'As bad as Logan Paul's forest suicide video': MrBeast faces backlash for airing video after Tyler Wall's death

Time of India5 hours ago

MrBeast is making headlines for all the wrong reasons after uploading a controversial YouTube video. Titled
"Lose 100 LBs, Win $250,000!"
, the June 21, 2025 upload was meant to be inspirational, but quickly spiraled into controversy when fans claimed it was 'emotionally exploitative.'
Tired of too many ads? go ad free now
Why? Because it included the raw, emotional reaction of Majd, the video's star, after learning that his trainer, Coach Tyler Wall, had passed away mid-challenge.
The Video That Sparked the Outrage
On June 21, 2025, MrBeast uploaded Lose 100 LBs, Win $250,000!, documenting Majd's weight-loss journey. The stakes were high, and so was the motivation—Majd's trainer, Coach Tyler Wall, was his guiding force. But by Day 85, tragedy struck: Coach Wall was found dead.
The moment Majd learns this on camera? It's raw, emotional... and now, extremely controversial.
And yes,
that
exact moment made it into the final edit, complete with emotional piano music. That didn't sit well with a chunk of the internet.
Fans Draw Logan Paul Comparisons
Not everyone saw the video as inspiring. In fact, many found it exploitative.
X user @DewEnjoyer didn't hold back:
'MrBeast adding sad piano music to the guy's reaction... is f**king disgusting. Recording it AT ALL is insane... POSTING it is inhumane.'
The comparison to Logan Paul's 2017 'Suicide Forest' video, where he filmed a body in Japan's Aokigahara forest, was immediate and sharp.
Another user, @drjellyfanguzzz said:
'I don't think recording somebody in their most vulnerable moments like that is healthy to show…'
'Fu*k You MrBeast'
Other users felt MrBeast should've pulled the plug on the entire project after Tyler's passing. One X user wrote:
'Fuck you MrBeast. The solution was stopping the video and just giving him the money.'
Another added that filming someone's grief in real time felt... wrong:
'I don't think recording somebody in their most vulnerable moments like that is healthy to show.'
Many said it felt more like trauma than a tribute.
But Not Everyone's Mad
To be fair, not
all
fans are dragging MrBeast through the mud. Some are defending the video, urging others to watch it in full before jumping to conclusions.

One viewer noted the video came with a viewer discretion warning, was dedicated to Coach Wall, and even claimed the family gave their blessing to share the footage:
'The family wanted MrBeast to post the footage… People are overreacting to farm clout.'
In the description, the team wrote a heartfelt note calling Tyler 'a kind and genuine spirit' and said his family wanted his legacy to be one of
hope and positivity
.
So… Was It Too Much?
MrBeast has always blurred the line between
inspiration
and
entertainment
. But when real-life grief is involved, it gets complicated. Whether it was honoring a legacy or exploiting a tragedy... well, the internet's still arguing.
One thing's for sure: in an age where everything is content, the line between 'sharing a story' and 'oversharing someone else's pain' has never been thinner.

Abhignya Vuthaluru on working in ‘thrilling, chilling' Viraatapalem PC Meena Reporting: ‘Many were shocked to learn…'

