TTD plans ‘No Leopard Zone' on Tirumala footpath; ramps up wildlife safety measures
TIRUMALA: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials have decided to implement short-term and long-term measures to address the increasing movement of wild cats, including leopards, along the Tirumala ghat roads and footpaths.
TTD resolved to deploy additional personnel and improve garbage management along the Alipiri route. Officials also agreed to conduct regular joint drives involving Forest, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Health, and Vigilance departments, with the support of Forest Department personnel.
The Wildlife Institute of India and the Forest Department will collaborate with the TTD in framing both short-term and long-term strategies under the MANIMAL Plan to mitigate human-animal conflict in the region. TTD will introduce enhanced surveillance measures along critical stretches of the Alipiri footpath, particularly the 2.5 km stretch from the Seventh Mile to the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple on the Down Ghat Road.
Safety equipment includes camera traps, bio-fences, net-guns, high-flash torches, smart sticks, and pepper sprays, with the goal of declaring Alipiri Footpath a 'No Leopard Zone.' The administration will update the approved food list and strictly ban restricted items.

TTD temporarily shifts Divya Darshan token counters to Bhudevi Complex at Alipiri
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced temporary relocation of the Divya Darshan token counters, which are made available at the Srivari Mettu for the devotees who trek to Tirumala. In view of the crowd management and logistical requirements, the counters will be moved to the Bhudevi Complex at Alipiri. The new arrangement will come into effect from Friday evening. TTD Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao reviewed the decision during a virtual meeting with the officials on Tuesday. The new counters at the Bhudevi Complex would issue the Divya Darshan tokens to the pilgrims who prefer to trek to Tirumala via the Srivari Mettu footpath. Tokens would be distributed on the first come, first-served basis and subject to availability, starting from the evening of June 6 (Friday). Devotees who obtain the tokens must present their Aadhaar cards and scan them at the 1,200th step on the Srivari Mettu route to validate their eligibility. Tokens issued on Friday evening would correspond to darshan slots on Saturday. Simultaneously, the SSD (Sarva Darshan) tokens would also be made available at the designated counters in the Alipiri Bhudevi Complex. To ensure smooth operation and address safety and traffic-related challenges, Mr. Rao directed the Vigilance and Security departments, along with the district police, to take precautionary measures in advance. A dedicated team of officers would be stationed at the Bhudevi Complex to oversee token issuance and ensure that the counters operate efficiently. Clear communication and widespread publicity about the temporary shift in token distribution had also been emphasised to avoid confusion among the devotees. TTD engineering officials had been instructed to establish robust queue systems to manage crowds effectively, and arrangements were being made to provide annaprasadam (free meal) and maintain hygiene. Mr. Rao also called for active involvement of the Srivari Sevaks (volunteers) to support the initiative. Among those present at the meeting were TTD Additional Executive Officer C.H. Venkayya Chowdary, Tirupati JEO V. Veerabrahmam, and in-charge CV&SO of TTD and Tirupati District SP V. Harshavardhan Raju.

Rs 10 lakh donated to TTD
Tirumala: Dr Satvika from Vijayawada has donated Rs 10 lakh to Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust of TTD on Monday. She handed over the DD to TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch Venkaiah Chowdary at Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the Srivari temple.

TTD mulls ‘Sadgamaya' to inculcate ethical values among students
Tirupati: With an aim to inculcate ethical values taught by Hindu Sanatana Dharma among the students who are the future pillars of the nation, the TTD has mulled an innovative programme, Sadgamaya - a path towards righteousness which will be implemented soon. In connection with this, a review meeting was held by TTD JEO Veerabrahmam at the Conference Hall of TTD Administrative Building in Tirupati on Monday. TTD JEO Veerabrahmam instructed the concerned that the programme should be developed in such a way that it should enhance the spirit of tolerance, empathy, honesty, compassion, confidence, self-discipline among the students. He also directed that the training schedule should include group activities, community service and many more. Earlier, the HDPP secretary Sriram Raghunath explained to the JEO the intention behind the programme through a power point presentation stating that the progamme aims at laying a strong moral foundation among the students, in their character development, fostering social and emotional skills, love-affection-gratitude towards parents and teachers, compassion, integrity and thereby making the students the true and responsible citizens of the country. He said the programme will commence with the students of TTD schools initially. All Projects Special Officer Raja Gopal, SE Manoharam, DEO Venkata Sunil, VGO Sada lakshmi, CMO Dr Narmada, Additional HO Dr Sunil, DE (Electrical) Saraswati, OSD SVBC Padmavati and other officers were also present.
