Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has reacted to Wamiqa Gabbi's post about her journey from Love Aaj Kal to Bhool Chuk Maaf. For the unversed, Wamiqa had a blink-and-miss appearance in Thoda Thoda Pyar song from Imtiaz's Love Aaj Kal in 2009, which starred Giselli Monteiro as Harleen Kaur.
While we were the first to begin the conversation, Wamiqa Gabbi recently shared a post discussing how she began her film career with Love Aaj Kal, and now her upcoming release Bhool Chuk Maaf features a song from the same film. The post garnered a lot of love from both the audience and her peers, including Imtiaz Ali. He shared Wamiqa's post on social media and wrote, 'Kill it @wamigagabbi our chhotiwaali is a big girl now!!!!!" Wamiqa responded to his shoutout by writing, 'Thaaaaaaank you Imtiaz sir I learned from the best." Take a look:
At exactly 1 minute 11 seconds, Wamiqa was seen wearing a kurta, tehmat (dhoti), turban, and moustache for a few seconds before disappearing from the song. Fast forward to today: The actor is now playing the female lead opposite Rajkummar in Chor Bazari Phir Se, a new version of the same track from a film in which she once appeared as a background dancer.
On Wednesday, Wamiqa shared a glimpse of her appearance in Love Aaj Kal and wrote a letter to her younger self. Addressed as 'Dear Younger Wamiqa", she penned, 'You were always a dreamer and a hard working one ! As a kid on that Love Aaj Kal set – you were not just a junior artist enjoying the work that came your way because your Daddaa believed in you, but you believed in yourself too…. You were nervous, excited, soaking it all in on that set. You have only continued to work harder without worrying about whats coming next!"
She continued, 'Cut to 16 years later, The song from the same film is playing and the same love for the camera still lives on, but this time, it's your story ! Every time I hear Chor Bazaari, it hits a little different now ! You've gone from being in one fleeting frame as a toddler with a mooch and a massa, to finding your own space in the spotlight. It's wild how life can throw such beautiful moments to cherish, especially when you least expect it!"

I received a call saying there's a song in the film Bhool Chuk Maaf by Maddock Films, featuring Rajkummar Rao, and I'd be dancing with him, and in that moment, I knew I was going to do this song. I mean, who would say no to that? Rajkummar Rao is, as we all know, one of the finest, most talented actors in our industry. Whether it's drama, comedy, or dance, his performance is a complete package. It's a treat to watch his films. My mother was thrilled, and my entire family was incredibly supportive. They've seen how much hard work and dedication I've put into my craft, despite all the challenges. They were extremely proud and truly grateful to see this moment happen. It feels like all the discipline and sincerity I've poured into my work has really paid off. I honestly didn't take any references or look at past hit party numbers for 'Ting Ling Sajna' because every song is unique. I wanted to make sure I carried that vibe and did justice to the storytelling. Dance has always been the most defining part of my journey, and whatever I've achieved today is because of the talent I bring to it. The time loop love story - 'Bhool Chuk Maaf,' headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has completed two weeks at the box office. Despite the initial release delay and controversies, the movie was able to find its footing with the audience. However, now with Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan's 'Housefull 5' taking charge at the box office, 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' is losing its grip. According to Sacnilk, the comedy film opened its third week with a major dip, collecting only Rs 47 lakhs on Friday.
