In the headliner of UFC 318 tonight at Smoothie King Center In New Orleans, Louisiana, Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway will clash in a must-see bout marking the final fight of 36-year-old Poirier's career.
Lafayette, Louisiana, native Poirier and Holloway have met twice previously, with Poirier submitting Holloway back in 2012 at featherweight. Poirier also beat Holloway (this time by unanimous decision) at lightweight in 2019.
Tonight, the two meet at lightweight for the UFC's BMF belt in the most high-profile fight of an intriguing card.
Below, we'll dive into the Poirier vs. Holloway betting odds, then give a prediction and a few best bets.
Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier Betting Odds
Below are the moneyline odds for Saturday night's fight.
DK FD bet365 Max Holloway -135 -134 -138 Dustin Poirier +114 +114 +110
Holloway, 33, is the slight favorite in a battle between two of the winningest fighters in UFC history.
It's interesting -- and tempting -- that Poirier is available at plus-money despite winning the previous two meetings between these two. Another reason to like Poirier is the raucous support he'll have on his home turf in Louisiana in his swan song.
Both these fighters have notched a number of impressive victories throughout their long careers. From Holloway's unforgettable "KO of the century" vs. Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 last year to Poirier's knockout of Conor McGregor in 2021, tonight's main event features two men responsible for a slew of memorable moments over the years.
Though both Poirier and Holloway are elite strikers who pack plenty of knockout power, tonight's matchup is expected to go the distance.
At DraftKings, over 4.5 rounds is priced at -154, with under 4.5 rounds listed at +120.
At FanDuel, in the "Will the Fight Go the Distance?" market, yes is listed at -132, and no is +104.
UFC 318 Holloway vs. Poirier Pick, Best Bets
When two fighters have met multiple times and the one who has lost both of the previous matchups is favored, figuring out the best bets is always tricky.
Between the home crowd and his comfort level at his usual lightweight class (Holloway is up from his usual featherweight), Poirier has a few undeniable advantages.
The price on "Will the Fight Go the Distance -- yes" isn't exactly irresistible, but I don't see either Hollloway or Poirier recording a knockout or winning this one by submission. With that in mind, the safe play here is on the fight to go the distance.
And it's worth noting that the FD price is excellent considering the same play is listed at -150 or shorter at both DK and bet365.
As for the winner, I'm going with the sentimental favorite, Poirier, who has twice gotten the better of his opponent in this matchup.
Another reason to like Poirier tonight is that Holloway is coming off the first loss via knockout of his career in his clash with Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 last October.
Keep in mind, though, that Poirier has lost two of his last three fights, including a loss by submission to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 last June.
Best bets:
Will the fight go the distance? -- Yes (-132 at FanDuel) -- 1 unit
Dustin Poirier moneyline (+114 available at FD, DK) -- 0.75 units

Pacers' TJ McConnell Sounds Off About Kyrie Irving

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Indiana Pacers and point guard T.J. McConnell are fresh off of a run to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, they came up just short against the Oklahoma City Thunder and lost Game 7 of the series following star point guard Tyrese Haliburton's torn Achilles injury. During the Finals, McConnell became a household name. Everyone in Indiana had already come to love him, but he hadn't been a name talked about much around the league. With fans getting to see him on the biggest stage in basketball, McConnell stepped up and played at an incredibly high level. T.J. Recently, he spoke out with a strong opinion about who the toughest player in the NBA is to guard. Of course, McConnell is known as a tenacious defender. He wreaks havoc on many opposing guards. However, there is one guard that he has difficulty with in particular. That guard is none other than Dallas Mavericks' superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. During an appearance on the "Christian Kuntz Podcast," McConnell spoke out with a strong message about Irving. "Who's the hardest guy I've had to guard? Kyrie Irving," McConnell said. "The ball's on a string. You're on an island, and you just don't know what he's gonna do. You could force him one way, but he still ends up getting the way you don't want him. His handle is impeccable. It's impeccable. He's got the greatest handle I've seen. He could really shoot it like, he's fast, it's just, it's a tough place to be mentally when you're when you're guarding Kyrie." There is no concrete timetable for his return to the court, but the Mavericks are hoping that he'll be playing during the 2025-26 season. All of that being said, McConnell showering Irving with this kind of praise is telling. Irving has been a lethal scorer and ball-handler his entire career. McConnell and the Pacers will have their work cut out for them during the 2025-26 campaign. Without Haliburton on the court, they'll have a steep hill to climb to remain as one of the top teams in the NBA. Dustin Poirier: 'I feel appreciated. I feel seen'

For one final time, Dustin Poirier left it all inside the Octagon. "The Diamond" lost his retirement match to rival Max Holloway Saturday night at UFC 318 from New Orleans, Louisiana. Poirier, a former interim UFC champion, had announced the bout would be his last weeks before it took place. The promotion was able to have the card in Louisiana, his home state. "I feel appreciated. I feel seen. I never stepped outside of fighting and looked at it this way. I never got to look at it third person. "This week has been incredible. I feel loved by the fans, Louisiana and the company. I'm a kid living the dream out here." Poirier had won the first two meetings with Holloway, scoring a decision in 2019 and a submission win back in 2012. Patricio Freire shares mixed feelings with first UFC win, wants Aaron Pico next

Patricio Freire had mixed feelings after winning his first UFC fight. NEW ORLEANS – Patricio Freire is conflicted over his first UFC victory. The former Bellator champion stepped into the octagon for the second time at UFC 318 to face Dan Ige, and came out with a unanimous decision nod. Despite getting his first win under the UFC banner, Freire (37-8 MMA, 1-1 UFC) believes he could have done more to prove his skills against Ige (19-10 MMA, 11-9 UFC). "I'm happy, but I know I can do better," Freire told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight news conference. "Much respect to my opponent. Dan Ige's a very tough guy. ... He's very good, but I'm better. I proved it today." "Pitbull" made his UFC debut against former interim titleholder Yair Rodriguez at UFC 314, losing by unanimous decision. The scorecards were in his favor this time around, and while he was glad to get his hand raised, he wasn't satisfied with his performance. "I'm not very happy now – because I know I can do better," Freire said. "I was with a little pressure on my shoulder. I came from a defeat. Of course, I lost the April fight against Yair. He's very good. He was a former champion, but I know I'm better than these guys." Freire hopes to make a quick turnaround to face a fellow former Bellator competitor waiting to make his debut, Aaron Pico, who was scheduled to face Movsar Evloev at UFC on ABC 9 on July 26. "He's ready, I'm ready," Freire said. "I cut my nose now, but two days, I'm good. ... He can make his debut in the UFC against me. Now I'm a (UFC) veteran."
