Elderly Palestinian man injured in attack by Israeli settlers south of Hebron
Hebron - Saba:
An elderly Palestinian man was injured and bruised on Monday evening following an attack carried out by Israeli settlers on a number of citizens in the Masafer Yatta area south of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.
Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh told the Palestinian News Agency that settlers from the settlement outpost called "Mitzpe Yair" released their livestock into agricultural lands planted with seasonal crops and fruit trees, located between Khirbet Iqwis and the village of Sha'b al-Batm in Masafer Yatta.
He explained that residents attempted to confront the settlers and prevent them from destroying the crops, but the settlers attacked them and assaulted the elderly man, Rabhi al-Najjar, causing him bruises.
The settlers also fired live bullets at the citizens, but no injuries were reported. Israeli forces detained a number of citizens for more than half an hour.
It is noteworthy that the area is frequently subjected to attacks by settlers and enemy soldiers, as part of attempts to displace residents and seize control of their agricultural and pastoral lands.
