Happy birthday, Javier Zanetti!

Yahoo3 days ago
Javier Zanetti turns 52 today. Arriving in the summer of 1995, he quietly yet resolutely put on the Inter colours for the first time, beginning a legendary journey that would see him become the personification of interismo.
On the pitch, game after game, he became a pillar for the team, an example of strength, humility, and dedication. His 858 appearances in the Nerazzurri jersey, an all-time Club record, were crowned with 16 trophies: one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one UEFA Cup, five Scudetti, four Coppa Italia titles, and four Italian Super Cups. However, his key role in the club didn't come to an end after his retirement from playing; as Vice President, he has helped secure more victories, adding two more Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles, and three Italian Super Cups.
In 2018, his name was forever written in with the legends as he became the first defender in history to be honoured with a place in the Nerazzurri Hall of Fame. An honour that speaks to what words alone cannot capture: his love for our colours and his extraordinary leadership.
All the very best wishes from the Inter family!

Sevilla's Loic Bade nearing transfer to Bayer Leverkusen

Sevilla's Loic Bade nearing transfer to Bayer Leverkusen originally appeared on The Sporting News Ever since joining Sevilla on loan in January 2023, centerback Loic Bade has stood as a crucial component to the Spanish club's defense, but German side Bayer Leverkusen are working to secure a transfer for the French international. According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Bade reached an agreement with Leverkusen sometime last week, so both the player and the approaching club are in sync on this transfer. Now, Bade's fate rests with Leverkusen's ability to strike a deal with Sevilla, but Romano indicated that an agreement may be on the horizon. Last season, Bade started 32 matches for Sevilla across its La Liga campaign and Copa del Rey ventures, registering a goal and assist in that timespan, but his primary contributions came on the defensive end of the pitch. To that effect, Bade made 47 tackles, intercepted 29 passes and blocked 22 shots during his run of La Liga play. During his time in Spain, Bade has acquitted himself as one of the most talented young centerbacks in the league thanks to his combination of size (6-3, 190 lbs.), speed and ball distribution. In fact, Bade logged one of the best pass-completion rates among La Liga centerbacks by finding his intended recipient at an 85.7% clip. In recent weeks, Sevilla's defense has been a hot commodity on the transfer market with right back Juanlu Sanchez drawing interest from the Italian side Napoli, though an agreement between the two clubs has not yet been reached. READ MORE: Barcelona have closed their transfer window From a Leverkusen perspective, the German club is likely looking to bolster a back line that suffered the departure of Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool over the summer. Now that Xabi Alonso is no longer at the club, it could be important for Leverkusen to strengthen its defense if it hopes to reach similar heights during the 2025-26 season as it did previously under Alonso.
