The battle continues
Follow our coverage of the WCWS from Oklahoma City as the six remaining teams chase the softball national title Imagn Images Imagn Images Really odd situation, as after a lengthy at-bat, Abigale Dayton just barely tipped a rise ball by Teagan Kavan that popped into and out of the glove of Reese Atwood behind the plate. Dayton was headed toward the dugout, and Tia Milloy ran home on what appeared to be the third out, but the umpires finally came to the conclusion that it was in fact a foul ball. Patty Gasso was getting a little heated talking to the umpire after what has been somewhat of an iffy inning in terms of strike calls by the home plate umpire. It ends up not mattering, as Kavan strands Milloy at third after getting Dayton to pop out to Mia Scott at third in foul territory. What a battle that was. Imagn Images B6 - Texas 3, Oklahoma 2 The Sooners got a runner to third base with one out, but Teagan Kavan got a strikeout and forced a foul out to Mia Scott at third base, and the Longhorns still have the lead. Imagn Images These Oklahoma fans are going WILD at Devon Park right now after a wild pitch by Teagan Kavan sends pinch-runner Tia Milloy to third with just one out as the tying run. But Kavan quiets them really quick after locking up pinch hitter Maya Bland with a rise ball up in the zone. Imagn Images The Longhorns have been hitting Sam Landry HARD all game, with only three runs to show for it. For example, Mia Scott ripped a single up the middle after Henry's homer, and Reese Atwood just smoked a liner toward third ... but right into the glove of Nelly McEnroe-Marinas. That ball popped off Atwood's bat so quickly that Katie Stewart didn't even have time to turn around to go back to first after her lead, ending the inning as she gets doubled-up at first. Texas is back on top!!! What a nice swing by Kayden Henry on a changeup by Sam Landry. Henry sunk into her front leg to really wait on that offspeed pitch and then let her hands do the rest of the work. She pulled that ball down the right-field line, and it was out of here QUICK to give the Longhorns a 3-2 lead. And they just showed her mom crying in the stands after the fact ... I may or may not have shed a tear. For anybody keeping track, Texas coach Mike White is now back in the third-base coach's box. I would pay to be a fly on the wall to see the reasoning behind this. The only other thing I can think of besides trying to pick Sam Landry's pitches is to maybe deter Oklahoma players from picking up on any of Texas' signs, but with arm cards and number combinations, that's not as common in the game anymore. B5 - Texas 3, Oklahoma 2 Wow, that came out of nowhere. Kayden Henry rips a quick shot over the right-field wall, and the Longhorns are back on top. Just like that. B5 - Oklahoma 2, Texas 2 Upon first glance, I was super confused by the fact that it looked like Texas first baseman Joley Mitchell just totally didn't go for that ball hit by Gabbie Garcia. But after seeing that replay, that ball took one of the weirdest hops we've seen all weekend so far. Can't fault Mitchell for that one. Teagan Kavan gets her fourth strikeout of the game on a beautiful curve that just nicks the outside corner to freeze Nelly McEnroe-Marinas in the box. Kavan looks so much more comfortable in the circle than she has in previous matchups against Oklahoma. To Molly's point about the offenses struggling, this feels like we're headed to another extra-inning game unless one of these teams can scratch something across. We saw that last night in the Oregon-Ole Miss game that went 10 innings and lasted four hours. Tavan Keagan and Sam Landry look like they're in complete control of these two offenses. After the Longhorns stranded two more runners in the bottom of the fourth, that's now nine total runners left on base between both teams in this game. With runners in scoring position, both Oklahoma and Texas are batting 1-4. Imagn Images T5 - Oklahoma 2, Texas 2 That being said, however, some of Sam Landry's changeups this inning have been nasty . If I'm a Texas hitter, I don't want anything to do with that pitch until there are two strikes in the count. They haven't been calling it, but Oklahoma's Sam Landry has been stepping out of the pitcher's lane (the two white chalk lines extended from the mound in the circle). That is considered an illegal pitch, but so far these umps haven't caught it. On the broadcast, though, it's very clear. If Texas coaches start to catch on and let these umpires know, that can really get in a pitcher's head and mess with her rhythm. Another odd thing that's happening is Texas coach Mike White has swapped from third base to first base coaching while the Longhorns are on offense. It appears he's trying to see if he can pick one of Landry's pitches to help his batters out to let them know what to look for to expect what's coming, but they've now also switched third-base coaches. I wonder what's going on in that dugout. B4 - Texas 2, Oklahoma 2 For as much as we've praised these offenses, there has not been an extra-base hit in this game. As my dad always says, it's time to "wake up the bats." I think the fans at Devon Park – probably mostly Oklahoma fans – are ready to explode after not seeing any homers since Tennessee's back-to-back shots in yesterday afternoon's matchup. B4 - Texas 2, Oklahoma 2 Teagan Kavan remains