
5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes China's Tibet
BEIJING: An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Tibet early on Monday (May 12), the China Earthquake Administration (CEA) said.
The quake hit the city of Shigatse at 5.11am local time, at a depth of 10km.
Authorities have dispatched emergency response services and no casualties have been reported so far, CEA said.
In January, more than 120 people died in a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Tibet's Tingri county, around 240km away from Shigatse.

The quake struck at 2.17am (7.17am, Singapore time) about 10km off the coast of Marmaris, the AFAD disaster agency said. "In Fethiye, a 14-year-old girl named Afranur Gunlu was taken to the hospital due to a panic attack but, unfortunately, despite all interventions, she passed away," Yerlikaya said. Fethiyeh lies around 100km to the east of Marmaris. Of those injured, 14 were treated at the scene, eight were briefly treated then discharged and another 46 were being treated in hospital, he said.
