Former Real Housewife Lydia McLaughlin reveals brother killed during traffic stop
The brother of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Lydia McLaughlin was fatally shot by police in California.
Geoffrey Shyam Stirling was shot and killed by law enforcement during a routine traffic stop on the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, according to TMZ.
Stirling, 45, was reportedly riding his motorcycle when police pulled him over on April 17.
Sources said he was being 'uncooperative' and at least one Newport Beach officer shot him. No law enforcement officials were injured.
The California Attorney General's Office has since launched an investigation into the incident.
In a statement confirming the death to TMZ, McLaughlin, 44, said: 'My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community. We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn.'
McLaughlin's TMZ statement was followed by a cryptic post on Instagram. The reality star alum took to her channel to share an image with the message, 'He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.'
Next to the post, she wrote: 'Because of the pain of Good Friday, we have the JOY of Easter Sunday. #JesusIsLord.'
Also on Instagram, the Newport Beach Police Department revealed more details about the incident.
'On April 17, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a Newport Beach Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on West Coast Highway between Superior Avenue and Hoag Hospital,' the post read. 'The rider, identified as Geoffrey Shyam Stirling, a 45-year-old resident of Laguna Niguel, was stopped for a traffic violation.
'Shortly after being stopped, Stirling became uncooperative and assaulted the officer. During the ensuing violent altercation, Stirling managed to remove the department-issued taser from the officer's duty belt and attempted to deploy it multiple times against the officer. At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
'Additional officers responded to the scene and rendered medical aid to Stirling until personnel from the Newport Beach Fire Department arrived. Stirling was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased,' the post continued.
The Independent has contacted McLaughlin's representatives for comments.
McLaughlin only appeared in Real Housewives of Orange County for seasons eight and 12. She's also starred in Tamra's OC Wedding, What's Up Orange County, and Meetings with Remarkable People.

The adult 'star' has already hit headlines with previous desperate stunts ONLYBANS Bonnie Blue BANNED from OnlyFans as adult 'star' set to lose massive '£600k a month' pay after 'extreme challenge' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CONTROVERSIAL "star" Bonnie Blue has been banned from OnlyFans and is set to lose her massive "£600,000 a month" pay - The Sun can reveal. The content creator who shot to fame by allegedly bedding 1,057 men in 24 hours has had her page pulled due to breach of terms after her "extreme challenge" content "crossed a line". She was making tens of thousand a month via OnlyFans and now that's gone. 'Her page has officially been pulled. Her latest stunts have taken things too far. She's crossed a line and OnlyFans had no choice but to act.' Bonnie - real name Tia Billinger - claims to earn £600,000 a month on the adult site. This means the 25-year-old from a rural village in Derbyshire would be making at least £7.2 million per year - until now. The adult "star" has already hit headlines with previous desperate stunts including apparently breaking the world record by sleeping with 1,057 men in just 12 hours. She then challenged Spring Break "barely legal" college boys to see who could give her the best orgasm - with a pledge to pay for the tuition of the "winner". An OnlyFans spokesperson said: 'Extreme 'challenge' content is not available on OnlyFans and is not permitted under our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service. "Any breach of our Terms of Service results in content or account deactivation.' Over the weekend Bonnie axed plans to hold a meet and greet session in London in which she would be tied up in a glass box. After pulling the stunt she then planned to host a graphic 24 hour live stream. Bonnie Blue arrested Bonnie was slammed for "promoting rape culture" and labelled "vile" for announcing what she called "Bonnie Blue's petting zoo". Explaining the sickening idea during an interview on Kat Baker's podcast, she said that she was going to be naked and tied up in a glass box, which would be "open for the public" to do basically whatever they want to her. When Kat asked "where" the box was going to be, Bonnie continued that she would be in "the centre of London" but "in a house". Making the planned event even more repulsive, Bonnie told Kat that she wanted to beat her own record by "doing 2,000". It comes just weeks after The Sun exposed Bonnie for deliberately faking an arrest in order to hit the headlines. Bonnie's right hand man - documentary maker Josh Spooner - also appeared in the clip. She was also banned from Nottingham Forest stadium last month. Despite being slapped with a permanent stadium suspension by Forest in April after trying to enter the ground and pull off a viral stunt, the adult content creator then sneaked into the Chelsea away end in disguise with a cap, wig and glasses. Bonnie was eventually found and escorted out - with footage circulating online capturing the moment.

