Who is the one foreign national killed in Pahalgam terror attack?
A tourist from Nepal was among the 26 people killed in the deadly terror attack on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.
The attack took place in the afternoon at Baisaran valley – an off-road meadow a little over 6 km from Pahalgam – when it was packed with tourists. Terrorists showed up and fired indiscriminately at them.
Who is Sudip Neupane?
Sudip Neupane, a 27-year-old Nepali national from Butwal in Rupandehi district, had travelled to the scenic region with his mother, sister, and brother-in-law for a holiday when the attack took place in an off-road meadow described as the deadliest civilian attack in India in nearly two decades.
His mother, Rima Pandey, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. According to his grandfather, the terrorists asked Sudip his religion before shooting him after he 'identified himself as Hindu', news agency ANI reported.
Sudip held a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and worked on an oral health project in Kathmandu.
Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, confirmed his death and condemned the attack, stating Nepal is in close contact with Indian authorities. The Foreign Ministry, in an official statement, said Nepal 'unequivocally condemns the barbaric terrorist attack on innocent tourists' and expressed solidarity with India.

The 'Kashmir Resistance,' an offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in protest against the alleged demographic change in the region.
Nepali leaders including President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Minister Deuba extended condolences and reaffirmed Nepal's position against terrorism. PM Oli also spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express sorrow and support.
The Army and police launched a massive operation for the perpetrators behind the attack. A total of seven terrorists, including four-five from Pakistan, are suspected to have opened fire on tourists at the Baisaran valley meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, The Indian Express has learnt.

Ranchi: With summer holidays at its peak and all popular tourist spots, especially Jharkhand's picturesque waterfalls, facing a massive rush of people from all corners, popular destinations like Hundru, Dassam, and Jonha are facing a crisis. Basic public infrastructure at these sites, including benches, shade structures, toilets, and drinking water facilities, has fallen into state of disrepair, dampening the tourist experience and also raising safety concerns. Visitors, arriving for a scenic and refreshing escape, are now met instead with broken seating, cracked concrete platforms, rusted railings, and defunct restrooms. For families with children and elderly visitors, the lack of clean and usable amenities has become a major deterrent. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike on May 13. Sinwar, 49, was the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7 attack on Israel. Yahya was shot dead by IDF soldiers eight months ago. Both brothers were born—and killed—in the Khan Yunis area. A joint statement by the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed that Sinwar and Rafah Brigade Commander Mohammad Shabaneh were killed in an underground command center beneath the hospital. Items belonging to them, along with intelligence materials and other bodies, were also recovered. Footage released by the IDF showed a body being dragged from a tunnel under the hospital.
