Meanwhile, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Thursday that the Steelers would once again bench the bulk of their top players and go in with almost all reserves at the team's most important positions. This includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers did not play in the first preseason game. Rodgers signed with the Steelers just days before the start of mandatory team activities so not playing him in the preseason is a risky move given how many new players Pittsburgh has on offense. In addition to Rodgers, the Steelers will be without more than a dozen starters between the offense and defense, including T.J. Watt, Jalen Ramsey, Jaylen Warren and Pat Freiermuth.
