Venus Williams gets a US Open wild card at age 45 and will be the oldest in singles since 1981
The American will be the oldest entrant in singles at the tournament since Renee Richards was 47 in 1981, according to the International Tennis Federation.
Williams already had been given a wild-card entry by the U.S. Tennis Association for next week's mixed doubles competition. Singles matches begin in New York on Aug. 24.
She is the owner of seven major singles championships — including at the U.S. Open in 2000 and 2001 — along with another 14 in women's doubles, all won with her younger sister, Serena, plus two in mixed doubles. Serena retired with 23 Slam singles trophies after playing at the 2022 U.S. Open.

As of June 26, she was ranked 530 by the American Junior Golf Association. She was even more successful on social media, ranking No. 81 among all high school and college athletes in terms of NIL valuations, according to Kai is now set to join a Hurricanes program that's won five national championships, but none since 1984, while producing one national player of the year in Tracy Kerdyk (1988). What's more, she will also get to play at Miami's home course, the prestigious Biltmore, which costs the public $200 for 18 holes. Of course, that might not be a huge thrill for Kai, whose grandfather owns courses on both sides of the Atlantic with ongoing projects in Oman and Vietnam. And that experience on a variety of challenging courses should come in handy in a highly competitive ACC, which boasts elite programs like Stanford, Florida State and Virginia. While Kai is among the most visible high school athletes in the country, she's may not be the biggest name at her school, where Tiger Woods' son Charlie also attends. Charlie, whose father is dating Kai's mother, is currently No. 14 on the AJGA boy's rankings.

Not only would a victory Wednesday maintain his perfect record on the season and extend Milwaukee's winning streak to 12 games, free hamburgers for the entire city of Milwaukee were on the line. 'I was nervous,' Woodruff said. 'There was a little bit more at stake today. I wanted to win those burgers bad. Who doesn't want a free burger?' The Brewers promptly beat the Pirates 12-5. Local restaurant chain George Webb has been promising free burgers if the Brewers won 17 consecutive games for decades, starting way back when Milwaukee was home to the minor-league Brewers of the old American Association. The promotion dropped to 13 games by the time the Braves made Milwaukee a big-league city in 1953 but that franchise couldn't make it happen before departing for Atlanta in 1966. Webb changed the promotion to 12 games when the Brewers moved from Seattle in 1970. In 1987, the Brewers opened the season with 13 wins in a row. More than 170,000 burgers were given away to mark the occasion. The Brewers accomplished the feat a second time in 2018. They closed the regular season with eight regular-season victories followed by four playoff wins. Milwaukee have come close on a few occasions since, including an 11-game winning streak earlier this season. The Brewers and their fans can relax and look down on the rest of MLB while they chomp on their burgers. Their 76 wins this year are six more than the second-best team, the Toronto Blue Jays. George Webb will announce the details of the giveaway on Thursday afternoon.

The Athletic first reported details of the temporary restraining order request. Anwar is further accused of sending packages and balloons to Donald's children, and travelled to Pittsburgh where he was holding a football camp, as she confirmed to Daily Mail on Wednesday. Although Donald claims he's never met Anwar, she nonetheless filed a pair of divorce petitions against him seeking millions of dollars. Donald also received Google Chat messages from his alleged stalker that he took as a threat against his 3-year-old son, according to the temporary restraining order request.
