FC Barcelona Star Gavi Says ‘Of Course Real Madrid Is Worried'
Gavi was given the captain's armband during Thursday's 7-3 win over Seoul in South Korea, and even got on the scoresheet.
For the Andalusian, being the team's leader was a dream come true and a source of great pride.
'I've always dreamed of being able to wear the Barcelona armband. It is a [source of] pride for me and I feel very motivated every time I wear it. It inspires me more. If at the end of this season I'm not one of the captains, it's normal. Even though I've been in the first team for many years, I'm young and I still have to learn from the veterans. It will come when it is time,' he explained, about being named one of permanent skippers.
With Barca bested by Inter Milan in the semifinals of the competition last term, Gavi agreed that winning the Champions League this season is one of the main goals.
'In the end, everyone remembers the Champions League. It's the most important trophy and hopefully we can be in the final. I am sure and I trust that my team will give everything possible to be there and give us that Champions League that the Culers crave so much,' he confidently stated.
While the Champions League is the most coveted team trophy, Lamine Yamal could be awarded the highest individual honor in the sport which is the Ballon d'Or.
'I hope he wins it. If he doesn't do it this year, he's 18 years old and still very young. Being there among the favorites is already something unique. I'm happy for what he's doing with us," Gavi said.
'He's an incredible player. Every day is better. In training it is amazing. He has to continue like this, with that mentality and I'm sure that if he doesn't win the Ballon d'Or this year, he will win many in the future.'
Real Madrid will be Barca's main rival domestically. And with Madrid spending heavily to avoid the Catalans lifting all three main trophies in Spain again, Gavi said that 'of course' Los Blancos are worried about the Blaugrana.
'Of course they are worried. It was four out of four [Clasicos we won] and that had never happened in history. And it is logical that they are worried. In the end, we were spectacular last season and they didn't win anything. This year they have reinforced themselves with very good players, to be honest, but we will see what they will do this season. They have a great team but we have to be us and that's it,' Gavi concluded.
Gavi will once again have a difficult fight for minutes at FC Barcelona
With the likes of Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez his competition for the CAM spot, while Pedri and Frenkie de Jong are locked down in the more retreated spots, Gavi once again faces a tough battle for minutes in FC Barcelona's midfield this season.

WATCH: All the goals as Barcelona cruise to win over Daegu to close out Asia preseason tour
Daegu FC 0-5 Barcelona Barcelona cruised to a third preseason win over Daegu FC in South Korea before heading back to the Catalan capital, with Hansi Flick's side once again looking well-tuned. First half: the Lamine Yamal show Barcelona showed little mercy for their opposition in the first half in Daegu, with a more or less starting team taking to the pitch. Gerard Martin got a second run out at centre-back, while 17-year-old midfielder Dro Fernandez has rewarded with a start too. He showed a number of nice touches, in the opening period, and provided the pass for Gavi's opener, a fine finish from the edge of the box for the Spain international. It was Martin who was involved in the second, as he popped up at his more familiar left-back spot for an excellent ball across the box to set up Robert Lewandowski to finish with ease in the box. Dro could have had a second preseason goal too, but couldn't keep the ball down from close in as he attacked Alejandro Balde's own lovely ball in. Others impressed, but it was the Lamine Yamal show in South Korea. Unlucky that Raphinha did not convert a brilliant cross in, the 18-year-old weaved between defenders and accelerated away from them with ease, only lacking the final touch on two or three occasions. Raphinha would redeem himself just before the half by seeing a pass for Gavi, setting him free in the box. He again finished beautifully, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper into the net. The only sticky moment for Barcelona saw Daegu escape down the left, and Joan Garcia did not make it out in time to cut the ball across out. With the goal gaping, Geovani lofted it wide and high. Second half: The second half kciked off with Barcelona attacking well down the left through Jofre Torrents and Toni Fernandez, with Marcus Rashford playing a little more inside. The latter was the end of a brilliant move slicing through for the fourth, and finished smoothly, one of several sequences showing his talent. Between Fernandez, Dani Olmo, Marc Casado and Pedri, Daegu were constantly on the back foot. Roony Bardghji and Torrents got into some good positions too, but between saves, deflections and blocks couldn't quite find the finishing touch. Barcelona were made to wait until the 65th minute for their final goal, with Eric Garcia pulling the ball back for Marcus Rashford to fizz into the bottom corner from the penalty spot. The one concern for Barcelona was the exit of Pau Cubarsi, who appeared to pick up a knock. Going down with three minutes to go, Barcelona will hope it is nothing serious. Inigo Martinez and Fermin Lopez did not feature through fitness issues, while Ferran Torres also didn't play, although it is not yet clear whether this was also fitness-related. It brings to an end a successful tour for Hansi Flick and Barcelona, in which they showed one or two dodgy moments at the back, but mostly impressed with their movement of the ball, the quality of their moves on the whole, and the ease with which they created chances. Youngsters Dro, Toni Fernandez and Bardghji looked like cogs in the machine, and Rashford showed glimpses of what he can add.

Video: Lamine Yamal's complete 10/10 performance vs Daegu
Lamine Yamal once again left fans in awe during Barcelona's final match of their pre-season tour in South Korea. In a rain-soaked evening in Daegu, the 18-year-old prodigy did not need a goal to make headlines, as his 45-minute first-half display was more than enough to light up the stadium and prove why he is considered one of the most exciting young talents in world football. Donning the iconic number 10 shirt, Yamal was at the heart of everything Barcelona created in the opening half. His dribbles, flair, and confidence on the ball constantly had the Korean fans on their feet. Although he didn't score, nearly all of Barça's attacking danger flowed through his boots. A performance worthy of applause Yamal's standout moment came in the 19th minute when he beat multiple defenders before laying the ball off for Gavi. The midfielder struck from the edge of the box to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead, but it was his creativity and awareness that made it happen. His dribbling in tight spaces, followed by a composed cut-back, perfectly showcased his ability to control the tempo in the final third. Minutes later, in the 37th minute, he performed two croquetas, a dribbling move popularised by Andres Iniesta, to get past his marker and fire a shot on goal. Though the Daegu goalkeeper managed to keep it out, the move drew one of the loudest cheers of the night. Every time he touched the ball, the Korean crowd erupted with excitement, braving the pouring rain just to witness the magic of Barça's teenage sensation. Yamal leaves Korea with two goals in pre-season and just one behind Gavi, who finished as Barcelona's top scorer on the tour with three goals. Even without scoring in this final game, Yamal's influence was undeniable. From Messi-like feints to Neymar-esque flair, the young winger played with joy and freedom, thrilling fans and reminding everyone of Barcelona's bright future.
