David Bowie first released music in the late 1960s, but it wasn't until the early 1970s that he took one of his strangest turns and unveiled what would go on to be regarded as not only one of his best works, but one of the most influential projects in rock history.
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars arrived in June 1972 and has been regarded as a classic ever since. Multiple versions of the project have been released and reached the charts as separate entities. One take reappears on multiple tallies in the United Kingdom as people across the European nation begin snapping it up in large quantities yet again.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars performs best on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, where it's a top 40 bestseller again this frame thanks to a reentry point of No. 29.
It doesn't perform quite as well on the other two purchase-centric rankings on which it returns, but the fact that the decades-old title is back at all is a nod to its ongoing influence and popularity. Bowie's artistic statement reenters the Official Physical Albums list at No. 61 and finds its way back to the Official Albums Sales chart at No. 67.

Bowie's fifth full-length has spent more than 100 weeks on each chart where it returns this frame, and it's managed a much greater cumulative total when every version of the project is taken into consideration. He's sent the groundbreaking work into the top five on each list, and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars has stalled in the runner-up spot on the vinyl tally and peaked at No. 5 on both the Albums Sales and Physical Albums charts.
Three David Bowie Albums Live on the Charts
Three different collections by Bowie live on the U.K. music rankings as The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars returns. His Legacy compilation climbs on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming lists, while his Labyrinth album, which accompanied the movie of the same name, leaps from No. 30 to No. 16 on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart.
David Bowie's Brilliant Adventure EP
Bowie even manages to return to a list seemingly focused on songs — though he does so with a short project. The late star's Brilliant Adventure EP breaks back onto the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 48. The former No. 1 has spent 67 frames somewhere on the tally, and since its runtime is enough, the title counts as a single and not an album.
