Marcus Rashford travelling to Barcelona after loan deal agreed with Manchester United
United have given Rashford permission to fly to the Catalan capital to start the next chapter of his career, with the deal including an option to buy.
Rashford had targeted Barcelona as his ideal destination when it became clear he would leave United in January, and that ambition is now being realised.

Barcelona will cover Rashford's salary for the duration of the loan, with United taking him off their wage bill completely.
Barca head coach Hansi Flick has spoken to the 27-year-old and approved his arrival.
Barcelona have been looking for an attacker who can operate in wide areas and up front, with left-wing considered a priority for the club after they felt they were short of options in that position towards the end of last season.
Taking Rashford on an initial temporary basis would also help Barcelona as they continue to navigate a difficult financial situation.
Rashford's joined Aston Villa in the winter transfer window on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, scoring four goals across 17 appearances for Unai Emery's side.
The England international is one of United's top earners at more than £325,000 per week, of which Villa covered three-quarters — in addition to performance-related bonuses — for the duration of his loan deal.
The United academy product scored 138 goals since his debut in 2015 and has made 426 appearances for the club, the last of which came against Viktoria Plzen in December.

Fabrizio Romano rubber-stamps another Man United summer signing as ‘talented' player seals deal
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed another signing through the door for Manchester United in the form of sought-after centre-half Harley Emsden-James. The 'talented' new arrival has joined from Southampton after attracting widespread interest for his stellar performances. However, United were quick to snap up the talent and beat other clubs to his signature, with Technical Director Jason Wilcox's links to the Saints proving integral in the deal getting over the line. Emsden-James, 16, is an England youth international who'll be vying to claim a spot in the Red Devils' Under-18s once 2025/2026 gets underway. Harley Emsden-James will look to follow in Ayden Heaven's footsteps Emsden-James' switch from Southampton to United was made official on Tuesday. (Photo via Manchester United) INEOS are said to be doing their utmost to recruit younger prospects in a bid to reduce their need to consistently buy senior players year after year. Last winter, 18-year-old Ayden Heaven was brought in from Arsenal on a four-and-a-half-year deal, and went on to make his senior bow just two months later when he was called upon to replace the injured Harry Maguire in a 30-minute cameo against Fulham in the FA Cup. The former Gunner featured in a further five matches before the campaign drew to a close, making his Premier League debut on March 9 and his first European appearance in the Europa League last-16 at home to Real Sociedad. Barring an untimely injury setback, he'd have likely gained even more experience throughout his first term as a Red. United's quiet summer window continues In regards to first-team acquisitions, the United faithful are well aware it's been an uneventful window thus far. Matheus Cunha signed almost straight away, whilst it took the board over six weeks to negotiate an agreement for Bryan Mbeumo. INEOS are now actively scouring the market for a prolific goalscorer to lead Ruben Amorim's line. 🎥 Barcelona reach major milestone with new turf laid at Camp Nou
Barcelona have reached a major milestone in their return to Camp Nou with the pitch being laid on Tuesday. A clip on social media shows the grass being put down at the revamped stadium although as to when the team will start playing at the iconic ground is still unknown. Club officials and local authorities continue to manage the delayed timeline carefully. While Barcelona had initially aimed to resume matches at Camp Nou by August—specifically for the Joan Gamper Trophy on 10 August—that date has been officially ruled out due to pending construction permits, prompting the club to relocate the prestige match to their Johan Cruyff Stadium. In recent days, a technical and operational trial was conducted at the stadium. On 28 July, the club carried out extensive tests focusing on systems critical to match-day logistics—lighting, evacuation routes, fire detection, signage and accessibility in the South stand and VIP areas. Barcelona are targeting a partial reopening on 14 September, capped at around 60% capacity, equating to approximately 62,000 seats, for a La Liga match against Valencia. Despite these preparations, observers note continued delays across the broader redevelopment. While the pitch is ready and key operational elements are being tested, the third tier of seating and the stadium's roof remain under construction and are now postponed until summer 2026, with full completion expected in mid‑2026. Once fully complete, the upgraded stadium will hold around 105,000 spectators, making it the largest in Europe. The renovation includes improved VIP facilities, museum space, and modern accessibility features—all part of the ambitious €1.5 billion Espai Barça project aimed at boosting matchday revenue and club sustainability. 📸 JOSEP LAGO - AFP or licensors

Barcelona release statement following Marc-Andre ter Stegen surgery
Barcelona have confirmed that captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has undergone surgery for a recurring back problem. There is plenty of intrigue surrounding his diagnosis, given the length of his injury could have a major impact on Barcelona's ability to register new players in the coming month. The German goalkeeper announced the decision last week, explaining that he would be out for three months, one month short of the required four-month period for Barcelona to activate La Liga's injury rule. That would allow them to use 80% of the amount of ter Stegen's salary limit cost towards other players on a temporary basis, with new additions Roony Bardghji, Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia currently unregistered. Marc-Andre ter Stegen of FC Barcelona warms up during the Spanish league, La Liga EA Sports, football match played between Villarreal CF and FC Barcelona at La Ceramica stadium on September 22, 2024, in Valencia, Spain. AFP7 22/09/2024 ONLY FOR USE IN SPAIN No timeline given on recovery for ter Stegen It means their ability to do so may hinge on the medical report written up by surgeon Amelie Leglise, who operated on ter Stegen on Tuesday. That much was confirmed by Barcelona, but they did not give a recovery period. Barcelona to submit medical report to La Liga It had been suggested last week by another doctor that ter Stegen's announcement will have little impact on La Liga's ruling. The Blaugrana now have 30 days to submit a report to La Liga, as per MD. Four members of the medical commission for La Liga will then give the green light to the league on the report they receive, provided they perceive no issues. Barcelona were reportedly very unhappy with ter Stegen's announcement, seeing it as deliberate sabotage of their plans, and questions have been raised over his captaincy for next season.