Scots teacher who made ‘£60k a month' on OnlyFans struck off after pupils found saucy sex pics
The ex-physics teacher was found to be punting X-rated pictures of herself RAUNCHY MISS AXED Scots teacher who made '£60k a month' on OnlyFans struck off after pupils found saucy sex pics Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A TEACHER has been struck off after pupils discovered her OnlyFans profile online. Kirsty Buchan, 34, quit her job at Bannerman High School in Glasgow after her saucy side hustle was uncovered. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Kirsty Buchan has been struck off from teaching Credit: Alan MacGregor Ewing 3 The ex-Bannerman High teacher was caught sharing indecent images on OnlyFans Credit: Kirsty Buchan The ex-physics teacher was found to be punting X-rated pictures of herself. Buchan, of Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, called herself Jessica Jackrabbit on OnlyFans, a site where users pay a monthly subscription to access explicit content. She described herself as a "good teacher gone bad" with a "sexy tight body". Buchan advertised her OnlyFans account through Instagram, which pupils spotted, and previously claimed to have made £60,000 in just one month through the adult site. She was previously warned by her headteacher about her "poor judgment" on social media. And the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GCTS) has taken action by striking her off the teaching register. The regulation body found that Buchan had failed to conceal her identity and profession. It also concluded that her behaviour lacked integrity, as reported by the BBC. Gary Burton, solicitor and presenting officer for the GTCS, said the mum-of-one had "used her profession as a selling tool". He added that Buchan appeared to have backed up her OnlyFans work in media interviews and that Bannerman High was "now synonymous with having an OnlyFans teacher". Hundreds of pupils cheered on a teacher about to undergo lifesaving brain surgery - by rocking out to ACDC'S Thunderstruck She resigned from her position at the school in December 2022 after complaints were made. Buchan declined to appear or give evidence at the GTCS hearing. Bannerman High headteacher, Seonaidh Black, said Buchan was a "bubbly and enthusiastic" person who "wanted to do a good job". But she added that on a "couple of occasions", Buchan was unclear on boundaries with pupils concerning her social media profiles being "open where pupils could access them". Ms Black said that a colleague told her images of Buchan's OnlyFans profile were seen by S5 and S6 pupils. Senior schoolboys asked Ms Black if she had "heard the news?" and that she should "look out for Jessica Jackrabbit". Ms Black added that it was "obvious everyone knew what was going on". She tried to contact Buchan after talks with HR, but couldn't reach her. Buchan's OnlyFans profile was discovered just days before teachers went on strike over pupil behaviour. Ms Black said Buchan's activity online and the walkouts have had a "huge impact" on the school. Following a probe, Glasgow City Council said: "The council has a code of conduct that all employees should adhere to and a teacher who has actively pursued a second income on this type of website brings their school, the council and their profession into disrepute." The GTCS has been contacted for comment.

Teenager jailed in Dubai for family holiday romance appeals to Sheikh for pardon
A British teenager has asked Dubai's ruler for a pardon after he was jailedover a holiday romance. Marcus Fakana, from Tottenham, north London has formally submitted a plea for clemency to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The now 19-year-old was sentenced to one year in prison in UAE last year following a short romantic relationship in which he had sex with a 17-year-old British girl. Both his family and the girl's family were on holiday in the middle eastern country at the time. The relationship between them was consensual but it's illegal to have sex with anyone under 18 in Dubai. Marcus, who has spent several months in Al Awir Prison, hopes the Sheikh will offer a humanitarian pardon, so he can return home before his sentence is due to end, reports NeedToKnow. 'This has been the most traumatic and life-altering experience imaginable for Marcus,' said Radha Stirling, founder of Detained in Dubai, which is supporting the teen's family. 'He is barely an adult himself and never intended to break any law. 'What happened was legal in the UK and consensual. 'But now he is facing permanent damage to his mental health and future prospects because of it.' Conditions at the prison are said to be taking a toll on Marcus, who is thought to have limited contact with his family. The mother of the girl he had a relationship with reported him to Dubai police after she and her family had returned to the UK and she saw pictures of the pair and chats between them. The then 18-year-old and his family were still in Dubai at the time and police arrested him at their hotel. His parents have made repeated appeals to David Lammy MP, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. They have also asked the British Embassy in Dubai to help secure his release. Ms Stirling said: 'If Marcus could go back in time, he would. 'He has shown remorse and fully respects the laws of the UAE. 'He only hopes the government will show compassion and allow him to return home to rebuild his life. 'He's very young and this is a heartbreaking way to begin adulthood.' The family is urging the British public and authorities to back their plea for clemency. Ms Stirling warned other parents to be aware of the risks young Britons face in countries with very different legal systems. She said: 'Parents need to be aware that teens can be charged in the UAE for behaviour that would not be considered criminal at home. More Trending 'Whether that's a relationship, social media activity, or even drinking alcohol. 'Marcus is struggling, and this experience will leave a permanent scar. 'We implore Sheikh Mohammed and the government of Dubai to hear his pleas and let him come home.' Pardons are expected to be finalised this month.
