Centennial rocket cleared for National Security Space Launch missions
DENVER (KDVR) — A rocket developer in Centennial has been approved by the United States Space Force to partake in National Security Space Launch missions.
The United Launch Alliance created its Vulcan rocket after years of development. After two successful certification missions, the rocket has passed its comprehensive certification plan and is now officially certified by Space Force, according to a press release from the alliance.

We are grateful for the collaboration and excited to reach this critical milestone in Vulcan development,' said Tory Bruno, ULA's president and CEO in the release. 'Vulcan is uniquely designed to meet the challenging requirements demanded by an expanding spectrum of missions for U.S. national security space launches.'
In September of 2016, ULA entered into an agreement with the United States Air Force, who made an outline of how the Vulcan would have to perform in the Air Force's New Entrant Certification Guide.
From then until now, the Vulcan has undergone and completed 52 certification criteria, including:
180 'discrete tasks'
Two certification flight demonstrations
60 payload interface requirement verfications
18 subsystem design and test reviews
114 hardware and software audits
'The SSC and ULA teams have worked together extremely closely, and certification of this launch system is a direct result of their focus, dedication and teamwork,' said Gen Panzenhagen, Program Executive Officer for Assured Access to Space.
The Vulcan possesses the world's highest-performing upper stage, according to the release, which extends ULA's industry-leading legacy of precision.
The Centaur V is flexible and durable, allowing it to perform complex orbital insertions. The capabilities of the technology allow large NSSL spacecraft to have direct injection into Geosynchronous Orbit.
ULA said it is a critical requirement supporting the country facing evolving threats.
The Vulcan rocket is available in four different variations that include the zero, two, four or six solid boosters. The boosters are powered by BE-4 engines, which ULA said are the most powerful liquified natural gas-fueled oxygen-rich staged combustion engine ever flown.

The booster engines can produce 550,000 pounds of thrust. The American-made engines also ended the use of Russia's RD-180 engine.

In earlier deals, both Adam Spice and Frank Klein sold shares, parting with 62,511 and 35,988 shares, respectively, near $24.15 on November 25. I think, insiders prefer to secure their earnings from Rocket Lab's small missions, wait out expectations around Neutron and enter the market again when there are valued gains to pursue. Rocket Lab currently trades at 27.7 sales, compared with the aerospace & defense sector average of 2.7. This implies investors expect significantly higher growth despite today's modest revenues. For context, BWX Technologies (NYSE:BWXT) is valued at 34.3 earnings, roughly in line with the sector average, while ATI (NYSE:ATI) sits at 27.6 earnings, closer to broader industrial valuations. By contrast, Rocket Lab's 27.7-sales multiple appears elevated relative to peers. With roughly 461 million shares outstanding and a share price near $26.79, Rocket Lab's market capitalization is about $12.36 billion. To justify that valuation via a reverse DCF, investors would need to receive $12.36 billion in present-value free cash flow. Assuming each launch yields $52.5 million in revenue with a 5 % free cash flow margin (about $2.625 million per launch), Rocket Lab would have to complete roughly 4,710 successful launches ($12.36 billion $2.625 million) to generate that level of cash flow. In short, by standard DCF metrics and Gurufocus GF Model, Rocket Lab looks significantly overvalued today. Rocket Lab's stock has had a wild ride, plummeting early in 2025, ripping higher on Neutron hype and big defense wins, then dropping again after softer guidance. Its backlog and government contracts suggest real momentum, and Neutron's cheaper, reusable design could shake up the launch market. Yet the company is still losing money, burning cash on R&D and new facilities, and insiders and big funds have trimmed positions. At today's rich valuation, you're paying for future success, not current profits. SiriusXM reported about 33 million subscribers and $1.6 billion in total revenue during the first quarter of the year, per an earnings release. The satellite radio company's podcast business continued to grow, racking up nearly 1 billion downloads and 70 million monthly podcast listeners. The SXM-10 satellite will lift off atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 40 during a window that opens at 11:19 p.m. June 6 and extends overnight until 3:48 a.m. June 7, a Federal Aviation Administration operations plan advisory shows.
