Equinox's new class has fitness freaks running up the Vessel
For tourists from around the world, the Vessel in Hudson Yards is a main attraction. They pay $10 a visit to climb to the top of the 16-story structure —which features 2,500 steps across 154 zig-zagging flights of stairs — and take in views of the city from 80 different landings.
But for some local New Yorkers, the Vessel is just a huge piece of gym equipment.
A just-launched Equinox workout class has fitness freaks paying $55 to run up and down the honeycomb-shaped structure four times in 45-minutes and complete a grueling upper body strength workout at the top. It's no walk in the park.

'It was more challenging than I thought it would be,' said Edgar Irizarry, 32, who works in tech, lives on the Upper West Side and did the class Tuesday morning. 'You think you are full of energy but then when you start getting closer to the top your legs just start hurting and feel really heavy and you still have two flights to go.'
The classes take place on Tuesday at 7 a.m. — for Equinox members only — and Thursday at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. for the general public. Reservations must be made in advance.

Andrew Slane, one of the instructors, said the class is even difficult for those already in good shape.
'It's very humbling,' he told The Post. 'Many of the people taking the class run marathons and they were like, 'This is hard.''
Christopher Vo, Director of Group Fitness Programming for Equinox, said it's uniquely challenging because of the climbing aspect, which strengthens the glutes and legs.

'A lot of times when we are in a group fitness environment we are able to do things front to back or side to side but rarely do we get to go vertical,' said Vo. 'It's also a great cardiovascular workout.'
Equinox has been wanting to do a class at the Vessel since it reopened last October, following a three-year closure necessitated by a string of suicides. Vo said it's a truly unique fitness venue.
'To be in it and have the structure swirl around you, it's really special,' said Vo.

The class, which has 20 to 25 people, starts with a stretching session at the base. Then participants rum up the Vessel, back down, and up again. At the top they do upper body resistance movement with arm bands for about 10 minutes, before running down again and doing more exercises, such as mountain climbers and planks, at the base. Then they repeat the entire process — or at least some do.

'Some of the runners come down and never go back up,' said someone who works at the Vessel and has observed early classes.
Shahar Ifrah, 24, who lives in the city and works at the Israeli consulate, said one of the advantages of the class is that you get to be at the Vessel hours before it opens to the public at 10 a.m.
'It was crazy intense, amazing, and so much fun to get to experience this without any tourists around,' said Ifrah, who participated in Tuesday's class. 'I absolutely want to do it again as many times as I can sign up.'
Another advantage: she recorded herself running up the structure on her phone.

'I'm definitely going to post these videos,' she said. 'Everyone is going to see that I did this.'

But she had her limits. At the end of the class the instructors wanted to take a group photo back at the top of the Vessel. Although they told the group they could walk, not run, even that seemed like a stretch.
Ifrah asked, 'Isn't the elevator working?'

'gloria' Kendrick Lamar new music On Nov. 22, 2024, Lamar shocked the world with his previously-unannounced sixth studio album 'GNX.' Made up of 12 tracks, the talented lyricist delivers his trademark punchy rhymes — that are almost impossible to get out of your head in the best way — over sparse drumbeats and samples. Personally, our favorite tracks here are the impressively minimalist rapper's delight 'wacced out murals' (which ended up opening his halftime show), Latin-infused 'reincarnated' and lively party-starter 'tv off' feat. lefty gunplay. Advertisement Stick around until the end, too. Kendrick teams up with SZA for the evocative, sensitive duet 'gloria.' We can't wait to hear this one live IRL (especially now that we know it's literally the show's encore). Want to check the album out for yourself? Click here to listen to 'GNX.' SZA new music SZA's 23-song, 2022 album 'SOS' has proven to be a hit with critics and fans in the nearly three years since its release. Rolling Stone said the record 'delivers sharp barbs and juicy revelations' in a glowing four-star review. 'SZA's long, ambitious, luxurious new album solidifies her position as a generational talent,' Pitchfork raved. They summed up that sentiment calling her 'otherworldly, but you just might know someone a little like her, too.' If you want to brush up on the record before seeing her live, you can stream 'SOS' here. Hip-Hop icons on tour in 2025 Although it will be difficult to top Kendrick and SZA's jaunt in terms of sheer star power, scope and scale, we're just as excited to catch a number of big names live these next few months. Here are just five iconic acts we can't wait to see in the near future. • Tyler, The Creator • Wu-Tang Clan • NBA Youngboy • Lil Wayne • Wiz Khalifa Who else is on the road? Andrew Cuomo scrambles ‘bacon, cheese and egg' order in awkward breakfast Q&A, baffling NYers: ‘Should be a disqualifying offense'
It's an unforgivable schmear. Mayoral frontrunner Andrew Cuomo had egg on his face after he scrambled the name of New York City's iconic bacon, egg and cheese sandwich during a head-scratching Q&A. The former governor made a hash of his answer to a question about his go-to breakfast order and even confessed that he prefers English muffins over bagels – a revelation that had New Yorkers hotter than a bodega grill. 'Bacon, cheese and egg on an English muffin, and then I try to take off the bacon, but I don't really take off the bacon,' Cuomo told the New York Times in an interview Tuesday, bungling the order of ingredients of the Big Apple breakfast bulwark. 'The bagel I try to stay away from, to keep my girlish figure.' 3 Self-respecting New Yorkers — who know the order is always bacon first, egg second and cheese third — mocked Cuomo for his remix, tearing his choice of bread a whole new set of nooks and crannies. Manhattanite Juan Concepción, 34, couldn't bialy-lieve Cuomo's response as the candidate seemed to be groping for an answer. 'It was a muffin, then he says it's a bagel. Then he took off the bacon, so it's an egg and cheese muffin,' he said. 'At least he's trying to be healthy.' When read the order, employees at Jimbo's Hamburger Place laughed out loud. 'It seems funny,' said Kemo, 50, an employee at the burger joint along First Avenue near Cuomo's pad. Cuomo's comments didn't go over-easy on social media, either. City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens) gave it a ruthless review that questioned Cuomo's New York bona fides. 'Honestly, calling it a 'bacon, cheese and egg' instead of a bacon egg and cheese should be a disqualifying offense,' she posted on X. 'A truly insane thing to say in NYC,' another X user posted. Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani, who's polling second behind Cuomo in the Democratic Party primary for mayor, pounced on the breakfast order during an unrelated press conference on Tuesday. 'It confirms so much of what we feared about Andrew Cuomo, not just that he doesn't know how to order a bacon, egg and cheese, but also the fact that this is a man who New York City has been something he's understood more through his television screen than actually by walking the streets, and we've seen that over the course of this campaign, he seems to be afraid of the city,' Mamdani said. 'He spends his time between his car and his $8,000 a month apartment in Midtown, and we don't ever know when we're going to see him, other than when it's legally required of him to be present.' The man Cuomo is running to replace — Mayor Eric Adams — has also been toasted by critics over some eccentric breakfast preferences. Adams told the Jewish publication Forward that he no longer eats bagels because of his diabetes — and has replaced them with something akin to rabbit food. 'I loved a good cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, and now I make my own bread with flaxseed and vegan cheese,' he said. Adams, who claims to be vegan, has been semi-regularly posting his breakfast smoothie concoctions, such as one with blueberries, romaine lettuce, avocado, cacao powder and green tea — a combination that prompted one X user to respond: 'Dude what the f–k.' Besides the breakfast brouhaha, Cuomo's interview with the Gray Lady provided ample fodder for his opponents' accusations that he's an out-of-touch carpetbagger. The Queens native acknowledged that he hadn't lived in the city since he was '32-ish,' which would be in roughly 1990. Cuomo signed the lease on his East 54th Street apartment in December 2023 and started living in it full-time during fall 2024, his reps have said. Cuomo's campaign didn't respond to The Post's request that he explain his breakfast order.

