Gujarat govt launches 'Swasthya Gujarat, Medasvita Mukt Gujarat' campaign in Surat

Surat (Gujarat) [India], May 4 (ANI): The Gujarat government started a campaign called 'Swasthya Gujarat, Medasvita Mukt Gujarat' to help people stay healthy and free from diseases. This campaign focuses on reducing obesity and promoting a healthy lifestyle through yoga.
A yoga event was held in Surat as part of this campaign, organized by the Gujarat State Yoga Board. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi attended the event as the chief guest.
Sanghvi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Gujarat Assembly has passed a special resolution this year to make Gujarat a Healthy and Obesity-Free State. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his radio program Mann Ki Baat, urged all citizens to live a healthy and obesity-free life by practicing yoga.
Speaking to mediapersons, Gujarat Home Minister said, 'PM Modi in his 'Mann Ki Baat' program appealed that every citizen of the country should be obesity free and healthy. Under the guidance of CM Bhupendra Patel, a special resolution has been taken in the Legislative Assembly this year- Healthy Gujarat, Obesity Free Gujarat. Thousands of citizens of Surat city are involved in this program of obesity free Gujarat. In the coming days, the Gujarat government is determined to take this program to every village of the state...'
The Gujarat government has formed the Gujarat State Yoga Board to connect people with yoga.
The yoga program in Surat was organized ahead of International Yoga Day (June 21) to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and healthy living.
Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that the Gujarat government has decided to hold yoga in the assembly, under which the work of making the entire state free has been started. It has been decided to take yoga not only to cities but also to villages. (ANI)

Assam Rifles launches second outreach drive campaign for ex-servicemen in West Bengal

Darjeeling (West Bengal) [India], June 23 (ANI): Assam Rifles, India's oldest and highest decorated paramilitary force, on Monday launched a comprehensive outreach drive campaign for its ex-servicemen across various locations in West Bengal from 23-27 June. According to an official release, the campaign is being conducted in Kurseong, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Salugara. Its aim is to address the concerns and grievances of ex-servicemen, foster trust, and create greater awareness about the new schemes and facilities launched by the Assam Rifles. The medical team, including a doctor, accompanies the outreach team to distribute medicines and provide basic medical care to the ex-servicemen and their dependents. This initiative seeks to engage with Veterans, Veer Naris, Gallantry Awardees, and their dependents through interactive sessions, pension-related issues, grievances, medical camps, and various grants through ARESA (Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Association ). On day one of the programme at Kurseong, the team resolved nearly 100 grievances and ensured ex-servicemen registered on the Sampark setu application, which was made to resolve grievances and stay in touch with Veterans. Earlier, a similar drive was launched for Remote areas of Uttarakhand, such as Begeshwar, Devalthal, Gairsain, and Khatima, where more than 400 grievances were resolved. The Outreach Drive aligns with Assam Rifles' enduring commitment to its motto, 'Our Veteran, Our Pride,' by extending its goodwill and public engagement efforts beyond the region into the broader national fold. Officers from ARESA including Clerical and Medical Staff are participating in the event, making it a collaborative and impactful. (ANI)

The theme of the event was 'Yoga for One Earth. Yoga for One Health'. In a post on X, the Embassy stated, 'Glimpses of a one-of-a-kind celebration of International Day of Yoga 2025. Embassy of India in Berlin and The Tagore Centre hosted a serene Yoga session on two boats on Wannsee Lake in Berlin -- bringing together diplomats, friends of India and Yoga practitioners. The calm & scenic setting helped bring into focus this year's theme- 'Yoga for One Earth. Yoga for One Health'.' 'Dresden celebrated 11th International Day of Yoga with enthusiastic participation by hundreds of Yoga practitioners at the city's historic Altmarkt. Embassy of India in Berlin and The Tagore Centre, in collaboration with Indian Association Dresden e.V., hosted Yoga session, with instructors from Art of Living Deutschland Sudarshan Kriya and supported by TU Dresden and the City of Dresden. Supported by vibrant Indian community in Saxony, the session brought together people of all backgrounds in a collective experience of harmony and mindfulness. Yoga for One Earth. Yoga for One Health,' it said. Earlier on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Sri Lanka, and the Indian Embassies in Riyadh, Russia, and Tokyo enthusiastically celebrated the day. This year marks the 11th International Day of Yoga, with the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health.' This theme echoes the vital truth that personal wellness and planetary health are inseparably linked. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, hailing yoga as a gift 'beyond age' that transcends all boundaries and unites humanity in 'health and harmony'. Following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the world annually on 21st June since 2015. It is celebrated with the aim of spreading awareness about the multiple benefits of Yoga and inspiring individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle. (ANI)
