UMNO Youth boss told not to defend PMX in Sabah's caricature torching incident as 'what goes around, comes around'
IT is worrisome that both courtesy and respect accorded to Prime Minister Datuk Sei Anwar are thinning by the day in tandem with the widening trust deficit gap in his Madani administration.
After having poured their heart out on the Facebook page of Your Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia over the weekend with an appeal 'to save Malaysia', a similar trend is detected on the Facebook page of UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
In unison, the fanbase of the firebrand Merlimau state assemblyman swamped his post to counter him after he defended PMX by ticking off the Gempur Rasuah Sabah 2.0 rally protestors who torched the latter's caricature bearing the slogan 'Madani: Protector of Sabah's Corrupt'.
'You should be brave in your struggle but not stupid and rude!! (referring to the torching of PMX's caricature),' the Russia-trained medical doctor had penned on his Facebook page which has garnered 5.8K likes, 1.8K comments and 251 shares at the time of writing.
'Being brave doesn't mean we have to lose our manners as humans. To my brother undergraduate who feels brave because he managed to burn PMX's caricature, you are actually a coward and stupid person.'
This is when a commenter advised the Melaka Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security EXCO not to waste his time arranging to meet up with the young minds who have yet to be tested with positions and power.
'Instead, you should confront PMX who're always lying to the rakyat. Numerous promises have been made but the fact is not a single proof that PMX has fulfilled any of the promises made before. ZERO!'
Another commenter said he was not surprised as 'what's happening these days is passed down from the time when PH (Pakatan Harapan) was in the opposition'.
'Just face it for you did likewise to BN (Barisan Nasional), right? 😅😆' he teased while a fellow commenter displayed an old image purportedly of BERSIH 4 protestors in 2015 sleeping on the streets of Kuala Lumpur with a question 'Is this civilised?'
Pointing to the English idiom 'you reap what you sow', one commenter stated that 'this is the price that must be paid when you helm of the government yet unable to implement what you've promised when you're outside the government'.
Another contended that the notion of kepimpinan melalui teladan (leadership by example) is true simply because 'what u give u get back 🤣 [sic]'.
One presumably UMNO loyalist attested that this was why incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his team 'had never issued any statement when they're provoked by the opposition even with actions that were so despicable and rude, including destroying of public property'.
Suffice to conclude that this could be the first time or a rarity that the nationalistic/rightist UMNO Youth leader is besieged with comments that not only went against his statement or proposal but instead supported/defended his alleged perpetrators (the undergraduate protestors). – June 25, 2025

Batu Kawan land deal issue: Chow-Ramasamy mediation set for July 2
GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Court Mediation Centre has fixed July 2 for a third round of mediation between Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and former deputy chief minister II Dr P. Ramasamy over the controversial Batu Kawan land deal issue. Today's proceeding was presided over by Selvaranjini Selvaraja. The matter will be heard before Sessions Court judge Helmi Ghani. The e-review to update the mediation status is set for tomorrow. Ramasamy filed a defamation suit against Chow on July 18 last year. Ramasamy's lawyer, Dr Shamsher Thind Singh, said a new mediation date was fixed as both parties needed to confirm something. Today is the second round of mediation. The first was on April 14. After the mediation session, Chow confirmed that the mediation process was ongoing, with the next session scheduled for July 2. "Today's mediation involved defamation suits stemming from the cancelled land deal between Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and Umech Land Sdn Bhd. "The first defamation suit was filed by Ramasamy against me, while the second suit was filed by PDC against Ramasamy." Datuk V. Sithambaram is representing Chow and PDC. Met later, Ramasamy said: "The mediation process is ongoing. We will await the decision." Ramasamy filed the defamation suit over a statement on Chow's Facebook page on Oct 3, 2023, which Ramasamy claimed had severely tarnished his reputation. The post was reproduced by the media and social media users. Ramasamy, who was deputy chief minister II from 2008 to 2023, claimed Chow's post contained false accusations regarding his involvement in the approval of a deal between PDC and Umech Land. According to his statement of claims, Ramasamy is seeking damages from Chow to be determined by the court. He is also seeking a mandatory injunction to force Chow to retract his statements and to issue a public apology. He is also asking a prohibitory injunction preventing Chow from repeating the alleged defamatory statements, as well as costs. At the height of the issue, Chow was under fire for the sale of the land after the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce raised questions on the awarding of the project through direct negotiations and why local companies were not given an opportunity in the project.

Russian missile attack kills 11 as Zelensky presses Nato allies for support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Nato member states to boost their investment in Ukraine's growing defence sector. (AP pic) DNIPRO : A Russian missile attack in southeastern Ukraine today killed at least 11 people, local officials said, as president Volodymyr Zelensky urged Kyiv's allies at a Nato summit to bolster Ukraine's defence industry. The two-wave strike killed nine in the regional capital Dnipro, said governor Serhiy Lysak, where the blast wave also showered scores of train passengers with broken glass and damaged schools and a hospital. Lysak said 18 children were among the 153 injured. Two people were also killed in the town of Samar, around 10km from Dnipro, the state emergencies service said. Officials did not provide details of damage there. The rare daytime attack came as Zelensky pressed Nato member states in the Netherlands to boost their investment in Ukraine's growing defence sector and crack down on the supply of the foreign components that he said Russia uses to build its weapons. 'This is not a fight where it's hard to choose a side,' he wrote on X in response to the strike. 'Standing with Ukraine means defending life.' Zelensky was also expected to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit. Russia has stepped up air strikes on Ukraine in recent weeks, particularly its capital Kyiv, where 28 people were killed on June 17 in the deadliest such attack this year. Another 10 people were killed in air attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region on Monday. After today's attack on Dnipro, stunned residents surveyed a badly damaged apartment building and battered cars. At a nearby church, windows were blown out and scattered across the altar. Priest Serhii Narolsky said he had been holding a service at the time of the attack, which was preceded by an air raid alert. 'It happened in a split second. You opened your eyes, and there were no windows or doors anywhere,' he said. 'Everything was in a half-destroyed state.'

Indonesia to build first nuclear power plant by 2034, eyes Russia and Canada as partners
JAKARTA, June 25 — Indonesia plans to build its first nuclear power plant by 2034 as part of efforts to secure its energy future and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said on Tuesday. The project is part of the country's long-term energy strategy and will be overseen by the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy under the ministry, according to a report published in the Jakarta Globe. 'Several countries have expressed interest in partnering with Indonesia to develop nuclear energy,' Bahlil said during the 2025 Jakarta Geopolitical Forum. 'We've prepared the roadmap, and by 2034 at the latest, Indonesia must have its first nuclear power plant.' The plant, expected to generate up to 500 megawatts, will be split between two locations in Sumatra and Kalimantan, with each region receiving 250MW of capacity. Russia and Canada have formally indicated interest in joining the project, Bahlil added. 'As long as there is a cooperative relationship with Indonesia and the partnership is mutually beneficial, we are open to collaboration with any country,' he said. The initiative forms part of Indonesia's Electricity Supply Work Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2034, which aims to add 69.5 gigawatts of new power generation capacity over the next decade, primarily from renewable and low-emission sources. Nuclear power is expected to support Indonesia's shift away from fossil fuels and help meet growing energy demands driven by rapid industrialisation. The government sees nuclear energy as a crucial component in achieving its net-zero emissions target by 2060. The move also aligns with broader goals to ensure energy independence and reduce greenhouse gas emissions amid global climate commitments.
