Tears as Couple Find Abandoned and Injured Rabbit—Know What To Do

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. An abandoned bunny's rescue journey has captured the hearts of thousands online. Holly Murphy (@sleepyforestdweller) from Mooresville, North Carolina, shared how she and her boyfriend found the bunny—now named Honeybun—in woodland on the side of the road in a state park. "We are thinking he was an Easter gift that someone decided to dump after realizing he was too much responsibility. Honeybun was terrified and shaking, but immediately so sweet and trusting of us. He basically jumped into my boyfriend's arms! He was horribly matted and covered in urine. One of the vets we saw had to shave a golf ball-sized matted fur clump off of him and it was actually growing mold. This means he must have been neglected for his entire life," Murphy told Newsweek. In a video shared to TikTok, Honeybun trembles in the car before they took him home and arranged veterinary care. The footage garnered 184,300 likes and 1.4 million views on TikTok. "It has been a very long and rough week, we've now taken him to 3 different vets, including an emergency room stay after he entered GI Stasis on Friday this past weekend," she said. Gastrointestinal stasis (GI stasis) is a potentially life-threatening condition in rabbits where the digestive system slows down or stops entirely. It can be caused by stress, pain, dehydration, or poor diet, and may lead to a buildup of gas and harmful bacteria in the gut. Murphy said the emergency vet was able to stabilize Honeybun and provide fluids, along with extensive tests including bloodwork and X-rays. He is now under the care of an exotic animal specialist for his mouth injury and may require costly dental work or even tooth extraction depending on the condition of his nerve. Despite it all, Murphy shared that Honeybun is now eating and drinking on his own and is "in better spirits." She described him as "the sweetest baby" who "loves lettuce, giving kisses, and sitting in my lap!" The couple are fundraising for the bunny's veterinary care through a GoFundMe page. The response on TikTok has been overwhelmingly positive, with users expressing gratitude and empathy. "Thank you for taking this sweet bunny in and showing kindness and compassion to an animal in need," wrote PETA. "The baby was so scared," commented Hannah. "I also have a dumped bunny. Thank you for taking them in and saving them," added Taffy. One user shared their own experience: "Have a similar story (un)fortunately. neighbors told me they had seen a baby bunny by the river but i kept thinking nah, surely had to be a rabbit.. and oh boy was i wrong. Luckily, I finally managed to catch him on day 3 right before we got first freezing temperatures. he's turning 4 this year." Another echoed the sentiment: "I don't understand how people can think it's ok to just leave domestic animals out in the wild like that. thank you for rescuing and caring for this sweet baby," said Hannah. The Trumps Are Launching *Checks Notes* Gold, Trump-Themed Smartphones, And Unfortunately, You Read This Headline Right

While it may sound like a bad SNL sketch come to life, the news is true — the Trump Organization (revealed via Trump's son, Eric) has announced that they've licensed the presidential family name for smartphones and cellular services, calling it "Trump Mobile." I am personally no expert, but this kinda feels like the Wario to Ryan Reynolds's Mint Mobile, y'know? Here's what we know so far: The cellular service currently appears to have only one plan, titled "The 47 Plan" in reference to Trump's second term making him the 47th president. It's priced at — you guessed it — $47.45. The 45, I'm assuming, is in reference to his first term. For claiming to hate Taylor Swift, Trump's organization surely seems to be taking Easter egg notes from her, don't you think? Nonetheless, here's everything the plan claims to offer: Additionally, they're releasing a "T1 Phone" later this summer, which is described as a "sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance," and — seemingly — comes adorned with not only a massive T1 on the back, but also, of course, an American flag (because why wouldn't it!). The organization has specified, however, that the $499 phone was not designed or made by Trump Mobile, but by another company entirely. If the gold is a bit too flashy for you, no worries! They've unveiled a second, more subtle option (if, of course, yet another American flag and a massive "Trump" etching in the back is what you consider to be low-key). Trump Mobile / Via Related: "Let Them Eat Teslas": People At The "No Kings" Protests This Weekend Brought Signs That Were So Clever I'm Still Laughing About Them While the press release states that the phone is "proudly designed and built in the United States," in an interview this morning, Eric said that "eventually, all the phones can be built in the United States of America," continuing on about how "we have to bring manufacturing back" to the country. I'm no expert, but to kinda sounds currently not being made in the US, no? Some important context here: All of this comes less than a month after President Trump himself demanded that Apple and Samsung make major shifts to manufacture and build their smartphones in the United States, threatening to put "at least" a 25% tariff on their products if they didn't comply. And now, it seems the Trump family is entering the market themselves. Needless to say, the internet has had a lot to say about all of this: Editor's Note: While we can't endorse what X has become, we can bring you the worthwhile moments that still exist there, curated and free of the surrounding chaos. Jessica Alba Posts Heartfelt Father's Day Message After Filing for Divorce

Yesterday marked the first Father's Day since actress Jessica Alba filed for divorce from her husband, film producer Cash Warren. Alba, 44, and Warren met in 2004 and were married four years later. They separated in 2024 after 16 years of marriage, and the "Fantastic Four" star officially filed for divorce in February. "I've been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years - both as an individual and in partnership with Cash," Alba said earlier this year. "I'm proud of how we've grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals." At the time, Alba and Warren's split was described as "extremely amicable." Judging by her Father's Day social media activity, that assessment would be accurate. On her Instagram story Sunday, Alba posted a photo of Warren with their three children and an accompanying heartfelt message. "Happy Father's Day, @cash_warren,' Alba wrote. 'Our babies couldn't have a better dad — warm, kind, present, always knowing just what to say. I admire your patience and the way you hold space for them. Making them feel safe and light after every conversation. Thank you for being their rock 🫶🏽." Alba and Warren are the parents of three children: Honor, 16, Haven 13, and Hayes, 7. The photo she chose featured Warren holding Hayes as a newborn alongside his two eldest daughters. Back in April, Alba and Warren reunited to spend time with their kids on Easter, further indication that despite their differences, they remain committed to coparenting. That's great news for their children, and the two of them deserve kudos for how they've seemingly handled the situation.