in control. She has three strikeouts and has allowed just one earned run through the first four innings. Imagn Images Rise balls are the hardest pitches to bunt, especially if it is as elite as Teagan Kavan's. The Sooners are trying to get a rally going, but Bella Emerling popped that attempt straight up to third base. One of the worst feelings as a player, to be so honest. Imagn Images T4 - Texas 2, Oklahoma 2 Similar to last night's matchup between Ole Miss and Oregon, a lot of these speedy batters are getting on quickly and then are left stranded on the bases. It's considerably harder for offenses to score runs with two outs based on just statistics alone, and so far neither team has been able to put up more than two runs so far in this one. Still a lot of game left, but at some point one of these explosive offenses has to break through. One player I'm still waiting to break out for Texas at the WCWS? Reese Atwood. She's the Longhorns' power bat, but we haven't seen one leave the park yet from the Longhorns catcher. B3 - Texas 2, Oklahoma 2 Teagan Kavan's rise ball is on another level right now. She has been getting some of these Sooners hitters to chase way up out of the zone. T3 - Texas 2, Oklahoma 2 That was a GREAT play by OU first baseman Cydney Sanders to step on first and make a clean throw to Gabbie Garcia at second base, who lays the perfect tag on Katie Stewart, erasing a leadoff walk. The broadcast just showed that Oklahoma already has six double plays this tournament, tied for the most by any team.

UFC Vegas 107 Start Time, Full Fight Card Details!
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back after a week off to stage UFC Vegas 107 later TONIGHT (Sat., May 31, 2025) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the ESPN+-streamed event will be a women's Flyweight fight between Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber. In the co-main event, Mateusz Gamrot battles fellow Lightweight Ludovít Klein. What's Hot: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Barber didn't do herself any favors in her match toward a potential title shot after she came in heavy for her Flyweight fight against Blanchfield. As a result, 'Future' will have to pay a portion of her fight purse to her opponent, and will not be eligible to win a $50,000 post-fight bonus. Should she win, matchmakers will likely be hesitant to award her a title shot due to the weight mishap, which means she is now at least two more wins away from getting her first-ever UFC title fight. It's a really big miss for Barber, as she is currently on a six-fight win streak and currently holds the No. 5 spot on the official rankings. UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Blanchfield comes out on top here in more ways than one. Not only does she get a little bump in her paycheck, but she also has the chance to double up on the bonuses should they get 'Fight of the Night.' Furthermore, should she 'humble' Barber in impressive fashion she will shoot to the top of the list of candidates to face Valentina Shevchenko down the road. Blanchfield is currently No. 4 in the rankings and is 7-1 overall inside the Octagon. Natalia Silva is in the top spot to face 'Bullet' next, but Blanchfield has the chance to get next dibs with an impressive win here. What's Not: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Rayanne dos Santos and Alice Ardelean will kick things off in a fight that is a must-win for both. Ardalean has lost her first two fights under the UFC banner, which isn't a good look for a fighter beginning his/her journey on the biggest stage. And dos Santos has suffered that same string of bad luck after going 0-2 to the start of her run. The loser of this fight will likely get cut. Original Card vs. Actual Card: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Oban Elliott was supposed to face Ramiz Brahimaj at this event, but was forced out as a result of visa issues. Brahimaj will now face Billy Ray Goff, who is coming off a loss against Trey Waters. Also, MarQuel Mederos was removed from his bout with Bolaji Oki because of an illness. As a result, Oki will now face newcomer Michael Aswell. Injuries: UFC Fight Night: Moreno v Albazi Official Weigh-in Trevin Giles suffered an injury a day before the UFC Vegas 107 weigh ins, forcing matchmakers to cancel his scheduled fight against Andreas Gustafsson, who was set to make his debut. New Blood: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Michael Aswell agreed to make his UFC debut on three days notice after MarQuel Mederos suffered an illness and was forced out of his fight against Bolaji Oki. Aswell lost his fight on the Contender Series, but bounced back with a win under the Fury FC banner. Now, he has a chance to shine in his UFC debut against Oki, who is 1-1 inside the Octagon and is coming off a loss at the hands of Chris Duncan. How The 'Prelims' Look: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In In Lightweight action, Kurt Holobaugh will attempt to get back into the win column after losing in his previous contest against Alexander Hernandez when he goes toe-to-toe against Jordan Leavitt, who is also coming off a loss at the hands of Chase Hopper. Hopper forced Leavitt to tap with a rear-naked choke, his second loss in last three fights. Holobaugh is also 1-2 in his last three trips to the cage. Advertisement