
OPAZ engages with the community via ‘Tajawob' platform
Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) engaged with several suggestions, complaints, reports and inquiries submitted via the national platform 'Tajawob' until the end of May.
A total of 44 requests were received, including 12 suggestions, 10 complaints, 20 inquiries and 2 reports, reflecting a growing interaction aimed at enhancing public participation tools.
Dr. Ahmed bin Saif Al Mamari, Acting Director of Customer Services Department at Opaz, confirmed that all requests received via the platform have been given due attention since its launch in late February.
Complaints were handled within record timeframes, with the shortest response time recorded at under 10 minutes and the longest at two days.
Most inquiries focused on investment procedures, company registration and investor visas. Complaints, meanwhile, were referred to the relevant departments for resolution.
He stated that the received suggestions were diverse, including the development of incubators in industrial cities, enhancement of the tourism front in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad), and the renaming of certain industrial cities under the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).
All suggestions have been referred to the relevant departments within the Authority and the zones it supervises for study and evaluation.
Al Mamari also mentioned that some of the submissions received via the platform included innovative proposals, reflecting the level of public engagement with global technological and scientific advancements. One notable suggestion involved utilising the advancements in drone technology for the transport sector, which was referred to a specialised consultancy, while technical experts in the zone provided their input directly to the proposer.
The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones affirmed that the national platform for suggestions, complaints, reports and inquiries, will contribute to strengthening community partnership and effective communication, as well as improving the business environment through continuous engagement, high transparency and prompt responsiveness.

Oman-Russia visa waiver agreement ratified by Royal Decree
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued two Royal decrees reading as follows: Royal decree No. 53/2025 ratifies an agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Russian Federation on mutual waiving of visas, signed in Moscow on 22 April 2025. Article (1) ratifies the aforementioned agreement in accordance with the version attached to this decree. Article (2) says that this Royal decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue. Royal Decree No. 52/2025 cancels "Oman Centre for Governance and Sustainability". Article (1) states that "Oman Centre for Governance and Sustainability" shall be cancelled. Article (2) stipulates that the allocations, origins, rights, obligations and assets of "Oman Centre for Governance and Sustainability" shall be transferred to the Financial Services Authority. Article (3) states that employees of "Oman Centre for Governance and Sustainability" shall be transferred to the Financial Services Authority, along with their respective financial grades. Article (4) cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.

Agreement signed to develop integrated bus public transport hub in Al Buraimi
Muscat - Al Buraimi Governorate and Mwasalat Company today signed a cooperation agreement to develop an integrated bus public transport hub in the Al Uqda Al Shamaliyah area of Al Buraimi Governorate. The project includes the development of a modern, integrated transport station spanning 56,000 square meters. The station will feature an eco-friendly design, offering intercity and intracity passenger transport services, along with advanced facilities such as a smart taxi station, a micro-mobility station, air-conditioned waiting halls, dedicated bus bays, transport operator offices, retail outlets, logistics facilities, and parking spaces for both cars and buses. The agreement was signed under the auspices of Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Transport. Dr. Hamad Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, signed the agreement on behalf of the governorate, while Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, signed on behalf of the company. The agreement aims to enhance public transport infrastructure in the governorate and improve road transport services in line with Oman Vision 2040. It stipulates that Mwasalat will serve as the technical arm of the project, responsible for developing design standards, overseeing implementation, and operating and managing public transport facilities upon completion. Meanwhile, the governorate will allocate the necessary budget for infrastructure and facilitate administrative and regulatory procedures, including land-use adjustments and designating the station as the exclusive hub for mass transit services in the governorate. The Governor of Al Buraimi stated that the establishment of an integrated bus transport hub in the governorate will serve a large segment of public transport users and boost economic indicators. He noted that there are approximately 12 daily bus trips on the Muscat-Al Buraimi route, in addition to the route between Muscat and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, which passes through Al Buraimi Governorate. For his part, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, explained that the agreement includes investment aspects, with a tender to be issued for investment in the station's development. Implementation is expected to begin within the next three months, with completion targeted within three years.

HM the Sultan exchanges greetings with Emir of Qatar, President of Iran
