NHL Makes Change to Jets-Stars Playoff Series
The Winnipeg Jets were able to stave off elimination on Thursday, taking down the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of their second-round postseason series. Now the series will head back to Dallas for Game 6, with the Stars looking to close out the matchup in front of their home fans.
Winnipeg was able to shut out the Stars in the game, showing why they were the best team in the NHL all year. The Jets started the scoring in the second period and never let up to grab the win.

The league has announced the start time for Game 6 between the two teams. Game 6 will now take place on Saturday, May 17, at 8 p.m. ET.
Entering Game 6, the Stars have to be feeling confident, even with the Game 5 loss. Winnipeg has struggled heavily on the road in the playoffs, going 0-5 to start this year.
The Jets have looked like a completely different team away from home, and the Stars will be looking to take advantage of that fact. If Dallas can get an early lead, it may be able to use it to advance to the next round.

But the Jets also seemed to find something that worked in Game 5, limiting the Stars' scoring chances throughout the game. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck was electric for the Jets, and he will look to keep things going in Game 6.

If Hellebuyck can show up, the Jets will have a solid chance to extend this series again. But if he falters, a special season will likely all be for nothing.

Jets Prospect Reportedly Signs Three-Year Extension With KHL Club
View of a Winnipeg Jets logo on a jersey worn by a member of the team during the second period at Bell Centre. Mandatory Credit: David Kirouac-Imagn Images Winnipeg Jets prospect Dmitri Rashevsky has reportedly signed a three-year offer sheet with Avangard Omsk and are awaiting Dynamo Moskva's response, according to Dylan Griffing. The Jets selected Rashevsky in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, and he has spent each season since the selection in the KHL. Rashevsky will be 25 years old by the start of the season, making his chances of joining the Jets organization bleak. Advertisement "I like everything in Dynamo, that's why I signed a new contract," Rashevsky said through Google Translate in the article back in 2023. "I was in touch (with Winnipeg), but at the moment I consulted with my family, agent and coaching staff; everyone was of the same opinion that it was better to stay." If Rashevsky does plan to play in the NHL with the Jets, he won't do so until he is 28 years old. Filled with talent, the 6'1, 183 lbs left-handed right winger has scored 35 or more points in four consecutive KHL seasons, including a 19-goal and 40-point campaign in the 65 games this past season. "Rashevsky's motor never stops. Be it on the forecheck and on the backcheck, at the start of his shift or at the end of his shift, in the MHL, the VHL, or the KHL, the forward is single-minded; he wants the puck on his stick and in the back of the opposing net. He rarely over-dangles, preferring to use teammates and make give-and-goes to get out of tight situations." -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide. For the Jets organization, the news is unfortunate. There would be several opportunities for Rashevsky to fight for a roster spot and possibly lock one down, whether Nikolaj Ehlers re-signs or signs elsewhere. Although it doesn't completely nullify the St. Petersburg, RUS native's chances of playing for the Jets, his ability to transition to the North American surface and the style of play at a much older age becomes increasingly challenging. What Are the Steelers' Super Bowl Odds After Signing Aaron Rodgers?
There's reason to celebrate in Pittsburgh after the Steelers are set to reportedly sign Aaron Rodgers to a 1-year deal. But who, exactly, is celebrating is a hotly contested debate. For Rodgers, it's a chance at redemption and a chance to solidify his legacy, after a mostly unimpressive stint with the New York Jets the last two seasons. Rodgers had initially joined a Jets team loaded with weapons and one quarterback away from making a deep playoff run. Rodgers was supposed to be the final missing piece, that is until he ruptured his Achilles four snaps into the 2023 season. Advertisement The following year, the Jets fired their coach, Robert Saleh, midway into the season and the hapless Jets finished with a 5-12 stinker. After much speculation, the Jets ultimately parted ways with Rodgers, 41, who then contemplated retirement or sign elsewhere. Related: Aaron Rodgers Officially Announces Decision on 2025 Season That other team is turning out to be the Steelers. But while Rodgers may be celebrating another year of employment, are fans celebrating the signing? Pittsburgh went 10-7 with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Wilson left this offseason and signed with the New York Giants, while Fields ended up in Rodgers' old stomping grounds with the Jets, leaving the Steelers reeling in the quarterback depth chart. While Rodgers may be an upgrade over Mason Rudolph, that's not saying all that much. Advertisement There was a time when Rodgers signing with a new team -- like when he joined the Jets -- would bolster said team's Super Bowl odds. But Rodgers reportedly signing with the Steelers didn't move the needle in Vegas, and there's actually a reasonable explanation. According to DraftKings Sports, the Steelers' chances before Rodgers signed with Pittsburgh were +4000. And after he signed? Still +4000. By comparison, the Steelers' odds at BetMGM is still at +4500 to win the Super Bowl, putting them at 17 among the 32 teams. The Steelers also have a win total of 8.5, and they remain an underdog to make the postseason at +150. Advertisement So, why didn't Rodgers' signing move the needle? "They would have been rated towards the bottom without this signing," BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini told Yahoo Sports. "Obviously a massive upgrade over other QBs in the room, but it was assumed he was going to sign [with Pittsburgh] so it was baked in." So, Vegas had a hunch he'd sign with the Steelers and factored that into the 2025 Super Bowl odds and still didn't give Pittsburgh a real chance at winning the Lombardi Trophy.
