It's fascinating to think that coaches later became frustrated with Towns' defense. After all, Tom Thibodeau already coached Towns for three seasons in Minnesota, when Knicks assistant Rick Brunson and Larry Greer were on hand too.
In other words, shouldn't the Knicks' coaching staff already have had a complete grasp of what Towns is and isn't capable of? It's not like he suddenly lost his athleticism or was bouncing back from a serious injury, and judging by his scoring numbers, Towns was healthy.
Perhaps all the Knicks need is more time, like an offseason to build chemistry and reinforce defensive tactics to get Towns in sync with the rest of the team. If not, there could be trouble afoot in New York.

But on the other side of the coin, his ability to score in bunches is inherently valuable. That being said, the Knicks kind of already have that in recent signing Jordan Clarkson, who Bailey mentioned in the article. Perhaps Westbrook would have been a better fit in the Big Apple had New York not already signed another high-volume scoring guard. First look at NASCAR's 2026 Cup Series schedule, from Daytona to Homestead
The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series schedule features a new race at a military base, a return to a track once thought lost to time, a new All-Star Race host and a new site for the championship finale, according to a copy obtained by The Athletic and confirmed via multiple sources briefed on the league's plans. Advertisement The 38-race season (36 points races and two non-points races) opens with the Clash exhibition on Feb. 1, 2026, followed by the Daytona 500 on Feb. 15 and concluding with the championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 8, 2026. Homestead returns as the host track for the championship for the first time since 2019, replacing Phoenix Raceway, which is now slotted elsewhere in the 10-race playoffs. NASCAR announced the switch this spring, beginning a rotation of its championship race to different tracks on an expected yearly basis. In addition to Homestead returning as the championship venue, the other three big changes to the 2026 schedule are a temporary street circuit constructed at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, the return of Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., after a six-year absenceO To make room for San Diego and Chicagoland, NASCAR won't return to Mexico City or the Chicago Street Course, a temporary circuit built in downtown Chicago that's held Cup races for the past three years. Recently, The Athletic released their annual list of the best 25 players under the age of 25, and Chase was ranked number one, ahead of Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. 'One of the top two or three most dominant receivers in the game, Chase led the league with 1,708 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns and has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four NFL seasons. He's also a four-time Pro Bowl selection and took home first-team All-Pro honors last season,' noted Mike Jones in his write-up of Chase's spot for The Athletic. A dominant player for the Bengals At the current moment, most fans seem to agree that Chase is in a two-man race with his former LSU Tigers teammate Justin Jefferson, now a star for the Minnesota Vikings, for the title of the best wide receiver in the league. Chase shook off a shaky start last year to once again establish himself as a force for the Bengals offense, and he and his Cincinnati teammates will look to hit the ground running in 2025, something they have been unable to do in years past. Chase's combination of speed, strength, hands, and route-running ability has made him a nightmare for opposing defenses dating back to the 2021-22 season, in which the Bengals made a Super Bowl appearance thanks in large part to his brilliance. The Bengals haven't been able to recapture that magic in the years since, but with Chase and Burrow leading the charge, nothing is off the table.
