BENGALURU: Lupin is using Honeywell's Solstice Air in its respiratory inhalers at scale, redefining respiratory care with near-zero global warming potential propellants.
Designed for patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Honeywell Solstice Air has the potential to prevent the release of high global warming potential (GWP) molecules, marking a major step forward in helping to reduce carbon emissions.
Solstice Air offers an alternative to traditional hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-based propellants, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 99.9%.
' By integrating Solstice Air in our products, we are not only enhancing patient care, but we are also significantly reducing environmental impact,' said Vinita Gupta, CEO Lupin.
'Solstice Air can play a critical role in ensuring that Lupin's respiratory inhalers provide safe and effective treatment options that also leverage the latest advancements in technology to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions,' said Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India. 'By continuing to research and develop advanced technologies for reducing carbon, Honeywell is dedicated to driving innovation that enhances the efficacy of health solutions while pioneering emissions-reducing practices that support industry advancements.

Good, bad and sick

As AI companies delete the health disclaimers, the chatbots are running amok playing doctor, doctor Doctors may be wishing they could return to the good old days of Dr Google. Because Dr AI is much more formidable competition and foe. What's dangerous is how a chatbot super personalises vast amounts of health data and then, via conversational intimacy, seduces the patient to take its advice when what's needed is seeing a real medical professional. In a case reported in Annals of Internal Medicine this month, a man developed bromide toxicity, a rare condition, after consulting ChatGPT about reducing salt in his diet. It advised him to swap sodium chloride with sodium bromide. The thing is, if he hadn't landed in the hospital, this wouldn't have gone on record. Last month, another US study found that compared to more than 26% of chatbot answers to health queries in 2022, less than 1% in 2025 contain some kind of warning about the LLM not being a doctor. This finding is especially troubling as the Stanford and US researchers used the likes of mammograms and chest X-rays to screen for disclaimer phrases. It indicates how much AI companies are encouraging people to use it for health advice. At the GPT-5 launch event, for example, a person spoke about uploading her biopsy results onto it and taking its help to decide whether to pursue radiation. Actual medical advice is not plain pattern matching. It engages with the complexity of individual medical histories and circumstances. AI can be useful in the health sector in many ways. But Indians already pop enough pills prescribed only by their neighbourhood chemist. Substituting professional medical judgement with chatbot advice would worsen their health horribly. GenAI models, even as they become more capable and authoritative, must also use proper disclaimers and safeguard against the dangers of providing diagnosis in place of a doctor. From planning travel itineraries to creating sustainable fitness plans, people are finding ways to integrate the artificial intelligence (AI) tool into their everyday lives. Simran Valecha, a health and weight-loss expert, is among the people who used ChatGPT to create a weight-loss plan. In an old Instagram post, she revealed that she lost 10 kg - all while eating ice-cream - thanks to an AI-created diet plan. Simran Valecha's Weight Loss Prompt That Helped Her Lose Kilos She even shared the prompt that helped her lose weight. "Steal my ChatGPT prompt and create your own weight loss plan," she wrote in the caption. The prompt she used: "I am (height) and I weigh (weight). I want to lose weight in a sustainable manner. Can you please prepare an Indian diet chart for me that includes 3 main meals and 2 -4 snacks. I work (timing: ex, 9-6) job and spend (hours spent travelling)/I work from home. I workout in the (morning/evening/night). My preferences for breakfast include (write your preferences). My preferences for lunch include (write your preferences). My preferences for dinner include (write your preferences)." According to Valecha, the AI-generated meal plan catered to her needs and preferences, making it easier to stick to. She added that AI has changed how we live. "We can all get a diet plan online - I understand that what you actually need to lose weight." 1. Support to actually implement the diet because we understand that every day looks different. 2. Someone to guide you on how to eat at restaurants during your diet. 3. Someone to talk to when you eat a brownie at 2 am because you were stressed. 4. Someone to tell you what to actually do - because every "expert" is offering different opinions on how to lose weight. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Simran - Health, Wellness & Weight Loss Expert (@simvalecha) Is Using ChatGPT For Weight Loss A Good Idea According to Healthline, AI-based fitness plans isn't all bad - but it comes with its limitations. The pros include creating general meal plans and offering basic information, which can be a good starting point. However, the cons are significant: AI can't offer nuanced advice, assess your physical condition, or track your progress. It may even provide outdated or misleading information. Experts suggest that while ChatGPT can be a helpful tool, it should never replace professional medical or nutritional guidance. You should always consult your doctor before making any major lifestyle or dietary changes.
