Royal Mint releases new 50p coin to celebrate kids character
The design features Zog flying, complete with tiny wings and a determination to earn a golden star at Dragon School.
This coin joins the Royal Mint's childhood characters collection, which also includes The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child.

Royal Mint 'thrilled' by new collectable 50p coin of children's character Zog
Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at the Royal Mint, said: 'We're thrilled to welcome Zog onto an official UK 50p and as part of our childhood characters coin series.
'As the dragon who tries his very best – despite his mishaps – Zog represents determination and perseverance, qualities we can all admire.
'This coin celebrates a character who has become a firm favourite in households across the UK and continues our tradition of honouring beloved children's literature on our nation's coinage.'

Zog author Ms Donaldson said: 'I'm delighted that Zog is being celebrated on a UK coin. When I wrote his story 15 years ago, I never imagined he would fly so far into people's imaginations. Seeing our determined dragon on a 50p piece would definitely earn him a golden star from Madam Dragon.'
Illustrator Mr Scheffler said: 'Drawing Zog with his big friendly face and clumsiness has always been such a joy. To see my illustrations transformed onto a coin is an incredible honour.'
Previous children's characters represented include the Snowman, Paddington Bear, and Wallace and Gromit.
The Zog 50p coin was created in partnership with Magic Light Pictures, the company behind the animated adaptation of the story.
Those wanting the coin for themselves can expect to pay anywhere upwards of £15.

How do you feel about that term?" Addressing the allegations, the star hit back saying the people making the claims are "losers that comment rubbish." She then said: "No, they don't know, otherwise they wouldn't be saying that. I think it is just the most stupid term. "I think there are cases of industry plants but so what? It doesn't mean they're not talented and it doesn't take away from anything." She added: "People are saying I'm a nepo baby because my great Aunt wrote The Gruffalo. I mean what kind of rubbish is that? I have so much to say on that which I can't even talk about. But I'm not a nepo baby, I'm not an industry plant, there we go I said it." Lola continued: "I've cleared that up for all those losers that want to comment rubbish on the internet. Just find something better to do, you're sad, you're lonely. The thing is industry plant is just a term for other artists and other people to use who just don't know what they're doing in life and feel upset that someone else is having their moment." She concluded her rant saying: "And if you are an industry plant, you're not going to have your moment for that long, unfortunately. And maybe sometimes you will, it just doesn't matter, none of these things matter. If someone's got talent, then they've got talent. Yeah, and I'm also not an industry plant at all by the way."
