Payne Spring residents left with property damage after severe weather
PAYNE SPRINGS, Texas (KETK)– East Texas was hit by several severe storms on Memorial Day, as residents in Henderson County were met with a scary situation before sunrise.

'The tree limb had gone into my closet, narrowly missing where I sleep in the bedroom,' homeowner Susan Waterman said.
The tree came crashing onto Waterman's roof, causing major damage and thankfully no residents inside the home were injured.
'I feel very thankful today, despite the damage,' Waterman said.
Harsh winds and intense rain from this morning's storms snapped trees and caused power lines to come down all around the Payne Springs area of Henderson County. After the peak of the storms, more than 13,000 customers throughout East Texas were left without power.
'I didn't have electricity this morning,' homeowner Stan Williams said.
Fallen trees littered the road, and several knocked-out power lines were laying around Williams' neighborhood of Enchanted Oaks.
'I saw quite a number of trees that are down over the road, and power lines down all over Enchanted Oaks,' Williams said.
Cleanup progress has already taken place, despite threats of incoming storms.
'I know our neighborhood took quite a hit,' Waterman said. 'Everyone has been super helpful and kind, and I'm going to get some tarps out and we'll just clean it up.'
No residents were reported injured during Monday's severe weather.

Saharan dust continues to move through South Florida. Here's what to expect.
The haze and heat continue across South Florida as the NEXT Weather Team is tracking a hot and mostly dry weekend. Saharan dust continues to move through the area, keeping hazy skies in the forecast and only isolated inland shower chances. Afternoon highs climb into the lower to mid-90s both Saturday and Sunday, but "feels like" temperatures could peak around 100 degrees both days. CBS News Miami's NEXT Weather Meteorologist advises to hydrate early and often if spending time outdoors. The radar will remain quiet for most over the next couple of days. Rain chances are on the rise for the middle of next week as Saharan dust clears out of the area. The NEXT Weather team will be monitoring daily scattered rain chances Tuesday through Friday of next week as afternoon highs peak in the upper 80s.

Storm Team 3: Weather Aware over the next few days
We're tracking hot and humid weather over the weekend as highs both today and tomorrow reach the low to mid 90s and heat index values reach the triple digits. This heat will allow extra energy and strength to fuel incoming storms. Saturday looks to remain mainly dry throughout the day up until midafternoon through the evening when storms are likely to develop. There is a risk for isolated severe storms south of I-16 and scattered severe storms north of I-16 today. The main threats include damaging straight-line wind and heavy rain embedded within the storms. A dry period of weather moves in overnight, but storms ramp right back up late morning to early afternoon tomorrow. All of the viewing area sees a possibility of scattered severe storms tomorrow with the threats remaining the same with damaging straight-line winds and heavy rain. Because of the severe storm threat this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday are The storm chances do not look to be going anywhere as we continue to see fronts stall around us all week allowing for scattered storms to continue. Monday has already been put under a medium risk of seeing scattered severe storms. Monday will also be a with threats including gusty winds and heavy rain. It is possible that this severe storm risk will continue this upcoming work week as temperatures stay in the 90s and heat index values stay in or very close to the triple digits allowing extra energy to fuel storms. Today: Mixed clouds, high 80 Tonight: Showers/ t-storms, low 64 Sunday: Scattered storms, high 78 (63) Monday: Rain & rumbles, high 77 (60) Tuesday: Chance of rain, high 79 (60) Wednesday: Partly sunny, high 83 (63) Most rain showers will hold off during the daytime hours. Next chance of showers and storms will arrive closer to sunset. Seasonable temperatures near 80 this afternoon will not feel as nice with some humidity sticking around. Additional rain rolls in tonight. This comes will a few chances for thunderstorms as well. No storms that do develop are expected to be severe. Humidity sticks around too keeping things muggy with mild temperatures falling into the mid 60s. Tomorrow clears out most of the rain during the morning. While most of the day will stay dry, there are going to be a few chances up pop-up showers and storms by the afternoon. A low pressure center scooting over the region will drop temperatures a little, but high will remain fairly close to seasonable. A cold front pushes through central Ohio on Monday bring yet another round of showers and storms. They are not expected to arrive until the late afternoon hours. This will also be the coolest day of the week. Conditions for the rest of the work week are going to stay mainly dry as temperatures eventually warm back up into the mid 80s.
