Bangladesh: 19 dead, over 100 injured in Dhaka jet crash
Another victim died after being brought to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, taking the confirmed death toll to nineteen. Dr Abhijit, told The Daily Star that more than 50 burn victims had arrived for treatment.
A sixth-grade student was also brought dead to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital, said Prof Bidhan Sarker, head of Burn and Plastic Surgery at the hospital,The Daily Star reported.
"After providing primary treatment, around 60 injured were referred to the burn institute, while 25 with minor injuries are receiving treatment here," said Dr Bazlur from Uttara Adhunik Hospital.
Md Nasiruddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said, "We have 30 beds at the emergency department. As they filled up quickly, we are sending some patients to other departments, " as per The Daily Star.

The aircraft, identified as an 'F-7 BGI' training jet, took off around 1:06 pm (local time), according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Moments later, it crashed into the school premises and burst into flames.
The crash triggered a massive fire and widespread panic as rescue visuals showed thick black smoke billowing over the school and emergency teams rushing in to evacuate the injured. Fire service personnel and Air Force officials quickly launched a rescue operation that is still underway.
Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Air Force jet crash, calling it a moment of "profound pain for the nation."
"I express my deep grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of casualties caused by the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft at the Milestone School and College campus in the Diabari area of the capital today," Yunus said in a statement posted on X.

"The loss suffered by the Air Force, the students, parents, teachers, and staff of Milestone School and College, as well as others affected by this accident, is irreparable. This is a moment of profound pain for the nation," he added.
Yunus also directed hospitals and concerned departments to give full attention to the injured. "I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and direct all concerned authorities, including hospitals, to address the situation with the utmost priority. The government will take necessary measures to investigate the cause of the accident and ensure all forms of assistance."
Fire service teams reached the site quickly, and videos from the scene showed rescue personnel running, thick black smoke rising over the school, and panicked students being moved to safety.

Earlier, Lima Khanam, an officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, confirmed the death of one person. "The training aircraft crashed at the Milestone School and College in Diabari. Our team has recovered one body. The Air Force has rescued four people with injuries and taken them away," BDnews24 quoted her as saying.
A school spokesperson told BDnews24 that the jet fell directly near the main gate, while students were attending classes. "The plane fell on the gate and crashed nearby. A class was in session where the plane crashed. The injured are being taken out one by one."

Indian medical team departs after completing its mission in Bangladesh
Dhaka: The Indian Medical Team, consisting of specialists from two top hospitals of India, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, returned to India on Monday evening after completing its mission in Bangladesh, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said in a statement. The four-member team came to Bangladesh on 23 July 2025, in pursuance of the assurance of support and assistance extended by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in the wake of the devastating air crash at the Milestone School and College in Dhaka on 21 July 2025. During its stay in Dhaka, the Indian Medical Team worked alongside their Bangladeshi counterparts at the National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery (NIBPS), offering specialised medical advice to support the treatment and recovery of the victims of the Milestone tragedy. "The Indian team expressed satisfaction with the treatment protocol being followed at NIBPS and exchanged expert opinions in dealing with the most critical cases," the statement said. "India remains ready to promptly extend any further support required by Bangladesh with regard to critical medical care and rehabilitation of those injured in the tragic incident, including any need for further advanced treatment in India," it added. "The visit of the Indian medical team in the wake of this national tragedy in Bangladesh is a reflection of the deep-rooted nature of people-to-people relations and the enduring bonds of empathy that connect our two countries," the statement said. Reflecting this commitment, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka noted on July 25 that the visiting Indian medical team had provided critical inputs for the treatment methodology of patients injured in the fighter jet crash in Bangladesh. "The Indian Medical Team currently visiting Bangladesh continued their mission to provide medical support to Bangladesh authorities for treatment of critically injured patients in the aftermath of the plane crash of July 21 at Milestone School and College in Dhaka", said the statement posted on the Facebook page of the Indian High Commission, Dhaka. "Today, the team held the second round of consultations with doctors at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, visited some of the patients and observed their prognosis," it added.

Bangladesh Chief Adviser thanks foreign medical teams, including India for treating plane crash victims
Dhaka: A delegation of 21 physicians and nurses from Singapore, China, and India met with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday at the State Guest House Jamuna. The international medical teams are currently in Dhaka to provide specialised healthcare services to victims of the recent plane crash at Milestone School and College. During the meeting, Professor Muhammad Yunus expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the rapid response and medical support extended by the healthcare professionals. He commended their dedication and solidarity at a time of national crisis and emphasised the importance of international cooperation in emergency healthcare. "These teams have come not just with their skills, but with their hearts," said Professor Yunus. "Their presence reaffirms our shared humanity and the value of global partnerships in times of tragedy," he added. The medical teams have been working tirelessly alongside local healthcare professionals to ensure critical treatment and trauma care for the injured, many of whom are young children. The Chief Adviser also acknowledged the swift diplomatic coordination that enabled the teams to arrive and begin their work without delay. He assured the visiting professionals of the government's full support in facilitating their mission. The Chief Adviser also urged the physicians to maintain long-term connections with Bangladesh, even virtually, for institutional collaboration, medical education exchange, and sustained engagement in capacity building and innovation in the healthcare sector. He emphasised that such partnerships could lay the foundation for lasting cooperation in public health and emergency preparedness. Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum thanked the physicians and nurses for extending their hand during this difficult time. Ten members from Singapore, eight from China, and four from India attended the meeting. Among others, the Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka, Yao Wen, and the Singapore Head of Mission in Dhaka were also present at the meeting. On July 21, 2025, a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft, specifically a Chinese-origin F-7 BGI fighter jet, crashed into the Milestone School and College campus in Dhaka's Uttara neighbourhood. The crash resulted in the deaths of at least 27 people and injured over 170 others, mostly students. Bangladesh's interim government declared a national day of mourning on July 22, with flags flown at half-mast in all government offices and educational institutions.
