Canada's 10th most wanted fugitive nabbed at Montreal airport after three years on the run
A fugitive ranked among Canada's top 10 most wanted has been arrested at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport after returning to the country, Quebec provincial police announced Saturday(August 9).
Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron, 36, was wanted on multiple Canada-wide warrants in connection with a 2022 Saskatoon homicide and drug trafficking charges. He was taken into custody by members of the Sûreté du Québec's Airport Unit, the Mascouche Major Crime Investigation Division, and the Canada Border Services Agency.
Police say Ouellet-Gendron had been on the run since May 2022, when Saskatoon police identified him as a suspect in the killing of 29-year-old Brandon Baxandall. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue that month and found Baxandall dead behind an apartment building. Witnesses told investigators they saw two slim-built men dressed in dark clothing fleeing the scene one carrying a strapped bag.
Within days, authorities charged Ouellet-Gendron with first-degree murder, warning the public he was believed to be armed and dangerous. The case also led to other charges, including drug trafficking. The Bolo Program, which highlights Canada's most wanted fugitives, placed Ouellet-Gendron in the number 10 spot on its list in May 2023. The Saskatoon case has already seen one conviction, last year, Mohamed Abdula Ali was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in Baxandall's death.
Saskatoon police later released an eight-minute YouTube video documenting the initial response and investigation. The footage included dashcam video of officers arriving at the scene, bystanders performing chest compressions, police with rifles clearing units in the apartment building, and images of three handguns recovered shortly after the killing.Ouellet-Gendron is expected to appear in a Montreal courthouse on Sunday before being transferred to Saskatchewan to face charges.

Rapper King Yella Faints, Falls Off Chair After Drinking Too Much During Interview
Last Updated: Chicago rapper King Yella collapsed during a YouTube interview after reacting to footage of Tory Lanez being stabbed in prison. Chicago rapper King Yella experienced an unexpected and alarming moment during a recent interview that quickly drew attention online. Known for his work with No Love City, King Yella appeared on YouTube channel Cam Capone News for what was meant to be a nearly two-hour conversation. Throughout the interview, which was posted on August 11, the rapper kept a bottle of Crown Royal whiskey close by, taking frequent sips between questions. As the discussion went on, the effects of the alcohol became increasingly apparent, that led to his sudden collapse. Toward the end of the interview, host Cam Capone showed King Yella footage of rapper Tory Lanez being stabbed during a prison fight earlier this year, a violent incident Yella said he was unaware of prior to seeing the clip. Observing the video, he bluntly commented, 'He's stabbing the shit out his eye," referring to the attacker, inmate Santino Casio. After taking one last drink, Yella set the bottle down and suddenly grimaced, clutching his chest as if in pain. When asked what he thought about the footage, Yella could only manage, 'bro" and 'What the f**k?" before coughing forcefully and falling right out of his chair. The camera crew quickly moved to assist him, and the footage cuts off before showing what happened next. Despite the abrupt ending, the clip spread rapidly online. Some found the moment humorous, which did not sit well with Yella. In response to the online reaction, King Yella took to his Instagram Stories to express his frustration, writing, 'Yall think everything a joke I hate the internet yall be so fuqed up on my soul," according to a Complex report. The video Yella was reacting to depicts a serious and violent incident involving Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson. Lanez is serving a ten-year prison sentence for a 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion. In May, Lanez was stabbed 14 times during a prison fight at the California Correctional Institution. Following the attack, he was transferred to the California Men's Colony. The inmate who attacked him, Santino Casio, claimed the assault was an act of self-defense, stating he believed Lanez had a weapon in his pocket. Since the incident, Lanez's legal team and family have been pushing for his release. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
