Innovative enterprises are an important part of Shanghai's modern industrial system and the source of vitality for Shanghai's high-quality development. In recent years, innovative enterprises in Shanghai have been growing and developing rapidly, having an obvious driving effect on the industry. The enterprises awarded this time are from key industrial fields such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, digital economy, and emerging strategic comprehensive industries. All the selected enterprises exhibit the characteristics of strong innovation leadership, vigorous development vitality, and obvious agglomeration development.
Hua Medicine, headquartered in Shanghai but with a global outlook, is leveraging China's evolving pharmaceutical regulatory landscape and the innovative drug full-chain industrial environment such as the pharmaceutical research and development, production, and business environment created by Shanghai to continuously accelerate the transformation and implementation of innovative achievements. Hua Medicine took ten years to develop a globally first-in-class and national Class I new drug, glucokinase activator (GKA) dorzagliatin (Trade name:) independently, which was first launched in China, with a globally new target and a new mechanism.
In September 2022, dorzagliatin was approved for marketing by the National Medical Products Administration of China for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is the first GKA approved for marketing worldwide and has also become the tenth class of diabetes treatment drugs recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO). By the end of 2023, dorzagliatin was successfully included in China's National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL), greatly improving the accessibility and affordability of this innovative drug for patients.
As a global innovation leader in the GKA field, Hua Medicine has received national-level awards on multiple occasions during the research and development period and after the product launch, and has undertaken major national projects. These include being consecutively selected as a major new drug development special project under the "12th Five-Year Plan" and the "13th Five-Year Plan' by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and winning the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, among others.
Currently, Hua Medicine is actively carrying out the development of the second-generation GKA and fixed combination preparations, aiming to bring more innovative and good drugs to patients in China and even globally in the fields of diabetes and its complications, such as obesity and diabetic nephropathy.

Hua Medicine will continue to leverage its advantages of conceptual innovation, technological innovation, and model innovation, keep making progress, and contribute to the construction of Shanghai's scientific and technological innovation center and the innovative development of the biomedicine industry."
Receiving the title of "Shanghai Innovative Enterprise Headquarters" this time is not only an honor for Hua Medicine but also a responsibility and mission. In the future, taking this as an opportunity, Hua Medicine will continuously increase its innovation investment and the ability of achievement transformation, continuously enhance its international competitiveness, provide more high-quality innovative drugs and treatment solutions for patients, help Shanghai's biomedicine industry reach new heights, and promote the construction of the "Healthy China" strategy.

Jockey Club announces plans to become a global sports entertainment brand and to showcase Hong Kong as a centre for global exchange, connectivity and tourism

HONG KONG, May 12, 2025 /CNW/ -- Today (12 May), The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) announced the launch of a major initiative to transform itself into a global sports entertainment brand with the ultimate aim of creating even more value for the community. In support, the Club has entered into a strategic partnership with XIX Entertainment (XIX), one of the world's top entertainment brands. Over the past 20 years, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has become a world-class racing brand. Its Group 1 races and superstar horses feature strongly in the world rankings, with two of the world's best horses currently based in Hong Kong. Some of the world's best jockeys and trainers are in Hong Kong. The Club's racing is broadcast to millions of fans across five continents, with 25% of its income now derived from overseas. The Club's racecourse facilities are second to none. And through its Happy Wednesday brand, which showcases sports with entertainment, and major raceday events featuring international and Hong Kong stars, combining lifestyle and entertainment, the Club has developed a highly attractive racecourse entertainment experience. All of this has enabled the Club to significantly increase its support for the community. In 2023/24 alone, the Club contributed a record HK$40.1 billion in tax and approved charity donations. It has also made racing a highly attractive visitor experience, with over 143,000 tourists visiting the racecourses so far this season. This encouraging tourist attendance owes a great deal to the support for racing tourism in the recent Hong Kong CE Policy Address, and to the efforts of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Hong Kong Tourism Board in promoting Hong Kong horse racing globally. The Club is also grateful for the new strategic collaboration with the China Tourism Group in promoting the Club's world-class racing sport in the Mainland. Now the Club's vision is to go one step further - to become a global sports entertainment brand. In other words to create a holistically integrated racing, equestrian sports and entertainment experience, which will enable the Club to expand its fan base, especially to the younger generation, and to reach out to a global and Mainland audience. Ultimately the aim is to become the premier destination for global horse racing and equestrian sports. This, the Club believes, perfectly matches Hong Kong's aspiration to become a hub for international exchanges and cooperation, as well as a centre for international cultural exchange as outlined in the National 14th Five-Year Plan. It will also enable the Club to contribute even more to the betterment of society. As a first step, the Club is delighted to partner with XIX under the leadership of its visionary founder, Simon Fuller. The first collaboration will bring XIX's global pop group, Now United, to Hong Kong. The first initiative, Now United, will give Hong Kong's talent a chance to shine on the world stage, while through social media and racecourse performances the group will share positive stories about Hong Kong and Hong Kong racing with their millions of fans around the world. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, CEO of The Hong Kong Jockey Club said he was excited to announce the Club's plans to become a globally recognised sports entertainment brand, which will enable the Club to contribute even more to Hong Kong. Holistically integrating entertainment, racing and equestrian sport, at its heart will be a celebration of the strong bonding between horses and humans. This, he said, perfectly matches Hong Kong's aspiration to expand its global connectivity. Finally, looking ahead to the Year of the Horse in 2026, it is the perfect moment to use entertainment, lifestyle and social content to foster new connections and promote passion around the horse - heritage, power, elegance and emotion brought to life. Simon Fuller, the British-born Founder of XIX, said "I am excited to be collaborating with Hong Kong and the Jockey Club to create something aspirational and positive. I believe there is an important opportunity to bring inspiring and joyful entertainment to Hong Kong and Horse Racing. This is an incredible city full of potential with so many stunning iconic locations to share with the world." He added, "my global pop group Now United being here in Hong Kong is the beginning of many more exciting announcements in the coming months, leading to celebrating the year of the horse." Now United is XIX's multi-cultural global pop group, featuring young musical and dance talent from across the world. The collaboration with the Club will see a talent search in Hong Kong for the next member of the group. The finalist will receive masterclass training from top-class professionals at XIX Entertainment's Academy of Pop. There will also be a reality series and music videos filmed with Now United during their stay in Hong Kong, to be shared with their 40 million social media followers across multiple platforms around the world. Hong Kong audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy Now United's live performances at the Club's racecourses and at the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races in December 2025. The search for the next member of Now United in Hong Kong will begin with auditions for people aged 18 or above starting from today (12 May). AI Paradox in QA: Twice as Many Testers Fear Job Loss, But Adoption Keeps Climbing

