Note to self: maybe don't let Zach Top reveal the gender of your baby.
One brave couple thought they had the perfect plan for their gender reveal, but things went hilariously wrong when the country superstar tried to help them out in front of hundreds of thousands of people at the West Virginia State Fair.
The moment started innocently enough. During his performance, Top spotted a couple in the crowd holding up a sign that caught his attention. Getting a closer look, he realized they wanted him to do something pretty special — reveal the gender of their unborn child to the entire audience.
Always one to connect with his fans, Top grabbed the paper from the expectant parents, ready to make their moment unforgettable. However, as he prepared to make the big announcement, he discovered a major problem, the page was completely blank.
Somewhat confused and probably feeling the pressure of hundreds of thousands of eyes on him, the singer quickly flipped the paper over. That's when he found the gender written on the back — but not before accidentally showing the answer to the entire crowd first.
Realizing his mistake, Top tried to salvage the moment. "I messed that up. If you didn't see it… IT'S A GIRL. Congratulations, Kelsey and Dalton, you're having a baby girl!" he announced, doing his best to create suspense after everyone had already seen the reveal.
The crowd cheered on anyway, and after, Top signed the paper as a keepsake before returning to the microphone with an apology.
"I botched it a little bit," he admitted to the audience, explaining that it was his first time attempting a gender reveal during one of his shows.
Despite the less-than-smooth execution, both the crowd and Top were thrilled for the happy couple. The whole experience was so chaotic that it might just inspire the couple to keep things a bit more low-key for baby number two.
The impromptu gender reveal has become one of the most talked-about moments from Top's busy touring schedule. He's currently crisscrossing the country on his Cold Beer & Country Music headlining tour, and recently announced additional venues he'll be hitting throughout the fall.
He recently dropped "South Of Sanity," the second track from his highly anticipated sophomore album, Ain't In It For My Health, which hits shelves August 29.
