PM Modi to attend International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam on June 21
New Delhi [India], May 28 (ANI): This year's International Yoga Day is set to be a grand celebration, with Visakhapatnam hosting a record-breaking yoga event. On June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the celebrations, which will feature over 2.5 lakh people performing yoga together at a single location -- an attempt to set a new world record.
The grand event will take place along the 27-kilometer-long coastal road of Visakhapatnam, which will serve as the venue for this massive yoga session. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also expected to join PM Modi for the yoga performance.
Reflecting on the journey of International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Modi remarked that the first International Yoga Day was observed on June 21, 2015, and has since evolved into a global celebration of wellness. He described it as India's precious gift to humanity, beneficial for generations to come.
As the world prepares for International Yoga Day 2025, the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' is at the centre of this year's celebrations. Numerous initiatives and events are planned around this theme: Coordinated yoga demonstrations at 10,000 locations, aiming for a world record.
There will be global partnerships with 10 countries to hold yoga sessions at iconic landmarks, along with creation of 1,000 yoga parks to promote community participation.
Special yoga programmes for differently-abled individuals, senior citizens, children, and marginalised groups will also be there. Further, an impact assessment of yoga's role in public health over the last decade.
Other notable events include: a virtual Global Yoga Summit featuring renowned yoga experts and healthcare professionals; a sustainability-driven campaign, linking yoga with tree plantation and cleanliness drives; youth engagement programmes to inspire younger generations to take up yoga; a week-long celebration at 10 key locations, culminating in a central event led by PM Modi.
With these efforts, International Yoga Day 2025 aims not just to promote yoga as a wellness practice but to position it as a cornerstone of sustainable, inclusive global health. (ANI)

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 11 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday urged citizens to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions amid the ongoing severe heatwave conditions sweeping the state. Addressing the escalating temperatures, Pathak highlighted the measures taken by the Health Department to manage the crisis. He noted that hospitals in the state are on high alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies. He also urged citizens to only step out of the house unnecessarily during such severe heatwaves. 'In view of the extreme heat conditions, the Health Department has made necessary arrangements. All hospitals have been put on alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies, and continuous monitoring is underway. Citizens are advised not to step out unless necessary. If stepping out, they should protect their heads with an umbrella or towel, as the sunlight is currently very intense. Please stay alert and take all precautions,' he said. The heatwave has particularly affected many regions of the state, with heatwaves reported in a few places over South Uttar Pradesh, with gradual respite from the heatwave over Northwest India likely from 14th June as per the India Meteorological Department. Ayodhya District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde also outlined proactive steps to mitigate its impact. 'We had prepared an action plan considering the heatwave in Ayodhya and according to this, a strategy was made for the steps to be taken by various departments. We are ensuring that the residents and tourists face no inconvenience and get enough cold water to drink. We have arranged shades and water for domestic as well as street animals. We appeal to all the tourists to stay in the shade while visiting the temple (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple). If you need any medical help, we have reserved special beds for those affected by the heatwave. Consistently drink cold water,' Funde stated, emphasising the administration's efforts to support both locals and pilgrims. Speaking on the completion of 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in the centre, Pathak said that the vision of Viksit Bharat was being realised through unprecedented progress across sectors, from space science to medical and agricultural advancements. Haryana CM Saini lays foundation stone of 225-bed hospital at Jatela Dham on Swami Nitanand Ji's Nirvana Day
Jhajjar (Haryana) [India], June 11 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a 225-bed modern hospital at Jatela Dham in village Majra (Dubaldhan), in Jhajjar district of Haryana, on the occasion of the 225th Nirvana Day of Swami Nitanand Ji. According to the release, on the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Swami Nitanand Ashram Gaushala and planted saplings to promote environmental conservation. He also announced Rs 31 lakh from his discretionary fund for the hospital project. Additionally, Cabinet Ministers Arvind Sharma and Krishan Kumar Bedi contributed Rs 11 lakh each from their respective discretionary funds. Extending greetings on the occasion of Purnima, CM Saini said that Jatela Dham has emerged as a confluence of faith, service, and environmental commitment and described the Dham as a spiritual hub flourishing under the guidance of saints. The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of saints like Swami Nitanand Ji, society is guided towards righteousness, making all goals achievable and urged the people to imbibe the values preached by Swami Nitanand Ji, noting the mission's ongoing efforts to eradicate social evils. Speaking at the inauguration of the hospital's first phase, he said the institution will be a true temple of humanitarian service, set to benefit not just Jhajjar but also surrounding regions. He added that every district in Haryana will soon have modern and well-equipped hospitals. Highlighting healthcare initiatives, the Chief Minister said the state government is committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.' He referred to schemes like Chirayu Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, free dialysis in government hospitals, and Nirogi Haryana. He also noted that Rs 10,159 crore has been allocated to the health sector for the current financial year. He stated that Haryana is the first state to provide free medicines for Hepatitis B and C and is in the process of establishing medical colleges in every district, increasing the total number to 15. The Chief Minister highlighted the National Cancer Institute at Badhsa in Jhajjar and shared that over 1.33 crore Chirayu cards have been issued in the state. Addressing environmental concerns, CM Saini commended Jatela Dham's initiative to plant approximately 82,125 saplings and reaffirmed the government's dedication to environmental protection. He mentioned that under the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign, Haryana planted over 1.87 crore saplings in the first phase and aims to plant another 1.82 crore in the second phase. A large number of Veer Naris attended the event and presented a Sindoor plant to the Chief Minister as a token of patriotism. CM Saini acknowledged Jhajjar as a land of brave soldiers and lauded its strong sense of nationalism and service.