ATLANTA, GA, Mar 31, 2025 - (ACN Newswire) - Despite fears of job loss, Quality Assurance (QA) professionals are leaning into AI faster than ever, according to Katalon's newly released 2025 State of Software Quality Report. The report reveals that testers using AI tools are twice as likely to fear being replaced by them, a paradox that underscores the profession's evolving relationship with automation. Yet those with stronger AI fluency aren't just adapting—they're testing faster, leveling up their skills, and reclaiming joy in the work that once burned them out. That shift is fueled by both urgency and intent. As AI reshapes expectations, 82% of QA professionals say AI skills will be critical in the next 3 to 5 years, and teams are already adapting. The report finds that those with higher AI fluency excel not just at using new tools, but in test planning, problem-solving, and applying AI concepts in real-world scenarios. To close the skills gap, 67% of teams are investing in continuous learning, while 53% are adopting AI-driven testing practices to stay ahead. And for the most advanced teams, QA is no longer just a safeguard, it's a business enabler. In fact, 77% of respondents say aligning QA with business goals has helped improve customer retention. Katalon's 2025 State of Software Quality Report surveyed over 1500 quality professionals, from engineers to senior executives, across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The report explores the challenges, capabilities, and innovations shaping today's testing landscape—and how QA teams are evolving from execution-focused roles to strategic drivers of business value. 'The shift toward AI-powered testing isn't just accelerating—it's inevitable. This year's report validates what we've long believed: QA professionals, the unsung heroes of software innovation, are navigating intense pressure to move faster without compromising quality, and their impact is finally being recognized, with 48% of organizations now viewing QA as a competitive advantage. Looking ahead, the future of quality will belong to teams who can combine AI fluency with human insight to lead testing into a smarter, more adaptive era.' – Vu Lam, CEO of Katalon The key highlights of Katalon's 2025 State of Software Quality Report are: - AI Integration with Human Expertise: Testers who blend AI, automation, and manual testing skills with critical thinking, the new generation of hybrid testers—are leading the next wave of innovation in software quality. According to the report, high-maturity QA teams that leverage these hybrid testers are 1.3 times more likely to adopt AI-augmented test optimization and 1.8 times more likely to implement intelligent test maintenance practices like self-healing tests, compared to lower-maturity teams. - The Happiness Edge: Happier QA pros aren't just more satisfied, they're more effective. According to the report, they're 1.4 times more likely to implement advanced automation solutions (46% vs. 34%) and 1.4 times more likely to say AI has improved efficiency and automation in their roles (71% vs. 52%). As organizations modernize, these findings reveal a clear connection between job satisfaction and innovation in software quality. - AI and The Future of QA: AI-driven testing is gaining momentum, with 61% of QA teams adopting it to automate repetitive tasks and free up time for more strategic work. Forward-looking teams are embracing advanced automation tools, augmented with AI, with the potential to make testing more adaptive, efficient, and intelligent. Beyond AI, they're also investing in performance and load testing tools (34%) and test management platforms (30%) to further optimize workflows and scale quality with confidence. - Redefine quality with AI: The research shows that high-performing teams are modernizing on three critical fronts: 61% are adopting AI-driven tools, 51% are using modern development practices, and 40% are investing in continuous testing. Together, these shifts are accelerating release cycles while preserving what matters most: trust, reliability, and quality at scale.
