Reputable industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will release a larger-screen iPhone 19 Air in the second half of 2027 on the 20th Anniversary of Apple.
As the corporation wants to broaden its iPhone portfolio, this model will be part of Apple's expanding product plan and is expected to replace the iPhone 18 Air, which is expected to appear in 2026.

iPhone 19 Air expected specifications
In contrast to the iPhone 18 Air model, which is anticipated to launch a year earlier, the iPhone 19 Air will have a larger display, per Kuo's most recent forecast detailing Apple's roadmap through 2027.
Although the device's precise dimensions were not revealed, Kuo made it clear in his product schedule that it will provide "a larger display vs. 18 Slim". Kuo most likely uses the term "Slim" to refer to Apple's predicted ultra-thin handset, which we are calling the iPhone 17 Air and the first of which is anticipated this September.
With a 6.6-inch screen, the reported iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to be bigger than the iPhone 17 but smaller than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple's larger plan to broaden its product offerings in response to pressure from competitors seems to include the enlarged Air lineup.
"Intense competition, particularly in China," is cited by Kuo as a major factor in Apple's intentions to switch to a bi-annual release cycle in 2026.

Apple partners with Tata Group for iPhone, MacBook repairs in India

In a move that could expand iPhone manufacturer Apple Inc.'s footprint in India, the company has announced a partnership with the Tata Group to manage after-sales repairs for its iPhones and MacBook devices in the country. According to a report citing sources, the repairs will be conducted at Tata's existing iPhone assembly campus located in Karnataka. Tata is taking over the repair mandate from ICT Service Management Solutions, the Indian arm of Taiwan's Wistron. While Apple's authorized service centers across India handle basic repairs, devices requiring more complex servicing will now be shipped to Tata's specialized facility. Wistron's ICT unit will continue to provide services for its other clients, excluding Apple. The announcement comes despite warnings from US President Donald Trump, who urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to manufacture iPhones intended for the US market domestically—or face a 25% tariff. This marks the second instance in which the US president publicly discouraged Apple from expanding its manufacturing base in India. On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that he told Cook to ensure iPhones for American consumers are made in the US, not in India or anywhere else. In May 2025, during a business trip to Qatar, Trump reiterated his opposition to Apple increasing its investments in Indian manufacturing.

Introduced at WWDC 2024 and released to the public in September, iOS 18 ushered in a new era of personalization, intelligence, and cross-platform connectivity. For the first time, users could fully customize their Home Screen and Control Center, while a redesigned Photos app streamlined media update also brought RCS messaging support, bridging the communication gap between iPhone and Android users. Most notably, iOS 18 marked Apple's official entry into generative AI with Apple Intelligence a privacy-first suite of on-device tools integrated into everyday apps and an enhanced Siri experience. From offline maps and scheduled messages to Game Mode and advanced accessibility features, iOS 18 redefined what users expect from a mobile operating such a feature-rich update, it's no surprise that iOS 18 has seen rapid adoption across Apple's ecosystem. According to Apple, 88% of all iPhones introduced in the last four years are now running iOS 18, with overall adoption across all compatible iPhones at 82%. The uptake has been similarly strong on the iPad front 81% of iPads released in the past four years have updated to iPadOS 18, while 71% of all active iPads are now on the latest version. These numbers highlight not only Apple's consistent update rollout strategy but also the high user trust in its software of the key reasons behind iOS 18's impressive adoption rate is the central role that Software Update plays in the iPhone experience. Unlike many other smartphone platforms, Apple delivers its updates directly to users without carrier delays or third-party intervention ensuring quick, consistent access to the latest features, technologies, and security sets Apple apart is its commitment to longevity: iOS 18 is supported all the way back to the iPhone Xs, allowing a wide range of users to benefit from new features and improvements, regardless of the device's age. Updates are easy to install, with many users opting into automatic overnight updates, and Apple even offers the flexibility to remain on an older iOS version temporarily while still receiving critical security patches. This seamless and inclusive update model not only extends the useful life and resale value of older devices, but also strengthens security across the ecosystem. For developers, this consistency means they can confidently adopt the latest APIs and tools, knowing most users will have access ultimately resulting in better, more feature-rich apps for everyone. It's this deep integration of hardware and software, and Apple's end-to-end control of the experience, that makes broad adoption possible and beneficial.

Counterpoint Research estimates that around 11 million iPhones were sold in India last year, giving Apple a 7 per cent market share, up from just 1 per cent in 2020. The latest contract award demonstrates Apple's growing confidence in Tata as it aims to secure more business from the world's most valuable smartphone company. Prabhu Ram, a vice president at Cybermedia Research, noted that Tata's deepening partnership with Apple could lay the groundwork for the US tech giant to sell refurbished devices directly in India, similar to its operations in the United States. The transition of responsibilities from ICT to Tata is currently underway, according to both sources. While Apple's official service centers across India can handle basic repairs, more complex issues will now be shipped to Tata's facility. However, Wistron's ICT will continue to service other clients excluding Apple, one of the sources mentioned.
