Manchester United and PSG have been linked with Christopher Nkunku this year, as questions continue to grow over his future at Chelsea.
Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 in a £52 million move, but injuries and strong competition have limited his impact. With doubts surrounding his role, transfer speculation is starting to build.
Journalist Ben Jacobs previously reported that PSG explored a potential reunion with Nkunku earlier this year but chose not to move forward.
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reported Saturday that Chelsea are open to selling and could drop their asking price to around €45 million as they look to trim their wage bill.
The report also notes that Nkunku, who scored 15 goals in 48 appearances last season, is believed to be the club's fourth-highest-paid player. Inter are also said to be keeping an eye on the situation and could explore a loan or other flexible options.
Man Utd, PSG target won't be going to BarcelonaAccording to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have rejected Chelsea's proposal to include Nkunku as part of a deal for Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez.
In July, L'Équipe reported that Nkunku is expected to cost between €35 million and €40 million this summer. Bayern Munich are among the few clubs Nkunku would be open to joining, but there haven't been any concrete talks yet.
Manchester United and Inter Milan have recently made inquiries, while Bayern Munich remain interested. However, they are currently focused on other priorities.

Former Commanders RB happy for his old team

Antonio Gibson is not bitter. A third-round pick of the Washington Commanders in the 2020 NFL draft, Gibson spent four seasons in Washington, but departed after the 2023 season. Gibson's free agency came at a time when the coach who drafted him, Ron Rivera, was fired. And a new regime, led by general manager Adam Peters, took over. On Wednesday, Gibson saw his former team for the first time since his departure and holds no ill will toward his former team. "It's always good to come out here and see some of the people that I did my time with," Gibson told Zach Selby after Wednesday's joint practice. "It's always a good feeling. I did four years there, man, and we went through it all, so, to see them doing good, they healthy, man, you couldn't ask for nothing better than that." Gibson said his goal with the Patriots is to get back to winning. Gibson shares the backfield with a talented second-year quarterback, Drake Maye. Speaking of talented second-year quarterbacks, what does Gibson think of Washington's Jayden Daniels? "Special, man," Gibson said with a smile. "There's not too much to say about it, y'all seen the play, it ain't too much I gotta say. But, special, man. I hope he keeps doing his thing. I hope he has a long career." Gibson and Daniels did not play together for Washington. Gibson rushed for 538 yards and a touchdown in his first season for the Patriots in 2024, and also caught 23 passes. In four seasons for the Commanders, Gibson rushed for 2,643 yards and 22 touchdowns. This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Former Commanders RB happy for his old team

Maresca on Colwill injury, Jackson future and managing minutes

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been speaking to the media before the upcoming friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan on Friday and Sunday respectively. Here are the key lines from his news conference: Defender Levi Colwill "felt something" in training on Monday and they do not know yet how long he is going to be out for. Wesley Fofana has returned to training. Maresca not expecting him to be fit enough for the two friendlies but he "should be available" for the first game of the season against Crystal Palace. Maresca said they "are going to try to share minutes" in pre-season because they have only just returned from three weeks off and have new players to integrate. On the new signings: "I feel very happy about them as they are the ones we were looking at. They need time because they have come from different countries and need time to adapt." He said he is "curious" to see how Chelsea's unprecedented summer schedule with the Club World Cup will impact the squad going into the new season. He added: "They have played over 64 games in a season, which has never happened before, so recovery has been the focus." On the rumours around Nicolas Jackson potentially leaving: "Nico's OK. When the transfer window is open, unfortunately or fortunately, anything can happen. This also involves Nico's situation. We also had two strikers arrive so we will see what happens." He said "the mood is much better" among the players after winning the Conference League and Club World Cup and "it will give the players more energy". On the 'bomb squad' and some of them moving on: "The situation is quite clear. They are training and they are waiting for a solution. I don't pay attention with the ones that are training and need to leave. I just focus on how to prepare the sessions. The news [of them leaving] comes from the club, not me."

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison to have surgery on ruptured ACL

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — England midfielder James Maddison will undergo surgery for a ruptured ACL, Tottenham said Thursday. Maddison was injured during Spurs' preseason friendly against Newcastle in Seoul. No timeframe was given for his recovery. 'His surgery will take place in the coming days and, following that, James will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team,' Tottenham said in a statement. 'Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur wishes James a full and speedy recovery." Recovery from ACL surgery can take between 6-12 months, meaning Maddison is likely to miss the majority of the upcoming season, which starts next week. It is the latest blow for the 28-year-old Maddison, who missed last season's Europa League final with a knee injury. "We will be supporting him every step of the way,' Tottenham said. ___ James Robson is at ___ AP soccer:
