Emphasizing the critical role of petroleum dealers in the energy sector, the Minister pointed out some concerns, including dealer commissions, operation costs, and other issues. The minister also stressed on 'consultation, not confrontation' and praised the steps of intra-state freight rationalisation. Minister Puri also highlighted the challenges faced over the past five years, including COVID-19 and the geopolitical shifts that disrupted India's energy sector.
The Minister presented the future roadmap for dealers to become energy entrepreneurs by encouraging collaboration with OMCs (Oil Marketing Companies) to smoothly implement the EV (Electric Vehicles) charging points, rooftop solar installations, and energy-efficient infrastructure.
Minister Puri stressed the adoption of a digital dispensing system, automated monitoring, and transparent auditing to build trust and authority among customers. Concluding his addresses, the minister advised retailers to look beyond retail margins and strengthen their role in India's energy sector.

Jharkhand Chamber Executive Meet calls for industrial boost in Santhal Region
Sahibganj, July 21 (UNI) The 11th executive committee meeting of the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce was held today in Sahibganj under the chairmanship of Chamber president Paresh Gattani. Hosted by the Eastern Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the meeting saw participation from a 14-member delegation. Local traders raised key issues including the lack of an industrial area, poor train connectivity, inadequate healthcare, sanitation concerns, and imposition of Khasmahal land laws. Discontent was also expressed over illegal truck entry charges by the municipal council. Eastern Chamber president Rajesh Agarwal lauded the Chamber's intervention in halting agriculture tax collection and sought continued support to address policy bottlenecks affecting trade in the district. Describing Santhal Pargana as a region full of potential, business leaders demanded its declaration as an Industrial Thrust Area. Suggestions included setting up agro-based industries, food processing units, spiritual tourism circuits, textile and pharma hubs in Sahibganj, Godda, and Pakur. Gattani said, 'To make Jharkhand prosperous, Santhal Pargana must be empowered.' He underlined Sahibganj's mineral wealth, maize cultivation, and tourism potential. Secretary General Aditya Malhotra added that industrialisation in the region could curb migration. Regional VP Ramesh Kumar demanded a Lohardaga–Bharno–Gumla rail line and flagged toll collection issues. Objection was also raised against a proposed 5% electricity surcharge. Traders were urged to file formal protests. During the meeting, executive member Rohit Poddar contacted civic officials for drain cleaning, with assurance of action within a week. On-demand driver service platform DriveU logs 22% rise in FY25 revenue; net profit zooms to Rs 1.7 crore
Academy Empower your mind, elevate your skills Bengaluru-based on-demand driver service platform DriveU reported a 22% increase in revenue to Rs 111.8 crore in the financial year 2025, up 22% from Rs 91.6 crore a year back, led by an increase in bookings of company's profit after tax (PAT) rose to Rs 1.73 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 11 lakh in FY24, said the company in a release.'We are coming back quicker after Covid-19, with our team delivering one of the strongest performances. We will be increasing our presence in cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi in the coming years,' said Rahm Shastry, chief executive officer of revenues jumped significantly, the company managed to check its overall expenses to Rs 27.8 crore, up 13.5% from Rs 24.5 crore a year back. Its marketing expenses almost doubled on-year to Rs 4.56 crore in FY25. Employee benefit expenses rose to Rs 12.26 crore in FY25 from Rs 10.63 crore in FY24.'In one of our major markets, Bengaluru, we are able to get only 7% of car owners to use our service. We will largely focus on improving our presence by promoting drivers on demand in the next few years,' said company reported Rs 1.74 crore of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda), up from Rs 1.08 crore in the previous in 2015, DriveU has raised around $8.8 million in equity money from a bunch of angel investors and Washington-based Capria Ventures.

LS passes Bill to update, simplify legal framework for shipping documents
Parliament on Monday passed The Bills of Lading Bill, 2025 that aims to update and simplify the legal framework for shipping documents. The Bills of Lading Bill, 2025, which was passed by the Lok Sabha in March this year, was passed in the Rajya Sabha by a voice vote in the absence of Opposition who staged a walk out in the post-lunch session. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal moved the bill for consideration and passage by the Upper House. He said the new legislation will replace the Indian Bill of Lading Act 1856 as the Bill of Lading Act 2025. A bill of lading refers to a document issued by a freight carrier to a shipper. It contains details such as the type, quantity, condition and destination of goods being carried. The bill seeks to make provisions for the transfer of rights of suit and all liabilities to the consignee named in a bill of lading and every endorsee of a bill of lading, to whom the property in the goods mentioned in the bill of lading shall pass, upon or by reason of a consignment or an endorsement.
