East Kilbride win soured by alleged racist abuse, says Mick Kennedy as Stranraer fan ejected

Kilby star Joao Balde was the victim of alleged racist abuse after scoring against the Blues in the League Two clash
Mick Kennedy admits Portuguese midfielder Joao Balde being subjected to alleged racist abuse soured their win over Stranraer.

A visiting Blues supporter was ejected from K-Park moments after Balde scored a spectacular overhead kick to seal a 3-1 win for Kilby in a dramatic finish to the League Two clash.

The Kilby ace celebrated in front of the visiting support, which earned him a booking from referee Cameron Stirling, but he was then allegedly the victim of racist insults from one individual in the stands, causing a short delay to the match as Kilby players surrounded the away section.

Furious Kilby boss Kennedy then marched across the pitch to alert club officials and have the supporter kicked out.
Moments later, Balde's day got even worse when he was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time for a late challenge on Lewis Reid.
EK held out for the 3-1 win, which came courtesy of a John Robertson penalty and a Rhys Breen strike before Balde's clincher.
But angry Kennedy told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "One of the Stranraer fans made a racist statement to Joao after he scored, unfortunately.
"I think that is twice that's happened to Joao - it happened with an Airdrie fan last season and now today.
"It is so unfortunate but that's where we are in society and football sometimes in this country.

"It just puts a bit of a downer on today, the fact he has to go through that. Some people are just very stupid.
"It is a strange thing to say, but unfortunately Joao just gets used to it. It is miles from acceptable, but he is okay after it.

"He was booked for celebrating in front of their fans, which is fair enough. I can understand it has antagonised the Stranraer fans a bit, but he doesn't deserve that.
"I don't think it was a second booking for him. He was probably a bit emotional after everything that has happened, as you would expect because it is not nice.
"Maybe the referee could have used a bit of common sense in the situation that's happened, but it is what it is.

"The referee asked me to go and inform the match secretary so we could get the person removed, so that's why I was going across the pitch in the middle of the game."
Kilby skipper Jack Leitch says he confronted the man in question and said it was "disgusting" and crazy to see, following a man being arrested on Friday night after Bournemouth palyer Antoine Semenyo was subjected to racist abuse in a Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Leitch said: "It is honestly crazy because you see it in that game last night and you think it's just so surreal, top players in the Premier League in England talking about it and then it happens here a day later. It is ridiculous.
"It happened to Joao last season and it is honestly just disgusting. It should just not be taking place, especially after scoring such an incredible goal and how well he played.

"He was probably our best player today and for him to stay that strong shows the character of him.
"Joao repeated what was said to me and then I called the guy out on it.
"The fan was denying it to me and I just stayed with Joao after it. It's just ridiculous and disgusting."

East Kilbride FC officials confirmed a supporter was ejected from the ground and they will review CCTV footage/match cameras before reporting the incident to the police.
Stranraer boss Chris Aitken, a former EK manager, said: "If that [racist abuse] is the case, we don't need that in the game and we don't need that associated with our club.

Yoane Wissa's future needs to be resolved soon – Brentford boss Keith Andrews

Brentford boss Keith Andrews does not know how Yoane Wissa's transfer situation will play out. Wissa was not involved in Sunday's Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest, where the Bees went down to a 3-1 defeat. The 28-year-old wants to follow Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard out of the club during the summer transfer window, with Newcastle strongly linked with a bid, and Andrews said before the match he was not in the right head space to play. 'It's a day-by-day one in terms of Wiss,' the Irishman said. 'As far as I know nothing else has happened today, definitely didn't yesterday, so as it was really. 'I have no idea what the situation will be, I have been up here since yesterday so we will deal with that during the week. 'Hopefully it can resolve itself sooner rather than later.' Andrews, whose first game in management could not have gone much worse as Forest rampaged to a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to Chris Wood's double and Dan Ndoye's header, insists the club-record signing of Dango Ouattara will not start a domino effect of movement. 'I don't see it, I see Dango as Bryan's replacement in terms of that area of the pitch, I see him as a versatile forward that I am really happy we have managed to get on board,' Andrews added, after seeing Igor Thiago score a second-half penalty. 'We weren't really aware he would be available, as soon as we knew it was a pretty easy decision to get him on board. 'Thankfully the club have been able to do that and it is a really significant investment for us. It will be a brilliant investment.' Forest made a mockery of Nuno Espirito Santo's pre-match worries. Nuno expressed his 'concern' for the campaign ahead of the match, citing a lack of options in his squad. After new signings Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee were unveiled before kick-off, their new team-mates put on a show. But Nuno says the display does not change Forest's situation, with Arnaud Kalimuendo having a medical ahead of a move from Rennes and links to Juventus' Douglas Luiz and Manchester City's Rico Lewis. 'The needs of the squad are still there, it doesn't change anything,' he said. 'We are going to go day-by-day. 'We still need. Hopefully this work continues. The sooner we settle down the squad the better. 'The club knows the needs of the squad so we have to be patient and see. The faster they come, the better. 'This week a lot of things are going to happen, not only Forest, I think a lot of teams are still operating in the market. We have to wait and be patient. 'Of course (I feel better). It doesn't change, the needs are clear, the club knows. Now I am delighted, I just want to go home and celebrate because it is a beautiful start to the season. I couldn't have expected better than this.'

Rangers want £25m for star with four clubs interested

The Belgian midfielder's start to the season hasn't been plain sailing with manager Russell Martin dropping him for games against Viktoria Plzen and Dundee. But he worked his way back into the XI after impressing off the bench, and still has a run of form from last season as credit in the bank. That led to transfer speculation and the player has previously admitted to an ambition of playing in the English Premier League. And a list of clubs are said to still be interested. Voetbal Primeur reports Wolves are among the frontrunners for the 24-year-old after closely tracking him over the summer. Aston Villa, Brighton and Fiorentina are also named. "I worked with him for three months. He has all the attributes and is still at a brilliant age. "He still has some things he needs to tidy up on, but he understands that. He's got an opinion which I liked. "He's really interested and keen to learn. All day long he can play in the Premier League. Now, Rangers have got to be looking for big money for Nico. I am looking at £15million at least for Nico - and the rest!"

Newcastle complete £43m transfer after taking advantage of Aston Villa issues

Jacob Ramsey has swapped Aston Villa for Newcastle United and will wear the No.41 shirt on Tyneside after the Magpies took advantage of the Villans PSR issues to land the former England Under-21 star Newcastle United have sealed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey in a £43million deal. Murphy, 24, leaves Villa Park to join the Magpies in a big-money deal that helps Villa meet Profit and Sustainability Rules. ‌ The current campaign is Villa's third successive in European competition, and UEFA rules mean they can only record losses of £60million - far less than the Premier League's guidelines of £105million. They have sold Ramsey to meet that figure, while also bringing down the percentage of revenue they spend on player wages; that number was 91 percent at the start of summer, and needs to get down to below 70 percent. ‌ When the two clubs met in their Premier League opener on Saturday, fans of both united in chanting against the Premier League and football's financial regulations, Newcastle having been forced to sell young stars Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh 12 months ago. ‌ But now Eddie Howe's men have more leeway and have taken full advantage of Villa's situation, paying Villa a guaranteed £39million for Ramsey - who made 167 appearances in all competitions for the Villans, scoring 17 times - with a further £4m in potential add-ons. 'I'm delighted to be here,' said Ramsey. 'It's been a mad two or three days, but I'm really happy to be here and I can 't wait to get started. 'This is a big move for me, but as soon as I knew the gaffer was interested and really Iiked me, it didn't take much time to decide. His track record of developing players, especially those who have gone on to become internationals here, speaks for itself. 'It was always a tough game playing for Villa against Newcastle - the team is full of energy, so athletic and the fans are so passionate. I feel my game will suit that and I'm excited to be on the other end of it now.' Toon boss Eddie Howe declared: 'Jacob is another fantastic addition to our squad. His qualities will bring us something different on the pitch and he fits the profile of being young and hungry to develop, but also with a wealth of Premier League football under his belt. ‌ 'Jacob offers versatility and his directness in attack has proven to be a real threat at this level in recent seasons. "He performed very well in the Champions League last season too and we believe he'll be a major asset for us.' Ramsey's departure is not a move that Villa boss Unai Emery wanted to happen, but with club chiefs having let it be known that PSR measures had to be adhered to, it was decided cashing in on Ramsey was one of their best options, particularly as they continue looking to bring in more players before the close of the summer window.
