No. 1-ranked amateur Lottie Woad joins LPGA Tour
She earned her tour card over the weekend when she shot a final round 64 on Sunday to tie for third at the Evian Championship, a major.
Woad, a 21-year-old from England, will forego her senior season at Florida State. She holds the Seminoles' record for career stroke average at 70.42.
It didn't take her long to decide to accept pro status. After Sunday's round at the Evian Championship in France, she said she planned to ponder her future.
"Just going to use next week at home with family and coaches to kind of discuss the options and then I'll decide after that," she said.
"I've always wanted to play on the LPGA," she continued. "Whenever that is, it's going to be really fun and I just look forward to playing all the events."
She now has LPGA Tour status for the rest of the 2025 season and the entire 2026 campaign. Her professional debut will come next week at the Women's Scottish Open. Then, she will take part in the season's final major, the Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Wales from July 31-Aug. 3.
Woad won the Women's Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour two weeks ago.
Her schedule has not been confirmed for the rest of the season.
Woad is the first amateur to earn her tour card through the LPGA's LEAP program, which counts amateur achievements toward the card.
Among those accomplishments was her victory at the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship.

Could Alabama football's Florida State opener define 2025 season trajectory?
ATLANTA — Kadyn Proctor knows what Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos said. And he's not giving in. It's outside of Alabama football's overall focus, he said, one that is set on the day-to-day, the current moment. The Crimson Tide hasn't made it to fall camp yet, Proctor said. 'We're not really giving into whatever anybody else is saying,' Proctor said at SEC media days. 'It's all internal. Keeping it in house.' Kalen DeBoer knows how big Alabama's opener against Florida State is. It's the only game the Crimson Tide coach brought up unprompted. It's a test against a team that has 'something to prove, as well.' It's a true road game, a setting Alabama struggled with in its first year of the DeBoer era with losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma away from Tuscaloosa. But to DeBoer, it all boils down to one simple reality: Florida State is first up for Alabama. It's the opponent currently in the way of each of the Crimson Tides 2025 hopes. 'We don't need to look anything beyond that as far as our preparation or what might lie because none of it matters unless we take care of business and do what we're doing, being our best in that week one game against Florida State,' DeBoer said. For fifth-year defensive lineman Tim Keenan III, Florida State is Alabama's first chance to debut the new-and-improved Crimson Tide: one that is dominant, that plays to the whistle, that gives opponents a beating. 'Just taking it to the next man the best we can, as hard as we can,' Keenan said. It's what Alabama did not do in 2024, falling to both the Volunteers and Commodores by one score before a 21-point drubbing against the Sooners in Norman. 'A lot of it comes down to those big moments, building a culture where you keep fighting till the very end,' DeBoer said. 'There's going to be a lot of close games. A lot of those wins you're talking about came down to the very end, moments where it looked bleak at times. You fight, execute, find a way to win. That's what we've got to do here going into year two at Alabama, as well.' Expectations are high for Alabama. And they are self-imposed. Proctor said the whole roster realizes how long it's been since the Crimson Tide won a championship. And the junior offensive lineman is not afraid to say that's the team's overall goal. 'It's all through preparation,' Proctor said. 'We're trying to do our best 1-0 day in and day out, honestly. But there's always that hunger, that yearn and burn and desire to win every game. You have to have that focus and that level of intent to do so.' Florida State is just the first team in Alabama's way. Kalen DeBoer reveals Alabama football fall camp start date. What to know
ATLANTA — For Kalen DeBoer, SEC media days is the kickoff for Alabama football's hopes and dreams in 2025. And while he addressed the Crimson Tide's aspirations in his second season with the program, DeBoer looked ahead. Not to any game, but to what he and his team would be doing two weeks from July 16. "Excited about two weeks from today," DeBoer said. "At this very moment, they will be on the football field practicing, practice 1. It's come on fast." According to DeBoer, Alabama football will start fall camp July 30 ahead of its Aug. 30 season opener at Florida State. The Crimson Tide's opener is the program's first on the road since the 2020 season against Missouri. "The work is what we're focused on right now," DeBoer said. "The main thing, keeping it that. I love the mindset. Doesn't guarantee you anything, but it gives you a great chance." DeBoer is not one to get too far ahead of himself. Nor is Alabama as a whole. The Crimson Tide is still in the midst of summer workouts, each of which, DeBoer said, his players are taking advantage of. "Continuity is a huge piece of kind of what Year 2 is all about right now. That trickles down to your players. The leadership from the staff is there, but really the culture that we want to try and exude, try and have, it comes to life through our players. And they are making it happen. And as we speak right now, they are on the field on a nice, warm morning in Tuscaloosa getting after it."
