, and enhanced premium services. The airline aims to appeal to international leisure and business travellers – particularly those based abroad – by offering points that can accrue through both travel and lifestyle spending. Industry commentators suggest that Loyyal's blockchain solution offers underlying benefits including transparent audit trails, fraud reduction and easy tracking of reward accrual from non-travel sources. This increases both partner and consumer confidence in the integrity of the loyalty ecosystem.
