RIYADH: ESL FACEIT Group, the world's leading e-sports company, has announced the return of the ESL Saudi Challenge for 2025, with two editions confirmed for May and December.

The expansion is part of EFG's long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia's gaming ecosystem and supports the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its National Gaming and Esports Strategy.
Kicking off the 2025 season, the first round of open qualifiers will take place on April 24-26, followed by a second round scheduled for May 1-3. The competition will then advance to the playoffs on May 7-8 and 14-15, culminating in a live grand final at VOV Gaming on May 30.
The ESL Saudi Challenge is a platform for emerging local talent to shine on the world stage, linking Saudi players with international opportunities and audiences.
'What's happening in the Kingdom today sets the tone for the future of global e-sports.' said Franck Guignery, senior vice president for the MENA region at EFG. 'We're witnessing a generation of players with world-class potential. The ESL Saudi Challenge is more than a tournament, it's a launchpad — a gateway that connects Saudi talent to the global esports arena. For the industry, this isn't just an opportunity — it's a turning point.'
Each 2025 edition of the tournament will spotlight Overwatch 2 as its flagship title, with a $20,000 prize pool and offering winners a direct path to global competitions. This year's grand finals will culminate in a live showdown, bringing the region's top talent to the big stage.

After securing the fourth place, the South Korean team T1 won a cash prize of $60,000 and 300 points. The tournament brought together 16 teams from around the world, competing over four days at the stc Arena in Riyadh City Boulevard, capturing the attention of several fans throughout the competition. 'The team had to go through a longer path during the competition, passing through the qualifying stages and reaching the finals,' Mohammed Al-Mutairi, General Manager of Team Falcons, said. 'But everyone did a great job and showed a strong will to reach the final and win the title.' he added. Al-Mutairi also underscored that winning Overwatch 2 will alleviate the pressure on the team members in the remaining tournaments and put Team Falcons in a strong position to sustain the World Esports Cup title for the second year in a row. By concluding the Overwatch 2 competition, the 2025 Esports World Cup wraps up the fourth week, which witnessed other popular gaming competitions such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile, along with chess, which made its debut at the largest event in the global gaming and esports sector. 2025 Esports World Cup Currently, the 2025 Esports World Cup is bringing together 24 of the world's top games in one venue. DOHA: The Global Champions Arabians Tour, or GCAT, makes its debut in Denver, the US, with the fourth stage of the 2025 Americas Series taking place from Aug. 8-9 at the National Western Complex. For the latest updates, follow us @ArabNewsSport Following the success of GCAT's events in Scottsdale, Miami Beach and Sao Paulo, the Denver stage brings the world's leading Arabian horse championship to the heart of the American West. The two-day event will showcase more than 100 purebred Arabian horses competing across yearling, junior and senior categories. The Denver stage offers a total prize purse of $270,000 and qualifies winners for the GCAT Americas overall ranking, which awards $1.275 million to the top 20 male and female horses and top 20 handlers, with an additional $50,000 bonus for the highest-scoring horse across the series. 'We're thrilled to bring the Global Champions Arabians Tour to Denver for the very first time,' said Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Thani, deputy CEO of the Global Champions Arabians Tour.