Allan Nascimento will look to pick up his third straight win when he faces Jafel Filho, who is also eying his third straight win under the UFC banner. Filho tumbled out of the gates in his UFC debut, losing to Muhammad Mokaev. He recovered nicely by winning back-to-back fights against Daniel Barez and Ode Osbourne. As for Nascimento, he did the same after losing his first fight under the UFC banner against Tagir Ulanbekov, defeating Jake Hadley and Carlos Hernandez in consecutive contests. Who Needs A Win Badly: UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In In men's Middleweight action, Dusko Todorovic will face Zachary Reese. Todorovic is currently on a two-fight losing streak and is just 3-5 under the UFC banner. He is definitely on the chopping block with a run like that, and a third straight defeat at the hands of Reese could prove to be the nail in the coffin of his UFC career. As for Reese, he had his two-fight win streak snapped by Azamat Bekoev, who knocked him out in the very first round (see it again here). Interest Level: 5/10 UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In In the co-main event, Mateusz Gamrot will attempt to get back in the win column when he goes up against Ludovít Klein. Gamrot had his three-fight win streak snapped his last time out at the hands of Dan Hooker, who walked away with a close split-decision win at UFC 305. Prior to that defeat, Gamrot was 7-2 inside the Octagon, scoring big wins over Arman Tsarukyan, Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev, just to name a few. He is currently ranked No. 7, but a win over Klein could get him closer to the Top 5. Speaking of Klein, he has quietly been on a hot streak since 2022, going 6-0-1 during that span. That said, it's not good enough to get him a spot in the Top 15, but a victory of Gamrot will be. Advertisement In what proved to be a disastrous weigh-in, Ketlen Vieira had trouble cutting down to the allowed 136 weight limit for her Bantamweight showdown against Macy Chiasson, so the fight was changed to take place at Featherweight. It's not a good look for Vieira, who is coming off a loss to Kayla Harrison at UFC 307. As for Chiasson, she is currently on a two-fight win streak and one more win could move her into the Top 3. UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield v Barber Weigh-In Bruno Lopes got off to a great start to his UFC career by defeating Magomed Gadzhiyasulov in his promotional debut bout. Winner of three in a row, 'Brunao' is out to collect lucky win number four as he goes up against Dustin Jacoby, who snapped his two-fight skid by defeating Vitor Petrino via knockout in Dec. 2024 (highlights). Caleb Plant vs. Armando Resendiz live results, round-by-round updates, ring walks for Jermall Charlo double-header
Caleb Plant vs. Jose Armando Resendiz and Jermall Charlo vs. Thomas LaManna go down Saturday night at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports) Uncrowned has Caleb Plant vs. Armando Resendiz and Jermall Charlo vs. Thomas LaManna live results, round-by-round updates, highlights, ring walks and start time for the Plant vs. Resendiz fight card on Saturday night at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Plant defends his WBA interim super middleweight title against Resendiz in the night's main event, while Charlo returns from a nearly two-year layoff to face LaManna in the co-feature. Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) formerly held the IBF super middleweight title from January 2019 until November 2021, when he lost it in a four-belt unification fight against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Advertisement Plant, 32, bounced back with a brutal knockout of Anthony Dirrell afterward, but then proceeded to fall short to David Benavidez via decision. In his most recent bout, Plant had to rise off the canvas to win the WBA interim belt against Trevor McCumby this past September. Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) is best known for his upset win over the one-time unified super welterweight champion Jarrett Hurd in 2023. The Mexican fighter also carries losses to Elijah Garcia and Marcos Hernandez in all-action bouts. In the night's co-feature, Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs), a former super welterweight and middleweight world champion, ends an 18-month layoff to face Thomas LaManna at super middleweight. Advertisement Charlo has been largely inactive in recent years due to a combination of injuries, well-documented mental health struggles and substance abuse. In his lone bout over the past three years, Charlo won an unimpressive 10-round unanimous decision over Jose Benavidez Jr. in November 2023. LaManna (39-5-1, 18 KOs) was taken out in the opening round of his sole title challenge against WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara in 2021. Since then, the New Jersey native has strung together nine wins on the bounce and now heads into the biggest fight of his career. Should Plant and Charlo emerge victorious, they are expected to face each other later in 2025. The Plant vs. Resendiz main card begins at 8 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video. Main event ring walks are expected around 11 p.m. ET. Advertisement Follow all of the action with Uncrowned's live results, highlights and play-by-play of the main card below.
