BOOM! Ohio State football lands 4-star linebacker for 2026 recruiting class
As things were trending, the Ohio State football team got positive recruiting news on Thursday when 4-star 2026 linebacker Cincere Johnson announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.
Out of Cleveland Glenville High School, Cincere seemed to be an OSU lean all the way, but in today's day and age of NIL money and all, you just never know. In the end, the pull to play for the Buckeyes and James Laurinaitis proved to be enough to land the priority target.
Ranked as the No. 8 edge defender and 71st overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Johnson is being recruited as a linebacker and should fit the room nicely. Ohio State won over Johnson over the likes of Alabama and Penn State to stay at home and continue the Glenville pipeline from Cleveland to Columbus.
Johnson brings versatility and size to the program at 6-foot, 3-inches, and 240-pounds. He can run and tackle, but can also come off the edge on a pass rush when asked to do so. His commitment brings the 2026 class up to 16 members as the No. 3-ranked class currently in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
Ohio State is still putting the final touches on its 2026 class, and you can bet that there will still be some more news in the near future on players that commit to this year's cycle. As things happen, we'll bring the news to you.

Historic College Football Program Now Trailing in Latest Rankings

Historic College Football Program Now Trailing in Latest Rankings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There has been some movement in the latest college football recruiting rankings for the 2026 class. Advertisement The Ohio State Buckeyes sit in third place on the On3 2026 rankings. That's where the Buckeyes have been for most of this offseason, but the gap to the No. 1 spot widened a little this week. Ohio State trails the USC Trojans and LSU Tigers in the 2026 rankings. On Thursday, the Trojans landed four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle instead of the Buckeyes. The addition of Wafle gives USC 30 commits in the 2026 class. Ohio State has 16 while LSU has landed just 10. Texas A&M and Georgia are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, on On3's 2026 recruiting class rankings. Advertisement The Aggies' class was rated sixth just two days ago. In the past 48 hours, Texas A&M jumped Georgia and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Georgia also passed Notre Dame this week. The Buckeyes possess the No. 3 recruiting class for 2026 according to the 247Sports rankings as well. But USC and Texas A&M are the two teams ahead of the Buckeyes on that list. Georgia and Notre Dame round out the top five classes at No. 4 and 5, respectively. On the 247Sports rankings, LSU sits at No. 11. Of Ohio State's 16 commits, 12 of them are four-star prospects. Two of the others are five-star players while the other two are three-star prospects. Aggie fans and media react to commitment from Top 30 player Brandon Arrington The month of June has been extremely generous to the Texas A&M football program. It's the time of year when college football programs ramp up recruiting efforts to lock in top prospects before the 2025 season. Just a day after landing a commitment from a Top 50 player and the nation's No. 2 running back, the Aggies added another standout—this time from California. On Thursday afternoon, Brandon Arrington announced his commitment to Texas A&M over Oregon. Arrington, the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 2 athlete in the 2025 class, brings a five-star rating with him to Aggieland. In addition to his on-field talent, he offers elite speed and length to A&M's defense. On the track, he's posted personal bests of 10.24 in the 100m and 20.37 in the 200m, impressive marks for his 6-2, 180-pound frame. Arrington told ESPN that strong relationships with A&M assistants Jordan Peterson and Bryant Gross-Armiento played a key role in his decision: "The relationship goes back to day one, for real. They've been locked in with me, recruiting me hard from the very start. The environment feels like home. The people care about football there." Lions legend Calvin Johnson listed in ESPN's All Quarter Century Team

Lions legend Calvin Johnson listed in ESPN's All Quarter Century Team ESPN released its All Quarter Century Team for 2000-2025 on Wednesday, including just one name from Detroit Lions history. Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson is the second receiver listed in ESPN's 53-man roster for the 21st century, behind Randy Moss and ahead of Julio Jones, Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison, and Justin Jefferson. ESPN analysts Andrew Schatz and Seth Walder put the list together, acknowledging Johnson's short but dominant run in the NFL. "Johnson leaped over defenders en route to two 1,600-plus-yard seasons and the all-time single-season receiving yards record (1,964) in 2012," Walder said. "He ranks fourth since 2000 in yards per game behind only three current players with far fewer games played (Justin Jefferson, Puka Nacua and Ja'Marr Chase)." Walder also pointed out Megatron's individual success despite the talent around him, particularly before the arrival of Matthew Stafford. "During Detroit's infamous 0-16 season in 2008, Johnson managed 1,331 yards with Dan Orlovsky, Daunte Culpepper and Jon Kitna at quarterback." No other Lions made this particular list by ESPN, though it's not entirely surprising given how the first 20 years of this century went.
