Palworld dev and Pocketpair publishing manager says "big things" have happened that he can't talk about for "at least a year or 2," and keeping the secret is "gonna kill me"
Something mysterious is going on behind the scenes at Palworld studio Pocketpair, as one dev (and the company's publishing director) teases "something very exciting" that he's not able to talk about for "at least a year or two."
John "Bucky" Buckley has taken to Twitter today preparing fans for what sounds like a big announcement… and also one that we're almost certainly going to be waiting quite some time for. "Something very exciting happened and I literally won't be able to talk about it for like…at least a year or two," he writes. "But you guys are going to be super excited about it!"
In some follow-up replies, he says "big things" have happened, but reiterates that he's "going to have to hold all this crazy news inside," and "it's gonna kill me." He adds: "I'm going to be gnawing my legs off trying not to spill the beans."
The extra mysterious part of all this is that Bucky really could be teasing any number of things. Earlier this year, Pocketpair Publishing was launched with the goal of providing "comprehensive support for game development through funding and publishing for indie developers and studios." Since then, it's published Surgent Studios' new horror game, Dead Take, revealed it's publishing Truckful, and just this week, Bucky stated that "a VERY exciting game" has just been signed, with "quite a few others in the wings," too.
Given that Bucky has brought this extra secret stuff up in a separate post, it doesn't seem like he's talking about that recently signed game, though. Of course, there's also a chance that Pocketpair itself is developing something – Palworld has been wildly successful, so maybe a sequel could be on the cards? Or, maybe Bucky is secretly hyping fans up for the Palworld – More Than Just Pals dating sim, which, believe it or not, is actually a thing with a real Steam store page.
Palworld has a gigantic new Terraria collab because creator Redigit got a Hail Mary DM from Pocketpair: "Let this be a lesson to always shoot your shot."

Max Zhang shares experience of a brush with death
13 Aug - Max Zhang (aka Zhang Jin) recently revealed that he had suffered a heart attack back in April this year, an experience that was both harrowing and revealing to him. In a recent appearance on a Chinese variety show, the martial arts actor said that the incident occurred while he was traveling abroad with actress wife Ada Choi and their three kids. "I felt pain, difficulty breathing, and was covered in cold sweats. My wife was waiting in line to board the Duck Tour boat. She was about ten metres away from me. I was speechless because I felt like there was an abyss and I was falling, with no one to turn to," Max said. The actor said that the first thing he thought about was that he can't die there and leave Ada having to deal with it and to manage their children on her own. "I can't describe the feeling. I felt like I would be gone if I closed my eyes, so I just kept holding on, not wanting to collapse there. When I went back to Hong Kong for a checkup, and the doctor said, 'You could have died there.'" Max said that it was his first time having a near-death experience and that it had since changed his focus on life. He had since become more appreciative and cherished his time with his family. Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura convicted of indecent assault but avoids jail in Hong Kong
Hong Kong J-Pop Verdict HONG KONG (AP) — Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura was found guilty of a charge of indecent assault on a female interpreter in a Hong Kong court Wednesday before some emotional fans. Kamimura, a former member of a Japanese boy group named ONE N' ONLY, was arrested in the southern Chinese city in March. In the same month, his contract was terminated due to a serious compliance violation. In April, he pleaded not guilty. He allegedly touched the interpreter's thigh repeatedly during a celebratory dinner at a restaurant. During the trial last month, the interpreter testified through a live video link that Kamimura had invited her to a bathroom elsewhere. After she dismissed the request and told him she had a boyfriend, Kamimura continued to touch her thigh, she said. The defense argued the interpreter exaggerated her claims and the alleged bathroom invitation might not have been based on improper motives. Judge Peter Yu handed down the conviction Wednesday, saying Kamimura touched the intrepreter in a caressing nature that implicitly carried a sexual undertone and had indecent intent. After the verdict was announced, a few of Kamimura's fans wept in the courtroom. But Kamimura looked relieved when the judge issued a fine of 15,000 Hong Kong dollars (about $1,900) and no prison term. The maximum penalty for the charge is 10 years of imprisonment. The singer's supporters, including some from Japan and mainland China, formed long lines inside the court building to secure a seat in the main courtroom before the hearing. Others from mainland China who attended said they were not fans but wanted to learn more about the case, especially after seeing criticism of the female interpreter online.
