Victims of Montana bar shooting identified as manhunt for military veteran suspect continues

Fox News10 hours ago
Officials have identified the four victims who were shot and killed when an Army veteran allegedly opened fire at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday morning.
At about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 45-year-old Michael Brown allegedly entered The Owl Bar and opened fire, killing 59-year-old Daniel Edwin Baillie, 64-year-old Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 70-year-old David Allen Leach, and 74-year-old Tony Wayne Palm, all of whom were residents of Anaconda.
Brown remains at large as search efforts continue in the Stumptown area, just west of Anaconda, where the suspect was last seen.
Authorities released a photo of Brown on Saturday, showing him barefoot and shirtless, walking down a flight of steps.
The photo showed Brown wearing black shorts and fleeing after the shooting Friday, according to the state Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
It is unclear what led to the shooting.
DCI Administrator Lee Johnson said in a statement Friday evening that officials had located the white F-150 pickup truck in which Brown allegedly fled. However, Brown was not located in or around the vehicle.
After discovering the vehicle, authorities focused their search on the mountains near Stumptown Road. The search continued into Sunday and has involved air and ground resources.
SWAT also cleared Brown's house Friday, though he remained at large.
Law enforcement officials have not received reports of Brown harming any other people, though he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Residents in the area have been encouraged to stay inside their homes and remain on high alert.
DCI has warned residents that if they see Brown not to approach him. Instead, residents are encouraged to call 911 immediately. He has been described as 5-foot-10 and about 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
Brown was an armor crewman in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005 and served in the National Guard from April 2006 to March 2008, Army Public Affairs confirmed to Fox News Digital. He deployed to Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005 and left the service with the rank of sergeant.
He also served as an armor crewman in the Montana National Guard from April 2006 to March 2009, officials said.

Edinburgh gang leader warns Dubai-based kingpin 'we'll take you out in the desert'

Edinburgh drugs kingpin Ross McGill, now based in Dubai, has been warned by his enemies that he'll be taken out in the desert. The threat was allegedly made by rival mob bosses Mark Richardson and the Daniel crime clan, reports the Daily Record. They're said to have demanded McGill, 32, comes back to Scotland to face them - or he'll be 'targeted' in the United Arab Emirates. In a message posted online they said: "It will have to be the desert in Dubai. Finish what you started. No more hide and seek." Other posts have branded McGill a "rat" and a "p***y". The feud started after an associate of -Richardson, 38, ripped off McGill for £500,000 in a drug deal. McGill's Tamo Junto gang then waged war on the caged crime boss and the Daniels. Cops have so far made 55 arrests in connection with the feud as part of Operation Portelage. It's seen claims McGill has run out of foot soldiers and is lying low. A source said: "McGill has been splashing the cash getting a bunch of young laddies to carry out his attacks and record it on their phones. It's time for him to be a man and front up. The net is closing in on him." It was reported last month McGill was confronted by another gangster at a gym in Dubai over the heat he has brought. Stephen "Jimmy" Jamieson is understood to have clashed with McGill during the bust-up. The most recent arrest linked to the gang war was on July 18, when a man was collared and charged in connection with wilful fireraising and firearms offences. .Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. Jordan Steele, 38, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on July 21 in connection with the alleged firebombing of the Belle Cheveux beauty salon in the city's Leith on March 6. Steele was charged with firearms offences, including possessing a firearm without authorisation. He made no plea and was granted bail. A 26-year-old man was also arrested in connection with alleged damage at a property on Walter Scott Avenue in Edinburgh on June 12 and an alleged wilful fireraising at a property on Jackson Way in Tranent, East Lothian, the next day. Another 26-year-old man was charged in connection with two alleged vehicle fires in nearby Port Seton on May 18. Numerous firebombings and violent attacks have been carried out in Edinburgh and Glasgow since the feud erupted in March.

Ventura community mourns loss of cafe co-owner killed in Reno mass shooting

A Ventura County community is mourning the loss of a beloved 33-year-old man, co-owner of a popular restaurant, who was shot and killed outside a Reno, Nevada casino Monday in a mass shooting that left two others dead and three wounded. The violence unfolded outside the Grand Sierra Resort, one of Reno's most popular venues, at around 7:30 a.m. Authorities said the gunman walked up to the casino-hotel's valet parking area and pointed a handgun at a group of people. The firearm initially malfunctioned, but the shooter worked quickly to get it working, firing multiple rounds as he fled. While fleeing, the suspect shot an armed security guard, shot and killed a person driving their vehicle in the parking lot and also fired on a Reno police officer, striking the patrol vehicle before multiple officers returned fire and struck the man and took him into custody. The gunman, who has yet to be identified, was armed with multiple magazines, investigators said. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Andrew Canepa, co-owner of the Side Street Cafe in Newbury Park, was among the victims killed. The 33-year-old, who is the father of a 6-year-old boy, was remembered as a big reason the cafe is considered one of the most popular breakfast spots in the community. 'He would sit down with people at the booth, share with them and make them feel at home,' Canepa's friend Rick Bucaria told KTLA. 'Andrew was so warm and welcoming. He was always so happy.' Outside the family-owned cafe, which was closed for the first time in months, friends and employees grieved the loss of a man they described as a dedicated community member. 'It's because of the family tied to it, the love that comes from it,' Israel Rodriguez said. 'Andrew was a big part of that. He probably greeted and waited on almost everybody in this city.' After the 2018 mass shooting at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, Canepa helped organize a fundraiser. 'The community was ripped apart,' Rodriguez told KTLA. 'He was very active in helping victims. It's a sad, tragic turn of events that he's now a victim of that.' A GoFundMe has been organized to help support Canepa's son after the loss of his father.