What really happens when you have stage 0 or 1 breast cancer — as Jessie J reveals ‘early' diagnosis
Jessie J shared the bombshell news that she has breast cancer on Instagram on Tuesday, telling fans that it was caught 'early' but she planned to 'disappear for a bit' while she recovers from surgery. 'I'm highlighting the word 'early.' Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period,' she said. What exactly is the 'Price Tag' singer in for? A specialist spoke to The Post about what patient can expect when they're diagnosed with stage 0 or stage 1 breast cancer. Advertisement What are stage 0 and stage 1 breast cancer? Stage 0 cancer means there are abnormal cells that look like cancer cells — but they haven't spread beyond where they originated. In breast cancer, that means they're just inside the milk duct. 'A stage 0 diagnosis only means that the cancer is contained inside the milk duct, but sometimes it can extend over a large portion of the breast,' Dr. Cindy Cen, a breast surgical oncologist at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, told The Post. Advertisement Stage 1, meanwhile, is the earliest stage of 'invasive' breast cancer, meaning it has spread. It's still early stage, though, because the spreading is limited to the surrounding area or lymph nodes in a small area. 3 Jessie J at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards. WireImage How breast cancer is confirmed After some sort of screening — whether that be a mammogram, sonogram or MRI — breast cancer is confirmed with a needle biopsy. Advertisement 'That needle biopsy provides us information on where the cancer originates from — either the breast duct or the lobule — and testing on the tissue can tell us what the tumor marker profile is,' Cen explained. This will then help determine the treatment plan. How is early breast cancer treated? 'Surgery is usually the first step, particularly for early-stage cancers,' Cen went on. 'The results from surgery will confirm size, lymph node involvement and ultimately staging.' The operation will decide which stage of cancer it is. Advertisement 3 'Surgery is usually the first step, particularly for early-stage cancers,' she said. 'The results from surgery will confirm size, lymph node involvement and ultimately staging.' lordn – There are two main surgical options: Lumpectomy : Also called a partial mastectomy, this involves removing just the cancerous portion of the breast. : Also called a partial mastectomy, this involves removing just the cancerous portion of the breast. Mastectomy: This removes the entire breast and may be done on one or both sides. 'Mastectomies can be done for stage 0 or 1 depending on the extent of disease and/or patient preference,' Cen said. 'A nipple-sparing approach can be done depending on the patient's anatomy and where the cancer is located in the breast.' 'A mastectomy would be the best option to remove a large portion of the breast rather than a lumpectomy.' Do people with early stage breast cancer need chemo or radiation? 'Chemotherapy would never be offered for stage 0, but potentially for a stage 1 depending on the cancer tumor markers or other risk factors,' Cen said, noting that would be determined after surgery. Advertisement 'If chemotherapy is offered, this usually follows surgery, and then radiation is after. 'Radiation is offered depending on the kind of surgery that was performed. If the patient had a lumpectomy, radiation is required to protect the remaining breast. If the patient undergoes a mastectomy, radiation is only required in certain situations, usually when cancers are more advanced.' On Instagram, Jessie J shared that she would be able to keep her 'nipples,' so it sounds like her experience is in keeping with the typical course of action in early-stage cancer. 'Also not getting massive tits. Or am I? No no… I must stop joking,' she wrote.
