Reed Blankenship Sounds Off on Eagles Coach
Reed Blankenship Sounds Off on Eagles Coach originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The impact that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had on the Philadelphia Eagles last season was apparent from the very first practice.

Fangio's brutal honesty and no-nonsense approach quickly won over the young Eagles defense. The fact that they were able to finish at the top of the league in most categories showed how perfect a match he was for the current roster.
Their dominance in Super Bowl LIX was the capper on a brilliant campaign.
As the organization prepares for their title defense, the defense has gotten even younger than they were last season. Veteran stars like Darius Slay and James Bradberry have departed the organization for cheaper and younger options.
Philadelphia's unit doesn't expect to skip a beat with Fangio coaching them, though.

"Whatever was said in Miami, that's their locker room. Our locker room is completely different," Eagles safety Reed Blankenship said. "We've got guys that like to be coached and like to be held accountable and obviously that shows on the field.
"We're a young group, but we understand if we want to win the big things we've got to be coached hard."
The Eagles are perceived across the NFL as boasting a loaded roster and no doubt still have plenty of All-Pro and Pro Bowl talent across each level of their defense. With a coach in Fangio that focuses on teaching, there's no telling how good this group can be in 2025.
And Blankenship, taking on more of a leadership role this season, sees exactly that for the Eagles defense.

The Chicago Sky lost their second straight game on Tuesday, dropping them to a 2-6 record during the 2025 WNBA season. Advertisement Although the Sky carried a two-game winning streak into the Commissioner's Cup, they have been set back by a 27-point loss to the Indiana Fever and a 19-point defeat at the hands of the 9-0 New York Liberty. Angel Reese scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Liberty. She also shot a season-best 8-for-13 from the field and added three assists. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images As the Sky adjust to life without Vandersloot, who was averaging 12.0 points and 6.2 assists per game through six contests, they have struggled offensively. In the two games since her injury, the Sky have averaged just 59 points per contest. Advertisement Before Friday's matchup against the 6-3 Atlanta Dream, head coach Tyler Marsh addressed the media about the team's offensive struggles. He honed in on two problems in particular that have plagued Chicago during its losing streak. "I think there's two areas offensively where accountability can be had," Marsh said. "I think that's with turnovers and that's with our movement." Reese has seen a slight dip in production from her 13.6-point, 13.1-rebound per game averages in 2024. She is contributing 10.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per contest this season for the Sky. Ariel Atkins has been the team's leading scorer at 13.4 points per game, and she is also chipping in 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. Kamilla Cardoso is pitching in 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per night during her sophomore campaign as well.
