City schools face probe for using private textbooks
Ahmedabad: Complaints surfaced regarding the use of textbooks from private publications in some schools in Ahmedabad, despite regulations mandating the use of govt-prescribed books.

In response, the Ahmedabad City district education officer (DEO) issued notices to Nelson Primary School in Maninagar and United Valley International School in Vastral.
Nelson School, previously fined Rs 10,000 for using private publications, was once again found using such books. As per the notice, the school must provide a clarification within two days, and further action, including a Rs 25,000 fine under RTE provisions, may follow if violations continue.
Similarly, United Valley School was also served a notice for using and selling private publications and other materials on campus.
The school was asked to explain why a Rs 10,000 penalty should not be imposed.
According to regulations, students in state schools should be taught using only the officially prescribed textbooks. However, some private schools allegedly push parents to purchase expensive private books, often sold within the school premises at inflated prices. In light of this, strict action is being planned against such institutions. The DEO is investigating and has demanded clarifications from the schools involved.

Top Naxal With Rs 45 Lakh Bounty Killed In Chhattisgarh Encounter

According to IG Bastar, an AK-47 rifle, explosives, other weapons, and a significant quantity of ammunition have also been seized during the encounter. The encounter was a part of an ongoing crackdown against Naxal insurgents in the region, and officials believe this is a significant blow to Maoist operations in the area. The encounter was being carried out as part of the encounter by personnel from the state police's Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) as well as the CRPF's specialised unit CoBRA, said Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range Sundarraj.