It's not just big stars, even those who've built a loyal fanbase through social media content also often find it difficult to break away from their established persona and try something uncharted. The hesitation isn't always due to a lack of ability. It more often stems from the fear of whether their fans would accept them in a new light, shattering the image that helped build their popularity in the first place. But YouTuber-turned-actor Abhignya Vuthaluru believes she's been fortunate to have an audience that already knows that she's a jack of many trades and supports her wish to experiment as an artiste. Not just that she isn't weighed down by the persona shaped by her fashion-centric YouTube channel, but it has only empowered her to pursue her aspirations in cinema without being enchained by expectations. That's also one of the reasons, she admits, why she could confidently take on the central role in the upcoming ZEE5 Telugu original series Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting without second thoughts. In Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting, Abhignya plays Meena, a police constable posted in the fictional village of Viraatapalem during the 1980s. The series is touted as a thriller centred around the mysterious deaths of brides on their wedding days, as a result of which no marriage has taken place in the village in a decade. The trailer and other promotional material have also established that the show will be a thrilling ride, devoid of overtly feel-good elements. Speaking about the show, in an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Abhignya says, 'While I was watching the first cut, there were moments where I felt a sort of (creepy) energy. These aren't jump scares, but scenes that make you feel eerie. The frames and music definitely keep you hooked. It's both thrilling and chilling.' So what drew her to a character like Meena, especially since the show features a subject many actors might shy away from due to its intensity and the need to step outside their comfort zone? Abhignya notes, 'Though I am not so self-introspecting on my choices, I know where I want to be. I know with the little or upcoming better influence that I have, I want to be part of stories that reflect something beyond skin and external factors, such as fashion. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with it. I myself come from a fashion background and have a fashion channel. But I think that is always something you can achieve. However, stories like Viraatapalem that have personalities and layers are rare finds. It is a choice that I made much earlier in my career. While I'm part of glam and femme stories too, I also want to prove to my audience that this is the range I can perform. I want to be a versatile actor that way.' Was it an easy decision to take on such a role, especially since it deviates so far from her public persona? Did she ever worry about how her social media fam would react? 'I am actually blessed with a crowd on my social media who know that I can do that and this. While I enjoy the vanity aspect of actors, I also want to have a voice. Sure, we like to look at someone pretty, but when they have something to tell, it'll keep us hooked to them. I don't have a mantra to it. I'm just going by my gut feeling, and I know that it's all sort of adding up,' Abhignya maintains. 'It was so different from my other projects and in a good way,' she recalls her experience working on Viraatapalem. 'This was the first time I got a proper Telugu script in a set. And that took me back to my childhood.' Although she can read and write in Telugu, Abhignya admits she had started losing touch with the lipi (script), since most of her recent projects had English or Tenglish (a blend of Telugu and English) scripts. 'Also, when you speak English often, you tend to use a certain enunciation, and that's something I had to unlearn this time. It was a beautiful experience. Everyone on set was shocked upon learning that I could actually read Telugu,' she adds. A post shared by SCREEN (@ieentertainment) During the chat, Abhignya also shared that part of the fun working on Viraatapalem was also because the show has a 'beautiful balance of young and experienced actors.' She adds, 'There were character artistes who had as much experience as our ages. And they were cracking jokes and trying to understand our lingo. It was a super fun set. Also, the pace at which director Poluru Krishna shot the show was impressive. He knew every frame very well. This was the quickest shoot I have been part of.' Also starring Charan Lakkaraju, Lavanya Sahukara, Ramaraju, Gowtham Raju and Satish in key roles, Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting will start streaming on ZEE5 on June 27.

"He Was a Mess": Valkyrae Questions Mang0's Behavior Amid Ongoing Controversy

In the wake of a contentious and chaotic weekend livestream, esports veteran Joseph 'Mang0' Marquez is coming under fire ,not just from fans and peers, but now by industry legends such as Rachell 'Valkyrae' Hofstetter. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now A Community Favorite Crosses the Line Mang0, widely considered one of the most successful, popular, and influential Super Smash Bros. Melee players of all time, was one of 23 streamers invited to compete at the June 21 event, a raucous, booze-soaked tournament created by YouTube star Ludwig. Meant as an innocent, nostalgic nod to the original Mario Kart setup that should have been a funny and harmless throwback, the stream took a seriously gross turn almost immediately. Footage of the stream soon spread across all social media platforms and faced backlash for the action taking place as well as the normalization of high levels of drinking at creator events. Valkyrae Speaks Out: 'He Was a Disaster' Like many of us, during her June 24 livestream, Valkyrae was furious over the whole situation. She said, "'Really was fun, but the Mang0 situation was serious.' Yeah, no, Mang0 was a disaster. He was a mess. And I cannot believe the clips that I saw. I, just yeah, it is quite unfortunate. I do think that he needs to seek help for sure." Valkyrae speaks about the Mang0 Incident during Ludwig's Beerio Kart The fallout for Mang0 has been pretty swift and severe. On June 25, after facing backlash, he issued an apology on X, taking responsibility for the fact that he messed up, hurt people, and crossed a line. In his admission, he cited a recent history of alcohol-related misconduct and a willingness to change and learn from his mistakes. Even with these provisions, for many the damage was done. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Cloud9, Mang0's esports organization of many years, cut his contract in the wake of an internal investigation. In the midst of this, Ludwig personally declared that Mang0 would be banned from all future events his company runs, which would effectively remove him from most of the biggest Melee tournaments left. As the dust settles, fans and industry leaders alike are left with one inevitable question, how much is acceptable to endure in pursuit of content? One thing is for certain, Mang0's footprint on Melee can't be scrubbed clean, but whether or not he has a future in the community remains uncertain.
