According to the All India Sarafa Association, the yellow metal of 99.9 per cent purity reached Rs 99,800 per 10 grams on Monday. Its value had declined Rs 20 to close at Rs 98,150 per 10 grams on Friday.

'This year, gold and silver prices have experienced significant movements due to ongoing trade tensions, rate cut expectations, geopolitical uncertainties and weakening dollar. So far, gold has soared over 25 per cent, including a 6 per cent gain since April 2 tariff announcement by the US administration," Satish Dondapati, Fund Manager at Kotak Mahindra AMC, said.

Globally, gold futures breached the psychological $3,400-mark for the first time ever, rising $80 per ounce, or 2.4 per cent.
'Gold prices continued their positive momentum and have risen briefly above $3,400 per ounce, as trade tariff related uncertainty, weakness in the US dollar and rising Treasury yields continue to keep the bullion supported.
'There has been increased buying activity among ETF investors, while upcoming festive demand in India is seen fulling additional support," Pranav Mer, vice-president, EBG of commodity & currency research at JM Financial Services, said.
Kaynat Chainwala, AVP of commodity research, Kotak Securities said gold prices continued its rally as the US dollar fell to a new three-year low and safe-haven buying intensified following US President Donald Trump's threat to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Spot silver in the Asian market hours rose nearly 1 per cent to USD 32.85 per ounce.
According to Abans Financial Services' Chief Executive Officer Chintan Mehta, market participants will closely watch President Trump's evolving tariff strategy and its broader economic impact, alongside commentary from Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) members for clues on interest rate direction.
Any signals of further easing or prolonged uncertainty could reinforce gold's appeal and keep safe-haven demand elevated, Mehta said.

India Reduced Poverty By Record Levels But 45% Of Pakistan's Population Is Poor, Reveals World Bank
Last Updated: In an assessment earlier this April, the World Bank said 1.9 million additional people fell into poverty in 2024-25 in Pakistan India has brought a record number of people out of poverty as per the World Bank, but the latter's latest projection on Pakistan says nearly 45 per cent of its population lives in poverty, while 16.5 per cent lives in extreme poverty. This is after a World Bank revision of the threshold poverty line last week. In an assessment earlier this April, the World Bank had said 1.9 million additional people fell into poverty in 2024-25 in Pakistan. India has been making a case before the IMF and the World Bank that Pakistan has been misusing global aid for the purposes of terrorism against India. The World Bank data could be further used by India to raise strong doubts on how Pakistan has been using global aid from agencies like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the purported benefit of its common people. India's extreme poverty rate declined sharply to 5.3 per cent over a decade from 27.1 per cent in 2011-12, even as the World Bank has revised upwards its threshold poverty line to $3 per day. India has lifted 171 million people from extreme poverty in the decade between 2011-12 and 2022-23, as per the World Bank. The World Bank report on Pakistan in April said the country's 2.6 per cent economic growth 'remains insufficient to reduce poverty". The poverty rate is estimated to stand at 42.4 per cent (US$3.65/day 2017 PPP) in FY25 in Pakistan, 'virtually unchanged from last year", the report said. 'With population growing at nearly 2 per cent annually, this translates to 1.9 million additional people falling into poverty this year," the report said. The World Bank also said the agriculture sector faces significant challenges in Pakistan as in 2025, weather conditions deteriorated with a 40 per cent reduction in rainfall, alongside pest attacks and shifting production choices. 'Crop yields are projected to decline, ranging from 29.6 per cent for cotton to 1.2 per cent for rice, limiting sectoral growth to under 2 per cent," the report says. With India putting the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, water flow to Pakistan's Punjab has also been severely affected, which could also put agriculture yield in Pakistan under severe stress. CNN-News18 had reported on Sunday that Pakistan's official data shows a 15 per cent drop in water flow in the Indus Water Basin in Punjab with the Dams Level at many Pakistani dams nearing the dead level. 'With agriculture employing approximately half of the working poor, rural poverty is expected to rise slightly (0.2 percentage points), while real incomes for agricultural workers are projected to fall 0.7 per cent in FY25. Food security concerns loom large, with an estimated 10 million people at risk of acute food insecurity in rural areas," the report says. The report said the consumption-based inequality in Pakistan has climbed nearly 2 points since FY21, holding steady just below 32 over the past year. 'However, actual inequality is likely higher since surveys typically underrepresent wealthy households. Additionally, external factors such as evolving global trade dynamics, could influence the pace of economic recovery and subsequent progress on poverty reduction." This auto driver earns Rs 800000 per month, doesn't ride for single KM but earns in lakhs due to…
Indians businesspersons are known for their unique business strategies. Recently a LinkedIn post about an auto driver from Mumbai went viral on social media. According to the post by Rahul Rupani autorickshaw driver earns in lakhs per month, without even driving an autorickshaw like other auto drivers. He uses his auto for a different purpose which is itself an unique business idea which no one can think of. Rahul Rupani, a product leader at Lenskart, shared the story of the autorickshaw driver who waits outside the US Consulate. Rahul had taken a visa appointment there, and after reaching there he got to know from the security staff that he can't carry a bag inside the building. As per the consulate's regulations, visitors are not allowed to carry their bags inside. Rahul didn't find any alternatives to keep the bags as there were no lockers provided by them. When Rahul was worried standing outside the US consulate then this autorickshaw driver came to his rescue. The driver told Rahul that he will keep his bag safe, but Rahul didn't trust him immediately. But when he found the driver's business he was also surprised. The Mumbai autorickshaw driver was storing bags of the visitors with charges Rs. 1000 each. According to the post he was keeping 20 to 30 bags like this daily. After knowing this Rahul decided to keep his bag with auto driver. Sharing the full story Rahul wrote: 'I was outside the US Consulate this week for my visa appointment, when security told me I couldn't carry my bag inside. No lockers. No suggestions. Just: Figure it out. While I stood clueless on the footpath, an auto driver waved at me. 'Sir, bag de do. Safe rakhunga, mera roz ka hai. Rs. 1000 charge hai.' I hesitated. Then gave in. And that's when I discovered this guy's brilliant business.' Rahul mentioned in a linked post how the autorickshaw driver doesn't travel a single km, but earns from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh per month. Rahul also shared another story wherein the auto driver has teamed up with a local police officer, who has a small locker near the US Consulate, because he has no space or cannot legally keep 30 bags in his vehicle. Rahul added: 'But it gets better: Since he can't legally keep 30 bags in his auto, he's partnered with a local police officer who owns a small locker space nearby. Bags go there. Legal. Secure. Zero hassle. The auto just acts as the conversion funnel. And while most people are sweating over US visa interviews, this guy is running a zero-mile, hyper-profitable, bootstrapped operation. No MBA. No startup jargon. Just pure hustle and street-smart product-market fit.'
