Since the introduction of the DAX framework in 2019, the commission has observed steady growth in Malaysia's digital asset industry with 2024 being the highest total trading value of 13.9 billion ringgit (3.32 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 2.6 times from 2023.
According to the statement, the public consultation period will run through Aug. 11, 2025.

Versa's fixed rate campaign offers 4.2pct yearly returns, flexible withdrawals
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian investors looking for a flexible yet rewarding alternative to fixed deposits now have a new option. Versa, a digital wealth platform regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia, has launched its 'Fixed Rate Quests' campaign, offering guaranteed returns of up to 4.2 per cent* per annum on selected products. Running until Jan 31, 2026, the campaign invites investors to unlock these rates by topping up fresh funds into either Versa Cash or Versa Cash-i, both of which are powered by low-risk money market funds managed by AHAM Asset Management Bhd. With this campaign, investors stand to earn up to 4.2 per cent per annum in Versa Cash*, which is powered by the AHAM Enhanced Deposit Fund. Those who prefer a Syariah-compliant option can opt for Versa Cash-i*, which offers up to 3.9 per cent per annum through the AHAM Aiiman Enhanced i-Profit Fund. The fixed rate applies to fresh fund cash-ins of up to RM300,000 and is calculated on an almost daily prorated basis during the campaign period. RETURNS WITH NO FIXED LOCK-IN Versa chief executive officer Teoh Wei-Xiang described the campaign as a smart alternative to traditional Fixed Deposits, noting that unlike conventional options, Fixed Rate Quests allow users to withdraw their funds at any time without losing their base returns. "You'll enjoy guaranteed returns but with the flexibility to access your funds when you need them. "Even if you cash out early, your money still earns Versa's usual competitive base nett returns," he said. For context, the base nett return for Versa Cash in May this year was 3.89 per cent** per annum, while Versa Cash-i delivered 3.54 per cent** per annum. Any top-ups made during the holding period that meet the campaign requirements will also reactivate the fixed rate on a prorated basis, offering further flexibility to users who may need to dip into their savings. TWO PHASES, SIMPLE RULES The campaign is structured into two clear phases: Qualifying period (1 to 31 July, 2025): Top up fresh funds to unlock your fixed rate. Simply cash in a required minimum amount of RM2,000 into your Versa Cash account, or a required minimum amount of RM1,000 into your Versa Cash-i account. Phase 2 (Aug 1 to Jan 31, 2026): To continue earning the fixed rate, users must maintain their cumulative nett cash-in at or above the qualifying threshold. Funds are accessible at any time, and campaign rewards will be credited to user accounts by the end of Feb 2026. With over 300,000 users and more than RM1.2 billion in transactions to date, Versa continues to attract Malaysians looking for safer, low-entry-point investment options that don't compromise on returns or convenience. Oil prices little changed as expectations for OPEC+ increase weigh
SINGAPORE: Oil futures were little changed on Wednesday as markets weighed expectations from more supply from major producers next month, a softer U.S. dollar and a mixed bag of economic and market indicators from the U.S., the world's largest oil consumer. Brent crude slipped 4 cents to $67.07 a barrel at 0618 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 9 cents to $65.36 a barrel. Brent has traded between a high of $69.05 a barrel and low of $66.34 since June 25, as concerns of supply disruptions in the Middle East producing region have ebbed following the ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Weighing on prices, sources said American Petroleum Institute data late on Tuesday showed U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 680,000 barrels in the past week at a time when stockpiles typically draw amid the summer demand season. "Today's oil price moves are being pushed by the interplay of potentially rising OPEC+ supply, confusing U.S. inventory signals, uncertain geopolitical outlook, and macro-policy ambiguity," said Phillip Nova senior market analyst Priyanka Sachdeva. However, planned supply increases by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies including Russia, know as OPEC+, appear already priced in by investors and are unlikely to catch markets off-guard again imminently, she added. Four OPEC+ sources told Reuters last week the group plans to raise output by 411,000 barrels per day next month when it meets on July 6, a similar amount to hikes agreed for May, June and July. The market is already seeing the results of the previous OPEC+ increases with Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil exporter, lifting shipments in June by 450,000 bpd from May, according to data from Kpler, its highest in more than a year. "With geopolitics at bay for now, oil futures (are likely) to trade within a tighter range this week, as global economic concerns persist, with an 'easing dollar' as the only exception to extend any upward traction," said Sachdeva. The greenback fell to a 3-1/2-year low against major peers earlier on Wednesday and a weaker dollar would support prices as its could spur demand for buyers paying in other currencies. U.S. non-farm payrolls data due on Thursday will shape expectations around the depth and timing of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve in the second half of this year, said Tony Sycamore, analyst at IG. Lower interest rates could spur economic activity which would in turn boost oil demand. Official U.S. oil stockpile data from the Energy Information Administration is due Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. ET. - Reuters

Indonesia eases regulation on franchising businesses
JAKARTA: Indonesia has eased registration requirements for companies seeking to franchise their businesses, aiming to streamline the process, Xinhua reported. The modified rules are stipulated in the 2025 Ministerial Regulation No. 25 on Procedures for Issuing Franchise Registration Certificates by Local Administrations. At a press conference here on Monday (June 30), the country's Trade Minister Budi Santoso (pic) said those franchising businesses that have registered for a permit and obtained the registration certificates will be eligible to operate in any region, despite no confirmations from local administrations within five working days. Santoso explained that the modified rules were prompted after the ministry found out that the issuance of registration certificates by each regional government often took a long time, potentially hindering business operations across the country. Prior to the easing, local administrations had authority in issuing the certificates. - Bernama-Xinhua
